Chapter 11: A near miss

“DiDi..DiDi”

“Did you fall asleep? So what do you say?” Li Sicheng asked again.

Gu Xia came back to his senses, and he was struggling for an answer. He clearly wanted to avoid going there, but there was a voice in his heart that seemed to say “go”, and that made Gu Xia very confused.

Gu Xia took a deep breath, seemingly having made a decision, and replied, “I’ll go.”

“Okay, then I’ll let you know at the time.”

Instead of avoiding the matter, it was better to face it directly. Didn’t he want to know if she had been reborn? Maybe this was an opportunity.

After Gu Xia made a decision, he felt much more relaxed physically and mentally, so he turned off the lights and went to sleep.

*****

Next day in the afternoon, Gu Xia received a message saying that the meet was at 6:00 p.m. in the Liu Ji night snack shop downstairs, which was the one Gu Xia often went to.

Gu Xia made dinner at home, told his sister that he would be going out, then took a cold shower and went out. He walked to Xinghua Road, looked at the sign of Liu Ji Supper Shop, looked dazed for a while, and then after a deep breath, walked through the door.

“What does this handsome want to eat?” the waiter asked.

“My friend is inside.” Gu Xia pointed to the second floor and said.

“Okay.”

Gu Xia saw that the proprietress was busy collecting money and placing orders, and smiled, it was great!

Gu Xia walked up to the second floor and saw that Li Sicheng and Wang Qian were sitting there. Nothing was placed on the table. It was likely that they had just arrived.

Li Sicheng sat there with a blushing face. Gu Xia did not see that familiar figure, and his heart relaxed. He was feeling a little nervous, but he relaxed because Tu Sisi didn’t come. He was nervous because if Tu Sisi was reborn, she would know that she would meet him today. Is that why she didn’t come?

Gu Xia didn’t know, he just shook his head and walked in the direction of Li Sicheng.

“Gu Xia, here!”

When Li Sicheng saw Gu Xia, he hurriedly waved his hand and shouted. Sitting here alone felt like he was sitting on pins and needles!

Gu Xia smiled. Li Sicheng was not very good at communicating, and was a person who usually did not talk a lot. Now that he had to chat with a girl, he felt really shy.

Gu Xia walked over, looked at Wang Qian and said, “Hello, I’m Gu Xia, this guy’s best friend.”

“Hello, I’m Wang Qian.” Wang Qian introduced herself.

“Have you ordered anything?” Gu Xia asked with a smile.

“Not yet, we were waiting for you to order! This is your territory, you must know what would be good to eat.” After seeing Gu Xia, Li Sicheng said with a smile.

“Okay, then I’ll go place the order, but don’t blame me for being a wolf~” Gu Xia said and stood up.

Li Sicheng didn’t study after graduating from junior high school. He studied cooking in a restaurant. After learning, he went to Jiangbei University’s snack street to open a small fast food shop. He could earn seven or eight thousand every month minus the expenses. Wang Qian was acquainted with him. Li Sicheng became totally opposite of his usual self on QQ. He could talk fearlessly on QQ, which was why he could ask Wang Qian out for dinner.

Gu Xia walked downstairs, and the waiter asked, “Handsome, what do you want?”

“One serving of lobster, one serving of crab shells, two pieces of roasted meat, three servings of chicken feet, and four bottles of beer, one bottle of drink.” Gu Xia said quickly without even looking at the menu on the kitchen counter.

“Okay, wait a moment.” The waiter quickly finished writing down his order.

Gu Xia turned around and was about to walk downstairs. Suddenly, he turned and ran out the door. He ran to the opposite corner before stopping. He frowned, looked around, and then walked back.

Gu Xia just saw a figure walk into this corner alley. That figure looked a lot like Tu Sisi, but when he ran over, he didn’t see anyone.

Gu Xia shook his head, thinking that he was just hallucinating.

What Gu Xia didn’t know was that at the corner, a girl was looking at his back with tears running down her cheeks. This girl was Tu Sisi. She just hid behind a garbage truck and didn’t come out until Gu Xia walked away.

Today, she actually promised Wang Qian that she would come, but she was delayed for a while because of a temporary incident. So, she came late.

She actually didn’t want to come with Wang Qian, but there was always a desire in her heart that drove her to come, so she came in the end. She almost went in, but when she walked to the door, she saw that Gu Xia was ordering food, and then quickly turned around and walked away.

Tu Sisi hid in the corner and kept crying. She finally became sure of one thing, that Gu Xia was also reborn, otherwise he would not have run over so quickly when he saw her figure.

But since he was reborn, why didn’t he come to find her?

Did he want to leave her alone?

Or did he not know she was reborn at all?

Tu Sisi didn’t know, she cried for a while, then she got up and called a cab and left. On the way, she sent a message to Wang Qian saying that she was not coming.

There were always so many near misses in life.

*****

Gu Xia walked upstairs with a frown on his face.

The dishes and beer had already arrived, and he sat next to Li Sicheng.

