Chapter 108: Helping Mei’er

Zhang Yu’s father had also been injured at a construction site, and the boss responsible was named Feng Xinghua!

In a city like this, both Zhang Yu’s enemy and the Feng Xinghua that Xiao Kun mentioned were undoubtedly the same person.

I had always wanted to help Zhang Yu get his revenge, but my abilities were too limited.

Now, after seeing Aunt Zhao’s family’s situation, my hatred for Feng Xinghua grew even deeper.

What he had done was beyond human comprehension. Calling him a scoundrel would be an understatement.

Since he could be a boss, he must have money, and he likely had enough influence to suppress any incident. He probably held some minor power as well.

This wasn’t something I could act on recklessly, but neither could I simply let it go.

In a few days, after finishing my training with Long Qingyang, I would be leaving this city. Before leaving, I had to do something for Zhang Yu.

As for Fatty, aside from worrying about his personality, there wasn’t much else to be concerned about. His family was well-off, his parents had stable government jobs, and as their only child, he wouldn’t go hungry.

I left 500 yuan for Aunt Zhao—not much, but enough to help them temporarily. Since she might not accept it if I gave it to her directly, I slipped it secretly into Xiao Kun’s pants pocket.

“Xia Tian, Aunt Zhao’s family is so pitiful!” Mei’er said with a sorrowful expression.

I smiled bitterly and sighed. “In mythology, when immortals made mistakes, their greatest punishment was being banished to the mortal world. Maybe in our past lives, we were all immortals, and the hardships we face in this life are the sins we need to atone for…”

After saying this, I unconsciously shed tears. Perhaps I had indeed committed grave sins in my past life, leading to my parents leaving me so early.

“Xia Tian…” Mei’er looked at me with pain in her eyes, softly calling my name.

I wiped away my tears and smiled. “I’m fine. Let’s go home!”

“Okay, okay!” Mei’er nodded emphatically, taking my arm as we headed to the bus stop.

“Xia Tian, that Feng Xinghua is truly despicable. Why hasn’t anyone stopped him? Don’t humans have laws?” Mei’er asked, puzzled.

I paused, sighed, and replied, “Things aren’t as simple as they seem. Laws… they’re meant to restrain ordinary people. They don’t always apply to everyone.”

“In ancient times, even the emperor was subject to the same laws as the common folk. Why is it that now, without an emperor, the classes among humans are so distinctly divided?” Mei’er’s question left me speechless. I chuckled bitterly and said, “Let’s not talk about this. Try on the new clothes instead!”

Opening the door, I placed the shopping bags on the sofa and took out two white T-shirts, one large and one small. Paired with the jeans, they made for a perfect couple’s outfit.

“Mei’er, wait a moment!” I told her before heading to the bedroom to grab a black permanent marker.

I spread the smaller T-shirt flat on the table and said to Mei’er, “Sit across from me.”

“Xia Tian, what are you doing?” Mei’er asked curiously.

I smiled. “You’ll see in a moment. Don’t move.”

“Okay…” Although she didn’t understand, Mei’er obediently sat on the sofa.

About ten minutes later, I held up the shirt and grinned. “Done!”

“It’s so cute!” Mei’er exclaimed, delighted by the cartoon character on the shirt.

I smiled and pointed at the drawing. “That’s you, Mei’er!”

“Mei’er’s face isn’t that big, though…” she muttered, puzzled.

Hearing this, I nearly cried. It was true—introducing someone from centuries ago to modern aesthetics was no easy task.

I drew a cartoon version of myself on the larger T-shirt. Both characters were in profile, and when placed together, they appeared to be kissing.

Mei’er, unaware of this detail, remained blissfully oblivious. I suddenly felt a bit mischievous.

Handing her the clothes and jeans, I smiled. “Try them on in the bedroom and see how they look.”

Mei’er nodded happily and went into the bedroom—but not before locking the door! Damn it! I guessed her mind-reading skills weren’t always a good thing!

After putting on my own clothes and checking myself in the mirror, I couldn’t help but smirk. Damn, I looked sharp!

Honestly, ever since I started cultivating, my demeanor and appearance had significantly improved. With my decent height, I could almost pass for a “tall, rich, and handsome” guy—if only my clothes weren’t so plain.

Just as I finished buckling my belt, Mei’er’s voice called out from the bedroom. “Xia Tian, come help Mei’er!”

“What’s wrong?” I replied, heading to the door. I turned the knob, but it was locked. “Mei’er, open the door!”

“Okay,” she answered. Moments later, the door opened—and I nearly had a nosebleed.

Mei’er stood there wearing only the T-shirt and a pair of small undergarments. Damn! Was this little demon trying to tempt me?!

Noticing my gaze, Mei’er blushed and said, “Xia Tian, Mei’er doesn’t know how to put these on.” She held up the jeans.

I swallowed hard and said, “Let me help you.”

“Okay…” Mei’er lowered her head, almost burying it in her ample chest.

“First, put your feet through the pant legs…” I guided her step by step, but the process inevitably involved some skin contact, which left me flustered. I had to fight the urge to push her down.

“Finally, zip it up, and it’s done!” Standing behind her, I gently zipped the jeans.

Blushing, Mei’er whispered, “Xia Tian, you… you’re pressing against me again…”

“Huh?” I froze, then realized what she meant. My “little Xia Tian” had risen to attention. Embarrassed, I quickly stepped back and laughed awkwardly. “I-I need to use the bathroom!” With that, I bolted out of the room.

“Phew…” Mei’er was truly a little demon. Even her unintentional actions could drive me to the edge!

Calming myself down, I decided to call Qin Shousheng. It was time to dig into Feng Xinghua’s background.

“Xia Tian, what a surprise to get a call from you,” Qin Shousheng’s hearty laugh came through as soon as the call connected.

I chuckled. “My master gave me the day off, so I thought I’d take the chance to call you, Uncle Qin.”

“Alright, cut the flattery! You only call when you need something. Spill it—what do you need help with this time?” Qin Shousheng joked.

He wasn’t wrong. I always sought his help for something.

“Uncle Qin, do you know someone named Feng Xinghua?” With Qin Shousheng’s influence, he should have some information.

Qin Shousheng paused before replying, “Feng Xinghua? I’ve never heard of him.”

How was that possible? Even Qin Shousheng didn’t know Feng Xinghua? Could it be that this man’s power exceeded Qin Shousheng’s?!

Get More Chapters on Patreon: From now on, FSM Level 2 will become the CN WN Bundle. The price will remain the same which is $10. Also, the price for the KR WN Bundle will also be decreased to $10 to match this bundle.

With this I have gotten rid of the level system. The reason I am doing this, is because I plan to add more chapters to the $5 Patron tiers. Previously the readers got 2 advance chapters when they became a $5 Patron, but now I’ve increased the chapters they will get to at least 5 chapters and more. So the current updated tier system will work like this:

The Individual Tiers ($5) will give you access to 5 chapters or more. The Bundle Tiers ($10) will give you access to all the chapters of CN or KR webnovels. The Supreme Patron ($30) will give you access to all the webnovel chapters on Goblinslate.
