Three people.
This required just a trivial bit of footwork that I wouldn’t even call a ‘skill.’ And with a bit of persuasion, and the three bullies flew back after being struck in the face.
“So you all came here for revenge, it that right?”
“Who the hell are you…?” the leader of the group stammered, stepping back.
A line that felt like it belonged in a romantic comedy manga crossed my mind. But the words themselves failed to come out of my mouth. So in the end…
“I’m just an ordinary student studying Japanese history,” I replied calmly.
“D*mn it! Do you know what it means to mess with Evil Heart? You won’t get away with this!”
“Noisy.”
The leader screamed and thrust his fist at me.
I struck it lightly with the back of my hand, sending him flying with one blow.
Woh!
It seemed that the leader, with his signature regent-style haircut, had passed out after landing headfirst into the trash can.
This event was quite dangerous. Had this even appeared in the original story? As I searched my memory, I couldn’t recall. It was probably just a one-off episode.
“Are you okay, Kamiyama?”
“Ki—Kim-kun!”
Ohana looked like she was about to burst into tears.
I opened my mouth to reassure her, “Come on, let’s go. Didn’t you promise to teach me how to study?”
“Ah, yes… And… you helped me again, Kim-kun.”
“What?”
Her words were too faint for me to catch, so I asked again.
Damn it. Why did my hearing always seem to fail me at crucial moments? It was as if fate deliberately silenced important words, especially from the heroines.
“Oh, no! I didn’t say anything at all!”
“Really? If that’s the case, I’m glad. Shall we go?”
“Yes!”
I headed home with Ohana.
****
Upon arriving at Ohana’s house, she told me to wait while she led me to her room.
Ohana’s room was unmistakably girly.
If Amelia’s room exuded aristocratic elegance, Ohana’s had the opposite vibe. Stuffed toys in various animal shapes and remnants of knitting projects were scattered across the room. Slightly messy clothes lay in random corners.
‘I’d like to tidy up a bit, but touching anything might make her think I’m strange…’
I decided to stay put. When Ohana returned, she would probably handle it herself.
As I sat waiting, I heard footsteps approaching.
Ohana opened the door and entered.
“Oh, sorry for the delay, Kim-kun! I didn’t want to strain my throat, so I brought some snacks and drinks for studying.”
As she said this, Ohana suddenly noticed the state of her room. Her eyes widened in panic.
“Kim-kun! Wait a moment, please! Just step out for a little while!”
“Oh, uh, okay.”
I grabbed my bag and carefully stepped outside. As the door closed behind me, I heard the sound of frantic cleaning from within.
Crash! Thud!
The chaos sounded like she was shoving everything into hiding places.
‘She’ll take care of it,’ I thought, whistling softly to myself.
After a while, Ohana opened the door, her breath ragged.
“Phew… Ahem. Come in, Kim-kun.”
“Oh, excuse me.”
When I stepped back inside, the room was much neater. It seemed she had managed to stash away her clothes and other items.
“Oh, welcome to my room!”
“Thank you. Let’s start studying.”
I sat down and got straight to work.
Why had I asked Kamiyama Ohana to teach me? Amelia didn’t know much about Japanese history, and the same went for Rachel and Ed, who worked as servants. I couldn’t ask them to help, nor did I want to trouble Amelia further.
‘Come to think of it, this event wasn’t meant for me.’
Originally, this was supposed to be an event between Ryunosuke and Ohana. I had unintentionally hijacked it.
A pang of guilt made me consider stepping back, but then a thought struck me.
If I drew all the attention of the heroines who were supposed to flock to Ryunosuke, wouldn’t Amelia be the only one left for him? This way, Amelia and Ryunosuke could naturally connect, leading to a happy ending.
This was a brilliant plan! I grinned at the thought.
Ohana, however, looked startled, “That… that smile of yours, Kim-kun… It looks so evil. Could you tone it down a bit?”
“Oh, sorry.”
“Now, let’s focus on our studies. You can solve this here, and this one there…”
And so, we continued studying.
***
About two hours had passed, and it was nearly dinnertime.
“Hmm, that was productive. Thanks, Kamiyama. I’ll head out now.”
Just as I was about to stand, Ohana stopped me.
“Wait a minute! Kim-kun, if it’s okay… would you like to stay for dinner at my house?”
This time, her voice was clear, and her words reached me perfectly.
