Chapter 2: The Greatest Hypnotist of All Time II
The cold, clear air brushes against me.
I take a deep breath into my lungs and exhale with force. Iāve successfully transferred to another world.
As I had set it up, I landed right in the middle of a forest.
There were various starting optionsālike being summoned as a prisoner sentenced to death, a hero to save the kingdom, or by a mysterious grand sageābut I rejected them all.
When I was about to transfer, I wanted no backstory or ties to weigh me down.
What matters is what happens from now on.
I started roughly in a forest, but I received what I needed.
“Status Open.”

I confirm the blessing and agent qualifications Beleira gave me.
According to Beleira, thereās already an agent of another god in this world, and encountering them could be dangerous.
It might even spark a major conflict between the gods.
Beleira took a riskāthough I made her do itāand sent me crashing into another godās world.
Anyway, what are the odds Iād run into a hero meant to save the world?
Iāll just avoid them and enjoy my new life.
They say this world has creatures called monsters.
I heard the monsters in this forest can be defeated with basic magic, but I canāt let my guard down.
Since Iāve been granted this blessing, I want to build enough strength to avoid dying pointlessly to a random blade.
My immediate goal is to find a village where people live while taking down any monsters I can along the way.
“Inventory Open.”
Iād gotten a brief explanation before coming here, but since this function didnāt exist in my original world, it feels unfamiliar.
The personal storage function and status guide granted to an agent of the goddess.
After opening and closing it a few times, I realize I donāt need to say it out loud.
First, I check the few items Beleira gave meāor rather, that I took from her.
[Starlight Clam] [Focus Bracelet] [Eight-Colored Giant Clam] [Goddessās Water Bottle]
I definitely asked for items useful for traveling, but at a glance, two of them seem utterly useless.
What am I supposed to do with clams, seriously?
She wouldnāt have given me pointless stuff on purpose. Maybe Beleira didnāt have much worth taking.
Iāll figure them out one by one.
“Goddessās Water Bottle.”
The bottle shifts from my inventory into my hand.
Itās a slender, long-necked bottle, like something out of a fox-and-crane fable. When I shake it, I hear liquid inside.
Should I drink it right away?
“Hmm.”
(Fatigue has been recovered.)
Itās just water.
The unique thing is that the water in the bottle never runs out.
I test it by pouring some on the ground, and it flows endlessly.
“Not bad.”
Water is essential for survival. It seems Beleira understood what I meant.
The Focus Bracelet is an equippable item, so I put it on my wrist and take out the Starlight Clam.
Itās small enough to fit in one hand, a pretty little clam.
When Beleira pulled it out, she whimpered, ćNot this oneā¦ć so it must be valuable.
I canāt tell what itās worth, though. Maybe Iāll get it appraised later? If it turns out to be a collectorās item, Iāll sell it off.
The Eight-Colored Giant Clam is, as the name suggests, massive.
Even in my inventory, it feels big enough to spread out on the ground like a mat and sit on, so I decide to check it later.
Right now, I just want to get moving.
At that moment, I hear the bushes rustling loudly.
I quickly hide behind a large rock nearby. Is that a monster?
Itās a creature Iāve never seen beforeāneither human nor animal.
Itās short like a dwarf, with bumpy green skin, a long tongue, and yellow eyes that mix reptilian traits, making it downright grotesque.
Coincidentally, it reminds me of a goblin.
“Krrk. Krrrk.”
Two goblins. Theyāre pacing around, making strange noises at each other.
Should I strike first?
Beleira said thereās nothing particularly dangerous in this forest, but Iām outnumbered, so jumping into a fight feels risky.
Iāll play it safe, subdue them with hypnosis, and take the experience points.
I step out from behind the rock, and the two goblinsā eyes lock onto me.
“Krrk! Krrk!”
“Hi there.”
I extend my right hand and snap my fingers.
Snap!
“Krrrk!”
What theā? Hypnosis didnāt work.
One of the goblins charges at me with a club. Its movements are slow enough to dodge, but I start to panic.
Hypnosis isnāt workingāthis has never happened before.
Is it because theyāre not human?
“Kaak! Kaak!”
The goblin makes threatening gestures and screeches.
Iāll think later. If it calls for backup, Iāll be in trouble.
I didnāt come to a new world just to end up a cold corpse again.
“Fire Arrow!”
I feel something being drained from inside meāprobably my MP.
A forearm-sized fireball forms in the direction I point my hand.
I expected it to shoot out like lightning, but it lazily billows and shapes itself into an arrow.
“This is way too slow!”
In that time, one goblin is already charging at me.
Screw itāmy fists, honed over 20 years, are better than this! Plus, Iāve got the size advantage.
I grab the goblin and beat the hell out of it.
“Huk! Huuk!”
“Krrk! Krrrk!”
Knee it! Slam it down! Slap its face!
Maybe because itās my first real fight, my breathing gets ragged fast. But it works.
“Even the neighborhood dogs fight better than you!”
One of them is completely down.
Confirming my strength widens my field of view and gives me some confidence.
I kick the other one over and fire the prepared Fire Arrow.
“Oh.”
I wasnāt expecting much, but the Fire Arrow hits the goblin square in the chest, exploding with a bang!
Itās more modest than fireworks, but the goblinās chest is charred blackādefinitely more powerful than my fists.
(Your level has increased.)
(Your stats have increased.)
(Fire Arrow proficiency has increased.)
After defeating the two goblins, I grow a little stronger.
Letās see how much has changed.

