Chapter 139: Senior, Please Wait!

To be honest, the rent for this apartment wasn’t expensive, given the size of the place. But losing 100,000 just like that still didn’t sit well with me.

When I returned to Room 213, there was no one in the dormitory—everyone had probably gone out to sign up for clubs.

I packed my things into my travel bag, sighed, and left.

Looking at the set of keys in my hand, I couldn’t help but feel a slight headache. I had no idea what kind of person I’d be sharing the apartment with.

Sister Lin was handling the forum post, but the phone number left behind was mine.

Since I paid the rent upfront, once I found all the tenants, I could get back 80,000. But Sister Lin’s 20,000… I wasn’t too sure about that. If she didn’t pay me back, that would be a real pain.

Taking a deep breath, I chose a comfortable bedroom, unpacked my belongings, locked the apartment door, and headed to the club recruitment area.

Not joining a club in university felt like something was missing, so I figured I should at least take a look.

“Come check it out! The Chess Club is recruiting!”

“The Basketball Club is recruiting! If you love basketball, come on over, freshmen!”

“Want to see beautiful seniors every day? If so, sign up for the Dance Club!”

“The Go Club…”

It was lively everywhere, with people holding signs and handing out flyers to recruit members.

“The Martial Arts Club is recruiting! We’ve got stunning seniors here! Come join us!” A pleasant yet exceptionally loud voice rang out. I turned my head and saw a tall, energetic girl holding up a sign and shouting.

Yet, not a single freshman approached her, which I found quite strange.

Beside her, a male voice spoke weakly, “Senior, just stop shouting. No one’s going to sign up.”

“I’ll shout a little longer—maybe someone will come!” Though the girl acted indifferent, a hint of disappointment flashed across her face.

“Senior, you know our Martial Arts Club hasn’t had many recruits in the past two years. Nowadays, young people prefer flashy martial arts like Taekwondo and Karate. Who’s going to join us?” The guy muttered under his breath, “If I’d known, I wouldn’t have come out with you.”

“I just don’t get it. That Karate Club was started by a d*mn J*panese guy, so why are so many people joining it?” The girl sighed helplessly.

The guy smirked. “Because the dude is handsome. Plus, his mom is J*panese, but technically, he’s still one of us. And he knows how to talk, so naturally, he attracts more people.”

“Are you saying I’m not pretty?” The girl pouted in dissatisfaction.

The guy laughed. “Senior, your temper is infamous in Shenghua. No matter how pretty you are, who would dare approach you?”

“You’re asking for it!” The girl gritted her teeth and glared at him. The guy panicked and quickly stood up. “Senior, it’s hot today. I’ll go buy you an ice pop!”

With that, he bolted.

Maybe he was too flustered because he didn’t even notice me and nearly crashed into me. I stepped aside just in time to dodge.

Realizing he almost bumped into me, the guy looked embarrassed and said, “Sorry about that!”

“No worries.” I smiled, not minding it.

Just then, the girl suddenly stepped forward and grabbed my hand. “Hey, handsome! Are you interested in martial arts? If so, why not join our Martial Arts Club?”

I was stunned for a moment, and before I could say anything, a nearly two-meter-tall guy approached. “Brother, you’re pretty tall. You should join our Basketball Club! That’s a real man’s sport—don’t waste your time with the Martial Arts Club, it’s all just flashy moves!”

Hearing that, the girl wasn’t happy. She glared at the big guy. “Song Zhigang, what do you mean by that?!”

“I think this freshman should join our Karate Club.” Just then, a handsome young man walked over. He had an imposing presence, but for some reason, I instinctively disliked him.

I could tolerate my friend Hao Shuai being more handsome than me—after all, he was my buddy. But now, even this guy was better looking? That was annoying.

“Lin Youchen! I saw him first! Your club already has plenty of members, stop trying to steal mine!” the girl shouted at the handsome guy.

Lin Youchen smiled. “Yang Xue, I’m not trying to steal anyone. The choice of which club to join is up to the freshman, isn’t it?”

“I like that reasoning, Lin Youchen.” Song Zhigang nodded. “Yang Xue, it’s up to him to decide!” He then turned to me. “Freshman, if you’re a real man, join our Basketball Club! That’s the sport that shows true masculinity!”

“I’d say the Soccer Club is the best. Make a name for yourself and bring honor to our national team!” Another person jumped into the conversation.

“Get lost, you smelly-feet club!” This time, I didn’t even need to speak—Lin Youchen, Yang Xue, and Song Zhigang all shouted in unison.

That person froze for a moment, then shrugged. “Fine, forget I said anything. Freshman, hello! Freshman, goodbye!” He quickly walked away.

“Hey, freshman, do you think I’m pretty?” Yang Xue walked up to me with a smile.

I chuckled. “Senior, you’re very pretty.”

“Since you think I’m pretty, then join our Martial Arts Club!” Yang Xue said with a wink.

Before I could respond, Song Zhigang added, “Freshman, like I said, basketball is the real man’s sport!”

Lin Youchen spread his hands. “I won’t say much, but everyone in Shenghua knows that our Karate Club has the most beautiful girls.”

“You two are doing this on purpose!” Yang Xue glared at Lin Youchen and Song Zhigang.

“Ahem!” I coughed lightly and said, “Senior and seniors, am I really that popular? Why are you all fighting over me?”

“I just think your height is perfect for basketball,” Song Zhigang said bluntly.

Yang Xue looked at me. “I saw how you dodged just now. You’re a natural for martial arts! As for him…” She shot a sharp glare at Lin Youchen. “He’s just here to mess with me!”

Lin Youchen chuckled. “Yang Xue, I’ve already told you—if you agree to date me, I’ll stop interfering.”

Yang Xue frowned. “Keep dreaming! Forget it, I don’t even want this guy anymore!” She turned around and walked away.

“Lin Youchen, if Yang Xue isn’t recruiting him anymore, then you should give up too, right?” Song Zhigang looked at Lin Youchen.

Lin Youchen waved his hand impatiently. “Fine, fine, I don’t want him either!”

What the hell? Weren’t they just fighting over me? Now they suddenly don’t want me anymore?

I was growing more and more annoyed with Lin Youchen. I was definitely going to piss him off!

With that thought, I called out, “Senior, please wait!”
