Chapter 17: Emily vs Cecil I (part 2)

This was a secret, but the higher the level of the devil, the closer it got to the void. That was why they had become completely one with her strong desire to live.

“Then, are you really Julius’s wife?”

“I was, and I still am, his wife.”

The expression on Cecile’s face as she said that was truly bitter, beyond words.

“… So? What do you want to ask me by revealing everything like this?”

“Instead of me and Julius, I need you to go to the capital sometime soon.”

“Then should I at least pack my bags now?”

“No, I will send you to the capital myself.”

When Cecil waved her hand, the air began to distort, and cracks appeared in the space. Witnessing the devil’s ridiculous power once more, she opened her eyes and asked.

“If you have such great power, why don’t you go there yourself?”

“Saint Erman, that is, because of a deal with my father.”

The details of the deal were that in exchange for releasing the seal and allowing them to make a deal with Mr. Krail, Julius and she could not return to the capital until the bet was over.

“Why did the saint release those high-ranking devils?”

“I can’t go into detail because of the transaction, but one thing is certain: if the plan is implemented, Julius will be in danger. So we need to disrupt the plan before it gets underway.”

“… So what am I going to do?”

“There are two things I would like you to do.”

Cecile continued, “I would like you to meet Priest Brukin in the capital and inform him of this, and the remaining task is Priestess Emily’s specialty.”

“… Specialty?”

“Yes, you are good at it, right? Demon fire sacrifice.”

The brightness of Cecile’s expression as she said that made Emily feel disgusted with the devil laughing in front of her.

“… Where have you been?”

Cecile let out a small sigh, seeing Julius, who had whispered love to her in the cabin in the flower field yesterday, but who had returned to his harsh tone as if nothing had happened.

“I just went to meet my mother-in-law for a moment.”

“You mean Priestess Emily? What business did you have with the priestess so early in the morning?”

“Oh, nothing special. I just told her that I became one with a high-ranking devil and was resurrected.”

Julius, hearing Cecile’s words, sat down on the sofa and literally spit out the coffee he had been drinking. She dodged the spray of coffee and calmly wiped it from the floor with magic.

“Please refrain from such pranks in the morning. We’re going to live together here while raising our second child, Ray, so it wouldn’t do to make a mess already.”

“Are you insane? Do you have any idea what will happen if it is revealed that you are a devil?”

Julius stood up, grabbed Cecile by the arm, and shook her. She turned her head away and pursed her lips.

“Tch, try showing affection like this on a regular basis. You only act when something like this happens.”

“… Yeah, I was a bit out of it that time.”

Julius calmed down, considering her words.

She had confessed to Emily that she was a devil, yet the priestess didn’t seem especially upset, and Cecile was unharmed.

“What did Priestess Emily say?”

“She said she wants to see her grandchildren as soon as possible.”

“…? She really said that?”

“Of course. I am your wife, but I’m also a devil. I can’t lie anymore.”

Cecile sheepishly opened her eyes and touched Julius’ chest.

“So, please accept this for the sake of filial piety. Don’t you think Leira would like a younger sibling?”

“What kind of nonsense it that?”

Julius glanced at her, shook his head, and walked away.

Cecile watched him blankly for a moment before hurrying to follow him.

“Really, really? Priestess Emily hopes for it, Mr. Krail hopes for it, Leira hopes for it—everyone hopes for it. All you have to do is change your mind!”

She regretted not pushing him yesterday when the mood had been good in the cabin, blaming herself for falling asleep after Julius treated her tenderly as he used to.

“Don’t talk nonsense. There’s no way I would do that with you.”

“When will you try to accept me as your wife? Are you already tired of me? I’m sorry. Please don’t discard me!”

Cecile clutched Julius’ waist and tried to pull him back, but he kept walking, and rumors of Julius having an affair began spreading among those on the way to the church.

***

“So, did she really say that?”

After a small exchange with Cecile, Emily, praying in the morning to calm her disturbed mind, opened her eyes and looked behind her when she heard the voice of her disciple, who was like a son to her.

Julius, with a serious expression, asked her a question, while a devil clung to his waist… the devil?

A brown-haired woman clung to his waist, mouthing words at Emily with a desperate look.

‘Keep it a secret.’

In the morning, she found herself wondering why she was involved in such strange antics.

The silver-haired priestess took a small breath as she watched the devil. Then, she looked at Julius and let out a small laugh.

“Hmm? Isn’t it Julius? What brings you here so early?”

“I came to ask you something. Did she…”

“Did she really tell me that she was a devil? Yes, she told me. I actually found it amusing.”

“… Is that really all there is?”

“So are you saying I should get rid of your wife? Of course, that was my initial thought. But, I think I’ve changed my mind. You’ll have to figure it out on your own.”

Julius tilted his head with a puzzled expression, and Cecile, clinging to his waist, let out a sigh of relief.

“… Can I ask you one more thing?”

“Hmm, what is it?”

Emily smiled mischievously, and Cecile shook her head desperately at the sight.

Julius observed them for a moment before speaking.

“Did you say you really miss your grandchildren?”

No answer came. Instead, Emily took something from her pocket and showed it to Julius, who was shocked by what was written there.

[Please read this aloud: “I hope to see many grandchildren as soon as possible.” Thank you for reading. –Cecile]

Julius frowned, realizing his back was now empty. He turned to look.

The large doors of the church were already wide open, and all he saw was Cecile’s figure running over the hill in haste.

“… I told you not to do anything that would tarnish her reputation.”

Gritting his teeth, Julius bowed slightly to Priestess Emily and then dashed after Cecile.

Watching the devil and the heretic inquisitor playing ‘catch me’ so early, Emily muttered a word without thinking.

“… Isn’t that just the kind of person your wife is?”

In response, the black bird perched on the church steeple chirped joyfully. Even that insignificant creature seemed to understand the nature of its owner.

Patreon Tiers Just Got More Affordable: From now on, FSM Level 2 will become the CN WN Bundle. The price will remain the same which is $10. Also, the price for the KR WN Bundle will also be decreased to $10 to match this bundle.

With this I have gotten rid of the level system. The reason I am doing this, is because I plan to add more chapters to the $5 Patron tiers. Currently the readers get 2 advance chapters when they become a $5 Patron, but I want to increase the chapters they get to at least 5 chapters and more. So the current updated tier system will work like this:

The Individual Tiers ($5) will give you access to 5 chapters or more.

The Bundle Tiers ($10) will give you access to all the chapters of CN or KR webnovels.

The Supreme Patron ($30) will give you access to all the webnovel chapters on Goblinslate.
