With a sigh, I put on the uniform. It fit perfectly, almost as if it had been tailored to my measurements.
“Not bad,” I muttered.
After dressing, I opened the door and found the same maid waiting outside.
She bowed politely.
“You’re ready. Let’s go.”
“Yes.”
Following her down the quiet hallway, I was led to a grand dining hall. The sight inside resembled a noble’s banquet, and I almost let out a gasp of surprise. Instead, I kept my composure and took the seat the maid indicated.
Across from me sat Amelia, wearing a satisfied expression.
“Did you enjoy your rest?” she asked.
“I feel refreshed after the bath,” I replied.
Amelia’s eyes lingered on me, a mischievous glint in them.
“For some reason, men always look good in butler uniforms,” she teased.
“Thank you for the clothes,” I said politely.
“Oh-ho! I’m glad you think so. Were you nervous about wearing them?”
Not wanting to feed her ego, I smiled faintly and kept my thoughts to myself.
As we talked, Ed snapped his fingers again, signaling the maids to serve the food.
The variety was overwhelming, and I could hardly keep up.
Amelia noticed my distracted expression and smiled.
“Why are you staring at me instead of eating?”
“I was wondering… why go to such lengths for me?”
Her expression softened. “Didn’t I tell you? It’s my way of showing gratitude to my benefactor. Please, allow me to repay your kindness today.”
Unable to argue, I nodded and began eating. The soup served as an appetizer was delicious, and I quietly enjoyed it.
“Seeing you enjoy your meal makes me happy too,” Amelia said warmly.
“It’s hard not to enjoy it—it’s really good,” I replied with a grin.
“By the way, what were you doing in the park?”
“I had nowhere else to go,” I admitted.
Her face fell, her expression tinged with sympathy, as if she were looking at an abandoned puppy.
“Come to think of it,” she said, “I never properly asked—what’s your name?”
The name of the character was Shingo Kurosawa.
But unfortunately, I wasn’t him.
I was Kim Hyunjin.
It wasn’t a name I wanted to forget.
“Hyunjin…my name is Kim Hyunjin.”
“Kimu, Hyeon… Jin? Oh, were you Korean?”
Amelia struggled with the pronunciation, her accent clumsy but sincere.
“Yes, I am Korean,” I answered.
“What about school?” she asked curiously.
I searched through the memories of Shingo Kurosawa. School was never a part of his—or rather, “my”—life. After losing both parents and becoming an orphan, life became a blur of homelessness and odd jobs, barely scraping by.
“I didn’t go,” I admitted.
“I see…” Amelia looked troubled for a moment, then gave a small, determined nod as if making a sudden decision.
“Well, that works out perfectly.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’ve been meaning to ask—though it’s a bit sudden. Would you like to be my butler?”
“Butler…?”
“Yes. Kimu, Hyeonjin… You helped me, and I think there won’t be any lack of food for you if you stay.”
This development felt oddly sudden—almost like one of those over-the-top romance comedies. Was this really how things were going to unfold?
I started to understand why Shingo and Amelia’s first meeting wasn’t fully explored in the original narrative. The artist probably didn’t want to leave a blemish on the work’s reputation—a story praised online as a masterpiece for faithfully reproducing and imitating old storytelling tropes.
So, this was the kind of twist I was dealing with? Not that I minded, but… It did feel like a bit of a cliché.
Still, I gave a small nod. “…I will.”
If I didn’t accept, the story wouldn’t move forward.
“Oh, you agreed just like that?” Amelia looked surprised. “I thought you’d turn me down at least once.”
“There’s no reason to refuse a job,” I replied.
“Even so, I was worried. I don’t have many servants close to my age.”
She turned toward one of the house staff. “Ed?”
“Yes, milady,” Ed answered with a polite bow.
“After dinner, please have the Lionheart family butler explain his duties to him.”
“As you wish.” Ed gave another slight bow, his formal demeanor sharp and refined.
There was a certain charm in the way an older man like him carried himself with such grace. Would I have to learn to act like that too?
Amelia grinned. “Dinner takes a while, so make sure to eat slowly.”
I wasn’t entirely sure where things were headed, but I’d lived my life as Kim Hyunjin until now.
It was time to adjust to life in the body of Shingo Kurosawa.
Sponsor Chapters at the Patreon Shop: Along with BuymeaCoffee where you can now make payments in your local currency.
The Shop section on Patreon can be used as a way to make a one-time-payment. I will be creating products in the Shop section with the title of the webnovels. It will only have an image as the product, but it will count as the payment for the Sponsored Chapters.
For example: You will buy the product with the title “Flower Stealing Master” to sponsor a chapter for the novel. As far as I know, you can buy the same product multiple times, so you should be able to sponsor as many chapters you want. I hope it was easy to understand.
