Chapter 04: Were we both reborn?

At night, the noise from the downstairs snack shop and the roar of cars could be heard from the window. Living in this old-fashioned community was like that. You had to accept all the noise, unlike in the countryside, where it was quiet and calm.

Compared to that quietness though, Gu Xia prefered the place where he lived now, after all, he had lived there for decades in his previous life.

Gu Xia was thinking about what to do next?

Should he invest in some startups like those protagonists in rebirth novels?

Gu Xia didn’t want to and couldn’t. First, he didn’t have money or technology, so he couldn’t do it at all. After all, he didn’t have a system or an old wise grandfather to help him, and he was still a human being.

‘I don’t know what Sisi is doing? She should have just graduated from high school by this time, right?’

‘Now she should still have a crush on Hu Chao, that handsome guy in her class, right?’

‘She can live a carefree life every day now, and doesn’t have to worry about taking care of her child, or to buy vegetables, wash clothes and cook every day, right?’

“Hey, why do I feel so irritated in my heart?”

Gu Xia tossed and turned and couldn’t fall asleep, his head was messed up, and he didn’t fall asleep until late at night.

In a modern community in Xianghu District of Jiangbei City, there was an artificial lake next to this community. As this community was built on the lakeside, it was called Lakeside Community. The greenery in the community was abundant, everywhere there was green vegetation, of course there were many mosquitoes as well.

The community was silent, and on the 21st floor of Building 20, there was a 16- or 17-year-old girl who also couldn’t sleep. On the top deck of the double deck bed, in addition to the girl, there was a girl around 25 years old.

The girl had flat bangs, her jet-black hair spread out on the pillow like a black waterfall, and her eyes looked extra bright under the moonlight.

The older girl was lying on her stomach and sleeping peacefully.

“Haaah~”

A complicated sigh was heard in the room.

“I really want to see my Chengcheng!” Her voice was so subtle that even the girl next to her could hardly hear her lamentation.

Tu Sisi has been in a daze all day, and she still couldn’t accept the fact that she was reborn. When she woke up today, she was still looking for her son everywhere, but the strange and familiar environment and the strange gazes she got from her family made her almost collapse.

She only remembered that she was lying on the bed, suddenly she heard a roaring sound, and the flames rushed into the room. She only had time to pounce on her son, and then she lost consciousness. When she woke up, she was back in time ten years ago.

“Heh… I wonder what happened to that dead guy? What happened to him…was he also reborn?” The room returned to tranquility again.

The next day, Gu Xia was woken up by the alarm clock at five o’clock. This was what he had set up last night. In his previous life, he often jugged in the morning whenever he had time. Now that he was reborn, this habit should not be lost. After all, the body was fundamental.

Gu Xia gently opened the door to wash up, then used a bowl to cook porridge. After he went out, he gently ran on the road. The most taboo thing in jogging was running fast, as the stamina would not last long. Gu Xia knew a high-ranking official when he was doing business in his previous life. That customer taught Gu Xia a set of running skills, so when Gu Xia started running, his pace was regular, neither fast nor slow. He ran, and at the same time flexed the muscles of the whole body .

At this age, Gu Xia was very thin. At 1.75 meters tall, he only weighed about 110 pounds, and he looked very thin.

Gu Xia couldn’t help thinking of his previous life. After he got married, he ran a business and socialized every day, and his weight soared to more than 150 pounds. His stomach was like a pregnant woman in six or seven months.

“Gu Xia, you came out for a run so early?” A middle-aged woman pushing a tricycle shouted to Gu Xia.

“Ah, Aunt Zhang, are you out going to sell vegetables?” Gu Xia said with a smile.

“Yeah, I go out every day at this time, and I’ll bring some to your house later.” Aunt Zhang smiled.

“Don’t, you often bring vegetables to my house, which makes my family feel embarrassed.” Gu Xia touched his nose and said helplessly.