Somethingās changed.
Itās not a dramatic difference yet, but I feel like Iām getting the hang of it.
I take a sip of water and keep going.
(Fatigue has been recovered.)
(MP has been recovered.)
Waitāit restores MP too?
A fun idea pops into my head.
I tear through the forest, slaughtering every goblin in sight.
“Fire Arrow!”
Holding the water bottle in one hand, I stretch out my left hand and cast the spell instantly.
As my level and proficiency rise, Fire Arrowās power and casting speed noticeably improve.
“Fire Arrow!”
Proving the Korean blood in my veins, I keep running and killing until I canāt spot anything resembling a monster.
The result:

Fire Arrow (ā ) – The most basic yet practical fire magic. Lingering flames deal additional damage.]
Fire Arrowās casting time is about 3 seconds now.
Its power is enough to take down a goblin in one hit if it lands cleanly.
Goblins donāt scare me anymore.
But Iām worried about whatās ahead.
What if I face enemies stronger and more dangerous than goblins? I donāt have the skill or guts to brawl with monsters hand-to-hand.
My combat ability is strictly average for a Korean adult male.
The only skill Iāve got is magic.
I need to learn more, but the fact that ćHypnosis doesnāt work on monstersć is a serious threat to me right now.
I need to reduce the risks. Iāll head to a village and think it over slowly.
(Fatigue has been recovered.)
(MP has been recovered.)
Sipping from the Goddessās Water Bottle, I keep walking until I spot a maintained road.
I half-hoped for a clichĆ© eventālike saving a damsel in distressābut itās just wishful thinking.
Whoād lose to those goblins in broad daylight, no matter how weak they are?
Even though itās a forest, I asked to be dropped near a village, so it makes sense the monsters here are weak.
Why? Because I rejected any world where the monsters near populated areas are absurdly strong.
In the distance, I see a village.
Compared to cities in my original world, itās laughably small, but itās a charming little place with houses neatly clustered in an open space.
Two guards in iron armor stand at the village entrance. Seeing them holding spears instead of guns is kind of cute.
Of course, getting stabbed by one would hurt as much as a gunshotā¦
These are people of this other world. I need to take this seriously.
I canāt forget this is a world with magic and roaming monsters.
“Stop. Show your identification.”
“I donāt have any.”
“Your name? Are you registered with the Adventurerās Guild?”
“No.”
The guards exchange looks and then speak sternly.
“Suspicious. Follow us. Weāll check if you have a criminal record.”
“Sure.”
I donāt resist and follow the guards obediently.
I could hypnotize them and slip by, but Iām curious to see how this plays out, so I decide to watch.
I walk behind the guards with a relaxed stride.
“Wait in this room.”
“Okay.”
Is this an interrogation room?
From the outside, it looked like a lodge for the guards. Probably because they maintain order, the room is all cold, gray tones.
Thereās hardly anything personal hereājust a hard table, two stiff chairs, a decorative weapon on the wall, and a dusty vase on a side table that hasnāt been watered in ages.
As I wait, unexpectedly, a young woman appears, accompanied by the guards.
