It was rare to have a leisurely day, so I decided to take Mei’er out for a stroll. It had been a while since I’d spent quality time with her.
Honestly, I felt a little guilty about it. But after training with Long Qingyang for so long, my progress had been significant—not just in strength or cultivation level, but in experience.
As Long Qingyang often emphasized, martial artists must remember three key principles: speed, precision, and ruthlessness. Now, I was fast enough, my eyes were sharp, and my strikes were merciless!
Although the gap between Long Qingyang and me was still immense, compared to my former self, it was like the difference between heaven and earth—no exaggeration.
What pleased me most was that the special forces soldiers who had been sparring partners no longer needed riot gear to practice sound-based positioning with me.
Even Long Qingyang himself hadn’t sent them to beat me up for a while. Maybe, in his eyes, I’d reached an acceptable standard.
In just over half a month, I’d pack my bags and head to Shenghua. Leaving this place, where I’d spent two years, for the capital made me feel reluctant. The place itself didn’t hold much attachment, but there were people here I didn’t want to part with.
I wondered if Fatty would get bullied or if Zhang Yu would still be as impulsive as ever. Though we were the same age, fate had set us on different paths.
Over the past few days, I’d been calling Fatty and Zhang Yu frequently. They probably thought I was acting strange. Every time I tried to tell them I was leaving, the words got stuck in my throat.
Since Long Qingyang had generously allowed me some time off, I decided to take Mei’er out to play and relax a bit. Lately, it felt like the only places I’d been were the training base and home.
When Mei’er heard I was taking her out, she was overjoyed.
The main reason for this outing was to buy Mei’er some undergarments. I suddenly recalled Sister Lin mentioning that Mei’er didn’t wear bras or panties. Although Sister Lin had bought her a few after they became close, I still felt it wasn’t enough.
As we entered a lingerie shop, the greeter froze for a moment upon seeing me, then said, “Welcome!”
“Do you have something in her size?” I quietly asked one of the sales clerks.
The clerk hesitated, then smiled. “I’m not sure. What size is she?”
“About this big…” I gestured with my hands, causing the clerk to blush and stammer, “I’ll take your girlfriend to the fitting room for measurements.”
“Mei’er, go with her,” I said, letting Mei’er follow the clerk while I wandered around the store. Thankfully, I didn’t have any odd preferences, or I might have found it hard to contain myself. Even so, I still felt a slight urge to get a nosebleed.
When we finally left the shop, I felt much lighter. The stares from the women earlier had been unbearable.
“What kind of clothes do you like, Mei’er?” I asked as she clung to my arm.
Ever since I first met Mei’er—when she wore nothing at all—she had always been in a long white dress. She never changed her outfit. While she always looked clean and pure, seeing the same thing for so long made it less appealing.
Mei’er looked at me and smiled. “Mei’er likes dresses.”
Her response left me at a loss for words. She’d been wearing dresses for so long and still preferred them.
Given Mei’er’s innocent personality, she did look lovely in dresses. But I wanted to try a different style for her—like a white T-shirt with jeans, which would look fresh and lively.
To be honest, I had a wicked thought: how would Mei’er look in a miniskirt and black stockings? After all, as a fox demon, she naturally exuded a bit of allure.
But that was just a thought. If Mei’er really dressed like that, I wasn’t sure I could handle it. Clothes that looked great on someone else’s girlfriend often felt inappropriate on your own. If she were to wear something like that, it would only be for my eyes, not for others to ogle.
“You already have a dress, don’t you? This summer, let me buy you something different,” I said, patting her head with a smile.
To my surprise, Mei’er looked puzzled. “But Mei’er only likes dresses…”
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Sighing, I took her hand and led her into a clothing shop.
I never visited brand-name stores. First, they were expensive, and second, they were a hassle. Being a penniless guy, I mostly shopped online.
Stall prices were naturally cheaper than online, but due to my height, it was hard to find anything that fit.
I hadn’t planned to visit a brand-name store this time either. After all, some things I wanted weren’t available there.
“Take a look and let me know if you like anything,” the shopkeeper, a woman, said while eating her lunch.
“Mei’er, see if there’s anything you like,” I told her.
Mei’er wandered around the store and then shook her head. “Mei’er doesn’t like any of these.”
The shopkeeper put down her food, wiped her mouth, and said, “How could that be? Look, these are all the latest designs this year. Lots of young girls love them!” She pointed to some petite denim shorts and low-cut tops.
“We’ll come back later,” I said, pulling Mei’er out of the shop.
I preferred simple designs or items with just a logo rather than flashy colors.
The most daring outfit I’d ever worn was probably the “I Love Teacher Cang!” T-shirt Zhang Yu and I bought online. I only wore it for one day before Wang Tong confiscated it.
After checking a few more stores, we couldn’t find anything suitable. I ended up buying two pairs of jeans—one for men and one for women—with slightly darker shades. Hopefully, they wouldn’t bleed color.
I had plenty of tops that went well with jeans, but Mei’er only had her dress. Adding jeans to her wardrobe didn’t seem to fit.
DIY was popular now, so I considered buying plain white T-shirts from a roadside stall and customizing them myself.
“Come with me!” I said, leading Mei’er out of the mall toward the street stalls.
Even in the heat, the stalls were bustling.
The quality of goods at roadside stalls wasn’t great, but they were cheap. Many styles imitated brand-name designs, and occasionally, you’d find decent knock-offs.
After wandering for a while, we found a stall selling plain white T-shirts.
The vendor was an older woman with salt-and-pepper hair, her skin deeply tanned by the sun.
Seeing us approach, she quickly smiled and asked, “What are you looking for?”
The stall had various items, not just clothes. Most were handmade crafts.
“We’ll take four white T-shirts,” I said. Originally, I’d planned to buy two, but seeing the woman’s condition made me feel sympathetic. At her age, she was still working under the scorching sun to make a living.
“F-Four?!” The woman was surprised but quickly smiled. “Alright, alright, I’ll wrap them up for you.”
“How much?” I asked as she handed me the package. Reaching into my pocket, I was about to pay when a frantic shout came from the distance:
“The city patrol is here! Run, everyone!”
Patreon Tiers Just Got More Affordable: From now on, FSM Level 2 will become the CN WN Bundle. The price will remain the same which is $10. Also, the price for the KR WN Bundle will also be decreased to $10 to match this bundle.
With this I have gotten rid of the level system. The reason I am doing this, is because I plan to add more chapters to the $5 Patron tiers. Currently the readers get 2 advance chapters when they become a $5 Patron, but I want to increase the chapters they get to at least 5 chapters and more. So the current updated tier system will work like this:
The Individual Tiers ($5) will give you access to 5 chapters or more.
The Bundle Tiers ($10) will give you access to all the chapters of CN or KR webnovels.
The Supreme Patron ($30) will give you access to all the webnovel chapters on Goblinslate.
