Chapter 175: Meeting an Old Acquaintance on the Beach

“I didn’t expect you to remember me!” Mei Xue smiled, still radiating the same pure and refreshing aura as when I first saw her in the hospital.

Noticing how long I’d been staring, Mei Xue blushed and quickly turned her head away.

“Hey, handsome! Long time no see!” Another familiar voice rang out—but why did it send a shiver down my spine?

When I turned around and finally got a good look at the figure, I could only utter one word: “D*mn!”

Holy crap, it’s “that” nurse! What kind of twisted joke is this?!

“Heh heh…” I forced a dry laugh and ignored her.

But she wasn’t having it. “Hey, handsome, I’m the one who saved your life! Can’t you at least show me some respect?”

Ugh, that cutesy “I’m the one” talk! Does she have to act so obnoxiously moe? Wait—she said she saved me? No way… Did she give me CPR?!

I gulped, my expression stiff. “You… you saved me?”

“Yep!” The Rottweiler nurse beamed excitedly.

Damn it! My chastity’s gone! Why do I taste something foul in my mouth?!

Seeing my silence, she continued, “If I hadn’t spotted you by the shore, you’d be dead by now!”

“So… you didn’t give me CPR?” I asked cautiously.

“Oh, stop!” She feigned shyness. “I did find you first, but the one who gave you CPR was Xiao Xue!”

“Phew…” I exhaled in relief. Thank goodness. If it was Mei Xue, that’s fine. She’s a pure girl—probably didn’t have any weird thoughts about it.

I glanced at Mei Xue, only to find her face burning red.

Wait—where’s Ziyan?! Wang Ziyan had fallen into the water with me. Even though I’d given her a burst of True Qi, she couldn’t have lasted long underwater.

“Took you long enough to ask about her!” Sister Lin shot me an annoyed look. “Relax, Ziyan’s fine. You washed up on the shore, but she was pulled straight into the helicopter.”

“Where is she now?” I still felt uneasy not seeing her.

“Her clothes were soaked, but she refused to leave. Since it was chilly, I had someone take her to change so she wouldn’t catch a cold.” Sister Lin smirked teasingly. “Still pretending you don’t like her? Why not take both her and Mei’er? A threesome sounds fun!”

“Why not add you to the mix?” I sat up, scowling.

“A foursome now?” Sister Lin raised an eyebrow. “Maybe when these girls finally grow bigger, I’ll give you a titty fuck!”

“Guess I’ll be waiting forever.” By the time Sister Lin’s chest grows, Xia Tian and I will be old and gray.

“Well, since everyone’s safe, that’s what matters.” I stood up, brushing sand off my clothes, which reeked of seawater.

Sister Lin sighed. “Do you have any idea how terrified we all were?”

“No big deal. As long as we’re alive.” I grinned, though my mind drifted back to the darkness where I’d seen my parents. I hope they’re doing well in heaven…

“Xia Tian, are you sure you’re okay?” Xu Xin asked worriedly.

I nodded. “I’m fine…” Then I turned to Mei’er.

“Hey, everyone else is fussing over me. Why haven’t you said anything?” I teased.

To my surprise, Mei’er’s eyes welled up with tears before she suddenly threw her arms around me, sobbing. “Mei’er thought… I’d never see Xia Tian again!”

“I’m tough to kill! Didn’t they say I’m a ‘nine-life virtuous man’? No way I’d die that easily.” Her sudden outburst left me flustered—especially in front of everyone.

She tightened her embrace. “But… but Mei’er was so scared!”

“Shh, it’s okay. Don’t cry—you’ll ruin your pretty face.” I wiped her tears away. In all our time together, I’d rarely seen her cry—if ever. She must’ve been that worried.

Sister Lin leaned in and whispered, “Mei’er tried to jump in after you. We had to hold her back. She kept saying she could fly, that she was a fox demon and would be fine… I think she was hysterical from fear. Comfort her when you can.”

My heart clenched. She risked exposing her true identity to save me? Thankfully, Sister Lin and the others didn’t seem to take it seriously.

Tang Shuyao timidly approached, stammering, “H-hey, narcissist… thank you.”

Her apology caught me off guard, but I smiled. “It’s nothing.”

“It’s my fault… If I hadn’t suggested coming today, we wouldn’t have taken the helicopter, and none of this would’ve happened…” Her voice was thick with guilt.

“I said it’s fine! Everyone’s safe, so let’s just enjoy the trip.” I gave her a reassuring grin.

Qin Mengdie, who had been silent until now, stepped forward. “…Thank you,” she murmured. “The Tang and Qin families will reward you generously.”

Qin Mengdie actually thanking me? That was unexpected—I never thought those words would leave her mouth.

“No big deal.” I shrugged, though internally, I was already scheming. Time to squeeze Qin Taisheng for a raise. I nearly died for this!

“By the way, Mei Xue, what are you doing here?” I asked, smiling. After all, she had saved my life.

“Our hospital organized a trip to Beidaihe,” she explained.

“Nice perks. But isn’t this vacation time?”

She giggled. “Not really. It’s a celebration for us intern nurses finishing our training.”

“Makes sense. You’re still a student, right? I always wondered why someone so young was already working.” I scratched my head awkwardly.

Mei Xue covered her mouth, laughing softly, then pointed at Mei’er. “Is she your girlfriend?”

“Yeah.” The question caught me off guard, and I rubbed my neck sheepishly.

A flicker of disappointment crossed Mei Xue’s eyes before she smiled again. “She’s lucky.”

“He’s the lucky one!” Sister Lin scoffed. “A girl as sweet as Mei’er ending up with this brat? What a waste!”

“Nooo! My handsome guy has a girlfriend?! My heart is broken!” The nurse wailed dramatically before running off. Was that really necessary?

“Don’t mind her… Ru Hua’s always like that,” Mei Xue said awkwardly.

I chuckled. “Yeah, no worries.” Like hell I’m not bothered!

“Xia Tian!” Wang Ziyan’s voice suddenly rang out. Before I could turn fully, she barreled into me, wrapping me in a tight hug.

“You’re awake… Thank goodness!” Her voice trembled, and I felt hot tears drip onto my shoulder.

I sighed. “What’s with everyone? I’m not dead ye—OW!” Before I could finish, sharp pain shot through my shoulder—she bit me!

“Don’t you ever push me away again!” she demanded, tears streaming but voice firm.

“It won’t happen again!” I grimaced. What the hell are her teeth made of? My skin can stop blades, but this hurts like hell!

Wait… what does biting me have to do with pushing her away?!
