Chapter 11: Zombies

On the way here, Li Yunyang made sure to introduce the two of them to each other.

The granddaughter of the headmaster was named Sun Yueying. She was currently the third strongest in the Great Sealing Sect. It was said that the first strongest was a person named Li Yunhua, who had already reached the peak of the Spirit Condensation stage. The second strongest was called Di Fu, who had also reached the peak of the Spirit Condensation stage, but he was still slightly inferior to Li Yunhua.

Li Yunyang could only rank fourth. The first and second strongest of the Great Sealing Sect were currently training outside, but they would definitely return for the Four Sect Martial Competition.

“Don’t worry, old man. We’ll go with you now, and we will definitely resolve this matter,” Sun Yueying said, stepping forward and holding the elderly man’s hand to comfort him as she saw the worried look on his face.

“Thank you. You are all like immortals. With your help, there should be no problem.”

The villagers were very simple and unsophisticated people. They didn’t have much experience outside their small community and only knew how to farm. Those who practiced minor spells in various sects were all regarded as immortals by them.

After that, the three of them followed the old man down the mountain to a small village.

Before long, they arrived.

On the way, the old man explained the situation in detail.

Originally, the people in this village had always lived well, but not long ago, a villager suddenly went mad, his eyes turned blood-red, and he would bite and claw at anyone he saw. Two people were scratched by him, and another was bitten to death. No one knew what was going on. Normally, this person was very kind and often helped the elderly widows in the village. How could he do such a thing? However, they couldn’t let him continue like this, so the villagers had him captured and locked up.

The person he bit to death had always been alone, with no relatives, so the villagers buried him together. The other two were taken home by their families, who bandaged their wounds.

They originally thought that the storm had passed, but the following events completely exceeded everyone’s expectations.

The wounds of the two who had been scratched showed no signs of healing, and their minds became more and more confused. Finally, one night, they went completely berserk. Their eyes turned blood-red, and they attacked their own family members, scratching several people.

The villagers who came running upon hearing the news were stunned at the scene. They immediately tied the two up, along with the one who had originally been captured.

But at that moment, an even more terrifying thing happened. The person they had buried crawled out of the grave. His facial muscles had already decayed, but he seemed completely unaware. He had a sinister smile, like an evil ghost from hell, and attacked the villagers. With everyone’s combined efforts, they finally subdued him and tied him up.

However, after this incident, a total of fifteen people were scratched. Anyone who was scratched or bitten lost their sanity within a day, attacking anyone they saw. Unfortunately, they were all tightly bound by the villagers. Seeing the situation, the village chief had no choice but to go up the mountain to seek help from the Great Sealing Sect.

By the time they reached the small village, it was almost dusk.

As soon as Tian Fan set foot in the village, he felt a sinister atmosphere, a feeling that was deeply disturbing. He furrowed his brows and turned his head, noticing that the other two did not seem to feel anything.

As the old man returned to the village, a crowd gathered around him.

“Village chief, how did it go? Did you find anyone to help?”

“Yes, village chief, are they willing to help us?”

At this moment, someone noticed Tian Fan and the other two, and asked the old man, “Village chief, who are these three people?”

“Could they be the immortals?”

“That’s not right! Immortals always have long white beards, but they don’t have any,” a small child, hiding behind his father, said with a voice that was both adorable and innocent.

“Alright, everyone, quiet down,” the old man coughed and addressed the crowd. “These three are the ones I invited down from the mountain. They will definitely help us solve our problem.”

“They really are immortals!”

“The immortals have come to save us; now we’re saved!”

“With the immortals here, nothing bad will happen to us.”

The entire village was excited, with everyone wanting to invite the three into their homes, hoping to bring a bit of celestial aura into their households.

This made the three of them feel quite embarrassed; the villagers were just too enthusiastic.

In the end, the old village chief had to step forward to calm the overly excited villagers and said, “Everyone, please wait. The most important thing now is to let these three immortals help save our loved ones first, then we can invite them to a gathering!”

“Yes, yes, let the three immortals save our villagers first.”

“That’s right, we almost made things worse!”

“This way, let me lead the way. This way, please, three immortals; our wounded are over there.”

The three were led by the villagers to a large, vacant courtyard filled with many trees.

As soon as Tian Fan and the others entered, they saw over a dozen people tied to the trees, each with disheveled hair, their faces indistinguishable. As they sensed someone entering, the nearest person suddenly lifted his head and let out a roar in their direction. His eyes were blood-red, and sharp fangs protruded from his mouth. He growled and struggled furiously, trying to lunge forward.

When the three of them got a clearer look at the person’s face, they were all shocked. Could this still be considered a human? The person’s entire face was already rotting, emitting a putrid stench. It was utterly disgusting. His eyes were blood-red, his eyelids were blackened, yellowish foul-smelling saliva dripped from the corners of his mouth, and the fangs at the sides of his mouth were exceptionally sharp.

“Be careful, immortals! They have lost all sanity and are very dangerous!” Although the villagers knew that these three were not ordinary people and possessed great supernatural abilities, one of them still offered a kind warning.

Through the villagers, the three learned that this person was named Zhang Gu, the same person who had supposedly died before. He had clearly stopped breathing and was buried by the villagers in the west of the village. Yet, unexpectedly, he crawled out of his grave and started attacking people.

Tian Fan and his companions, being cultivators, could sense a person’s aura with a bit of observation. But in this person, they sensed no human aura at all — this was merely a corpse!

Yet here it was, a corpse, moving around and injuring people.

They continued to examine everyone tied to the trees, a total of fifteen people: nine men and six women. Aside from Zhang Gu, the others were in various stages of muscle decay and mold, and their minds were clearly muddled. However, they still had the aura of living people. Seeing this, the three of them had a rough understanding of the situation.

“What do you think, Senior Brother Li?” After checking everyone, Sun Yueying asked Li Yunyang with a serious expression.

Li Yunyang furrowed his brows, thought silently for a moment, and then said in a deep voice, “If I’m not mistaken, there is a Zombie King here!”
