Chapter 76: Irreversible I (part 2)

“Ha, everything you say truly suits the level of the princess. But… wasn’t that word from earlier something a princess shouldn’t have said? Even if others might not know, I still vividly remember the scene where the princess battered Cain’s entire body in the name of training. For such words to come from the mouth of the person who broke Cain’s limbs dozens of times, it seems the princess must be a truly shameless person.”

“Really, it’s not for nothing that the old saying goes: the ignorant often tend to shout louder. Ariel Thiers, Cain and I were training together. It was a necessary process to sharpen and refine one’s martial arts and develop for the future. Well, I don’t think you’d understand easily since you built up your strength comfortably just by sitting somewhere and praying.”

“Oh, that’s an interesting theory. If that’s the case, can I also assume that if I t0uch the princess’s precious b0dy or break a few bones here and there, it’s just part of a training process to pursue martial arts?”

“Hmm, that sounds like a very attractive proposal. Even so, I also wanted to suggest a training method that would be perfect for you, assuming there are no protests from the church. After all, weren’t you a disgusting w0man who, even if her limbs were cut off, would grow them back like a crayfish? Even if you recklessly ab*use your b0dy, it won’t be obvious, so it might be the best condition for teaching.”

“There’s nothing I can do about that. Then, shall we test how sharp the sword of the empire’s famous princess is?”

It didn’t stop at mere growling—given the threatening atmosphere, they seemed ready to swing their fists at any moment.

Therefore, I had no choice but to speak up.

“…Can’t you both calm down?”

If Ariel and the princess started fighting seriously here, the Duchy of Estel would be wiped from the map in less than a minute. It would be a repeat of the time when Aria and Bianca fought like mad to k!ll each other. Of course, the sight of these two arguing was already more than enough to trump the conflict between Aria and Bianca.

“…I can’t help it when you say that. I guess you’re lucky, Ariel Thiers.”

“…I think I got a little carried away. I apologize, Cain.”

For some reason, both women apologized to me instead of each other.

I could sense it instinctively—Ariel and the princess were at the point where they couldn’t stand the sight of each other. But why did the princess have such a bad relationship with Ariel, despite not being on bad terms with Aria and even traveling together for a time?

As the overheated atmosphere cooled slightly, the princess cleared her throat as if regaining her composure. I supposed it was fortunate that she realized she had gone a bit too far.

“…Hmm, let’s get back to the topic we were discussing earlier. The reason she’s here is because I called her. I sent a letter, hoping she might be of some help regarding your so-called ‘honeymoon trip’ with Bianca del Castana.”

“Cain, I didn’t come because the princess called me. I was already on my way north when I heard the news of your engagement with Bianca del Castana.”

…So, to sum it up, my fake engagement with Bianca ended up drawing in every woman I was involved with?

“Well, she’s useless when it come to battles, but she’s quite useful as a walking medicine cabinet. Thanks to that, it was possible to heal the serious injuries you sustained.”

“I am the one who healed Cain, but it seems like the princess intends to take all the credit for herself.”

So, was it all thanks to Ariel that my limbs were still intact?

“As I said before, your injuries were extremely severe. Although all the external wounds have healed, I hope you don’t forget that you still need time to recover.”

After saying that, Ariel sighed and started looking at me with an unfamiliar expression.

“Now that you seem to understand the situation, may I ask Cain just one question?”

“Ah, yes. Go ahead.”

When I nodded, Ariel threw her question at me in a sharp tone.

“I didn’t want to ask, but now I have no choice. Cain, is Bianca the reason for the serious injuries you sustained?”

“…What?”

“Don’t even think about avoiding the question. On Cain’s left arm, I found traces of necrosis from extreme heat. As far as I know, only Bianca’s ‘Sigh of White Flame’ can leave such marks. So, tell me clearly. Cain, what exactly have you been doing all this time alone with Bianca?”

“…I, well…”

For some reason, cold sweat broke out on my back. A strong premonition flashed through my mind—I would regret it forever if I misspoke here.

And just at that moment—

Bang!

Once again, the door slammed open without so much as a knock. At this point, I had every reason to suspect that my room had become public property without my knowledge.

When I looked up to see who the rude intruders were, it was none other than Aria and Bianca.

“Cain!”

“Cain! You’re awake!”

Aria and Bianca beamed with joy, no doubt relieved that I had regained consciousness. However, Ariel furrowed her brows, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

“Oh, so that’s the person who Cain immediately asked about the moment he regained consciousness.”

“…What? Did Cain ask for me first as soon as he woke up?”

No matter what Ariel actually said, Bianca only seemed to hear what she wanted to hear.

“Could it be that you missed me, Cain? Actually, I missed you very much too. Now, the time has come for you to keep the promise you made to me that day.”

“…The promise I made that day? What are you talking about?”

Honestly, I had no idea what Bianca was referring to. There had been too many conversations that day.

“Isn’t it obvious? Didn’t you promise to love me for the rest of your life?”

As she said that, Bianca grabbed my arm and hugged me tightly.

“…..”

“…..”

“…..”

The next moment, a suffocating silence filled the room as the other three women stared.

‘I’m doomed.’

Why did my head ache so much?