“Sicheng, go to the opposite seat, it’s not convenient for me to eat if you sit here.” Gu Xia said deliberately, gesturing to Li Sicheng with his eyes as he spoke.

Who would have thought that this guy pretended not to understand what he meant, he didn’t speak, and just handed a bottle of wine to him.

Gu Xia became a little speechless. He created opportunities for this guy, but he pretended to be stupid, and so Gu Xia had no choice but to quit.

“Are you studying?” Wang Qian asked Gu Xia.

“Yes, I’ll begin my freshman year soon.” Gu Xia replied in surprise.

“Which university did you get into? Was your university entrance examination difficult this time around? I’m only a sophomore in high school, and I will take the university entrance exam in the future, so I’m a little nervous.” Wang Qian’s eyes lit up when she heard his words, and she continued with her questions.

“Hmm…It was definitely difficult, but it would be best not to be too nervous. Just treat it with a normal mentality. If you are too nervous and that leads to a bad performance, it will not be worth all the hard work.” Gu Xia thought for a while and said.

“Sicheng, pour drink for Wang Qian’s cup! Why are you sitting like a statue when you’re the one inviting someone to dinner?” Gu Xia saw that Wang Qian was still keen on asking questions, and hurriedly poked Li Sicheng beside him.

Hearing his urging, Li Sicheng immediately stood up and poured a drink for Wang Qian, then smiled, “Here…”

“Thank you~”

Gu Xia felt quite uncomfortable after a late supper, and Wang Qian kept asking him this and that. It was as if he was the one who had asked her out, and Li Sicheng, the dead wood, just stayed quiet.

It continued like that until 9 o’clock in the evening, when Wang Qian stood up and said, “I’m going home, or my mother will scold me.”

“By the way, Gu Xia, let’s add each other on QQ! This way I can ask you any questions about my studies.” Wang Qian looked at Gu Xia with a smile and suggested.

Gu Xia looked at Wang Qian’s twinkling eyes which stared straight at him, and smiled bitterly in his heart, ‘Now this is quite the pickle! Sigh…’

Gu Xia looked at Li Sicheng who was still busy eating at the table and couldn’t help but feel helpless, ‘This guy…’

Gu Xia could only give his id QQ to Wang Qian, and then said to Li Sicheng, “Sicheng, go and send Wang Qian home.”

“Ah!”

Gu Xia watched the two walk away and couldn’t help but sigh in his heart, ‘That Li Sicheng, will he be able to catch up with Wang Qian!’

In his previous life, Li Sicheng pursued Wang Qian for seven or eight years, but he could not catch up with Wang Qian. Later, when Wang Qian married the blind date arranged by her family, Li Sicheng finally stopped thinking about her.

Gu Xia really hoped that it would not be like his previous life again in this life!

After a few minutes, Li Sicheng came back, and Gu Xia said, “Didn’t I tell you to send her home? Why did you come back so quickly? You didn’t come back after you put her in the cab, right?”

“Hmm.” Li Sicheng responded, and then suddenly picked up the beer bottle and took a sip.

“Do girls dislike boys like me who aren’t studying?” Li Sicheng looked at Gu Xia and asked.

“Why do you think so? Then, are you implying that people with less education are all bachelors?” Gu Xia immediately retorted.

“Then why does Wang Qian keep talking to you alone? And when she heard that you were admitted to university, her eyes lit up, and I…”

Li Sicheng went into a daze, and then took another sip of beer.

“Sicheng, don’t be like that. This is the first time you and Wang Qian met. It’s normal for her to act unfamiliar with you. And for the reason she talked to me, maybe she’s looking forward to being admitted to a university!” Gu Xia could only say this.

“Did you know? I liked Wang Qian the first time I saw her. I didn’t believe in love at first sight before, but now I believe it, but she doesn’t seem to have any feelings for me!” Li Sicheng said angrily.

“Someone will not necessarily fall for you on the first day. You have to take the initiative. You have to ask her out to go shopping, eat something, and occasionally buy something for her. Remember what she likes to eat, wear, and visit. Otherwise, will you just wait for the girl to take the initiative to say that she likes you? Is that even possible?” Gu Xia advised him from some experience that he had in his previous life.

“Right, I must catch up with Wang Qian!” Li Sicheng said firmly.

“I wish for your success, come here, let’s toast.” Gu Xia said while raising the bottle.

The two didn’t finish drinking until 11:00. They drank two cases of beer. Li Sicheng drank a lot and almost passed out. Because Li Sicheng lived in a store, Gu Xia sent him back to the store before returning home. It was already past 12 o’clock by then.

Gu Xia lay down on the bed, his head a little dizzy, and he quickly fell asleep.

  1. “But since he was reborn, why didn’t he come to find her?

Did he want to leave her alone?”

Bruh… What did you expect? The night you both died, you accused your faithful husband of cheating and also threatened divorce…
For Mc’s sake, it would be best if he didn’t get back together with her.