Auntie Zhang lived opposite his own house. She often brought some vegetables to his house after she returned at noon. He felt sorry, so sometimes when he bought food, he would give it to her, or he would invite her and her daughter to eat.

Speaking of this auntie, her life was also hard. Her husband passed away for more than ten years, and she raised her daughter alone, relying on selling vegetables to make a living. And, her daughter Li Jingjing was also a very good person. Every year she performed at the top of her grade, and she was also very enthusiastic. There was not a single person in Gu Xia’s community who could say that she was a bad girl. Most of the vegetables that Aunt Zhang sold were grown by themselves, and they were nutritious and hygienic.

“Hey, you boy, you don’t have to be so courteous with this aunt. Your mother also buys food for Jingjing, and you also help Jingjing with her homework. Will it hurt us to give you some vegetables? It’s fine as long as you don’t dislike it.” Aunt Zhang waved her hand and then rode the tricycle away.

Gu Xia hurriedly ran two steps and shouted, “Auntie Zhang, come to my house for dinner at night and call Jingjing too.”

“Okay~” Aunt Zhang replied from a distance.

Gu Xia ran around the road in the center of the new district. It was almost seven o’clock when he got home. His Mom and Dad had already gone out, and the porridge in the bowl had reduced. His parents had finished drinking the porridge and went out.

Gu Xia took a cold bath and felt much more comfortable. The summer in Jiangbei City was very hot, and it could reach 40 degrees at noon during the day, ranking third in the country. It was really very hot.

Gu Xia drank two bowls of porridge with dried radishes. Seeing that the door of his sister’s room was still closed, it was likely that she played with her mobile phone till late last night.

Gu Xia took out his Nakia 3100 mobile phone. In college, his father gave it to him as a reward. Although it was not the latest Nakia mobile phone, the 3100 model cost more than 1,000 yuan. Gu Xia’s father only used a mobile phone that cost about 500 yuan. It could be seen how happy he was when Gu Xia was admitted to the university. When he first bought it, Gu Qin was greedy for it and kept saying that their father was partial, until Gu Feng promised her to buy a good mobile phone when she was also admitted to the university.

Gu Xia entered QQ, and the “DiDi” prompt sound continued to ring.

Gu Xia clicked on his high school group and saw a bombardment of more than a hundred messages!

Li Xia: “Do you have time on July 7th? Why don’t we go out on an outing, just to say goodbye to our high school life. Those who agree, go sign up and pay 50 yuan each, and I’ll talk it out with the teacher’s side.”

Li Xia was the monitor of Gu Xia’s class. She was beautiful, good at studying, and very popular in the class. Many people had a crush on her, so as soon as she took the initiative, many people responded immediately.

There were more than fifty people in the class, and forty-seven people agreed to go. Because it was yesterday’s information, it was better to go directly tomorrow.

Originally, Gu Xia didn’t want to go, but after thinking about it, he thought it would be better to go. It was the first time in a while he would get to see his classmates and teachers after many years. Otherwise, it would be difficult for everyone to meet each other again in the future. This outing would be very pure, and it won’t be like everyone’s gatherings in the future, when all they would do was to compare and brag about themselves. (Goblin: So…so true! That’s why I don’t attend my highschool gatherings anymore. Seems too fake and awkward. I don’t feel comfortable at all.)

Gu Xia left the group and scrolled down, and found that the monitor Li Xia had sent a message asking if he would go, Gu Xia replied with a word, and then came out of QQ.

Gu Xia felt that he was very bored. This mobile phone was not like the ones from his previous life.He could only stay connected with his circle of friends, and there were no other features for entertainment.

Gu Xia had to turn on the TV and found that it was either a replay of My Fair Princess or a TV series like Journey to the West that he had watched hundreds of times. He then changed the channel again and started watching the news.

  1. I really hope Mc doesn’t fall for FL again. I Imagine the only reason she’d want to get back together would be to give birth to chengcheng again… And that is literally impossible. When God hit the Ctrl+Z he deleted chengcheng from existence and even if they had another kid, it wouldn’t be him
