Chapter 11: Eternal Love (part 2)

“This is not betrayal. I am just receiving the eternal love you promised me.”

“….”

“I will be with you forever… because I don’t want to die again.”

‘So, you can’t leave my side forever. Erase the day that won’t let you go. My love will definitely come true.’

There was no answer this time.

She slowly lay down on the bed and looked at his broad back.

Julius did not lie down next to her but sat quietly.

A slightly cold wind seemed to blow from somewhere.

She gently closed her eyes and thought.

‘Now you know who I am.’

She was also Julius’s lovely wife.

Or so she thought.

After a brief commotion in the morning, Cecile expressed her desire to go to the church, and Julius took her outside.

The bread that had fallen in front of the door was gone. Had the wild animals nearby taken it?

As Julius pondered this trivial question, someone tightly grasped his hand.

Cecile intertwined her fingers with his, as if never intending to let go.

“This is not betrayal.”

With those words engraved in his heart, he slowly walked toward the church.

As they climbed the hill leading to the church, a faint, delicious smell wafted through the wind.

Priestess Emily was likely making a late breakfast.

When they circled the large church building to the backyard, they found the priestess, with her noble face, grilling meat in broad daylight.

“… What kind of meat are you eating at this hour?”

“Oh, Julius? May the Lord’s grace be with you, and your wife.”

Priestess Emily made the sign of the cross with the tongs she used to grill the meat.

Cecile only bowed her head in silence. Her appearance, reflected in the priestess’s clear eyes, seemed even more dangerous than the day before.

‘Is she going to just stand by and watch?’

Suppressing the rising anxiety, Priestess Emily resumed grilling the meat.

“There’s something that’s been bothering me lately. I thought I should at least eat meat to relieve the stress.”

“Is that so…?”

Julius decided to wait and see for now. He felt a faint sense of relief seeing that Priestess Emily remained calm, even in Cecile’s presence.

‘One year. Just one year. I want to stay in this dream until then.’

He wondered if his thoughts could reach her.

The brown-haired woman walked up to the priestess with a twisted smile.

“Is there anything I can help you with, Mother?”

“…I’m not old enough to be called Mother.”

“Oh? Then what should I call you?”

“Just call me Priestess Emily. I couldn’t get married because I was busy raising Julius, but I’m still young. I’m not much older than Renelle, who’s running around that mill over there.”

Following Emily’s gesture, they saw Renelle running toward a dark-haired woman.

For some reason, it always seemed like Renelle was bullying Thalia whenever they crossed paths.

Julius’s head, which had been observing them, was suddenly turned.

Cecile gently cupped his face with both hands, smiling peacefully.

“No, don’t do that in front of me.”

Even when he looked away, the sensation lingered—a dark blue snake wrapping around his body, squeezing.

When he came to his senses, Cecile was already sitting in front of Priestess Emily, eating the grilled meat with pleasure.

***

In the garden of the church, at the center of the capital Lyriam, Priest Lian took a moment to enjoy some peace, away from the saint, who had come to the palace on official business.

These days, Lian was risking his life with increasingly reckless actions—things he never thought he’d do in his lifetime.

It all began when he was appointed as an aide to the saint.

After the death of Cecile Lionelta, wife of the Special Inquisitor and daughter of the saint, Lian uncovered a terrible plan the saint was hatching.

Late one night, after checking the stock of holy water stored in the basement, he overheard a conversation between the saint and a devil.

It was a mad scheme—to gather the power of high-ranking devils and warp time. A ridiculous plan that could plunge the entire world into chaos, all to save the saint’s daughter.

Lian, who had lived his life without drawing much attention, managed to escape undetected.

At first, he thought it was a dream and tried to dismiss it. But the saint’s increasing visits to the forbidden library confirmed his worst fears.

Then, one day, Lian saw Krail leaving with Cecile’s body and decided to follow him in secret.

He was caught when Krail completed his transaction and emerged from the shadows.

“…I never imagined someone would follow me. I’d have thought you were an assassin, the way you hid your presence.”

“Well, I didn’t see anything! Please, please spare me, Inquisitor!”

Desperately pleading with the younger man, Lian was offered a deal by Krail.

In exchange for his life, he would help thwart the saint’s plan.

Lian, who had walked the path of a priest only because his father had insisted, had always admired the brilliance of people like Brukin, Emily, Julius, and Krail.

But Lian was also a man. And there are moments in a man’s life when he simply cannot give up.

With a determined expression, Lian clenched his fists and pulled a small piece of a mirror from inside his robe.

It was a fragment he had secretly stolen when the connection to Kente Village was cut off by the saint’s orders.

This piece of the mirror would allow him to send a message to the isolated place where a bet between the devil and God’s servant was unfolding.

If Krail’s plan succeeded, the devil’s dream would grow stronger, and Cecile would gradually, fully resurrect.

The day Cecile became complete, she would have to come to the capital.

After all, the only person capable of stopping the saint was his daughter.

Recalling the innocent girl’s antics, Lian clasped his trembling hands tightly.

Things are Not Looking Good: Yes, things are not looking good. As you know, translation requires a lot of time and energy. I translate, edit and proofread the chapters on my own. I will be honest here, I started translating as a hobby, then it evolved to a hope of earning a living by doing something I enjoy.

However, I suffered a chain of misfortunes during and after the pandemic, and earnings from FSM and RTV helped me a lot. It became a significant part of my life. As long as my monthly income bordered around $200, I could make the time to translate in the middle of other works. Then RTV ended, and the earning decreased. Now, it has decreased to around $90-$100. And with PETTV nearing completion, that would decrease even more. A*dsence gets me about $ 0.50 per day, and you can’t get the payment until it reaches $100, so I can’t depend on that either.

It wouldn’t be an issue in normal circumstances, but it matters a lot to me since I am still dealing with a lot of financial troubles. I am currently looking for a job, and will have to invest my time and energy in it once I get it.

Long story short, if you enjoy reading this novel, support the translation if you can, either by becoming a Patron in Patreon, or sponsoring chapters at BuymeaCoffee. You can also take some time to watch a*ds to increase the revenue on A*dsence. Grains of sand together can form a desert.

FSM supporters has been supporting me from the start no matter what, so I would continue to translate FSM as long as I am alive. But for the other projects, I now desperately need your support so that I can spend the time and energy to serve them to you all. That’s all. Thank you.
