Chapter 23: The Sword Finds a New Master

The Yin-Yang Diagram slowly advanced, and the dozen or so Five Element Barriers in front of Tian Fan quickly crumbled, leaving only a few remaining. However, they too couldn’t withstand the force of the Yin-Yang Diagram. As the last barrier shattered, the Yin-Yang Diagram was about to strike the group.

Sun Yueying quickly took out a jade pendant from her bosom, glanced at it reluctantly, and decisively threw it toward the advancing Yin-Yang Diagram.

Just as the Yin-Yang Diagram was about to collide with Tian Fan, a piece of emerald green jade flew out and struck the diagram. Surprisingly, the light-green jade pendant did not shatter upon impact. Instead, a faint green glow emerged, fiercely resisting the Yin-Yang Diagram.

Sensing the jade pendant’s resistance, the Yin-Yang Diagram suddenly emitted a cold and terrifying aura. Its black and white lights flared wildly, yet it still couldn’t break through the green glow from the jade. In the end, under the pressure of the jade’s light, the Yin-Yang Diagram slowly dissipated.

Crack!

At the same time, a sharp cracking sound came from the green jade pendant, as a fracture appeared on its surface, causing a wave of pain to surge in Sun Yueying’s heart.

“What? That jade pendant actually blocked my Yin-Yang Diagram!”

Yin Shitian, looking at the jade in the sky, was filled with shock as the Yin-Yang Sword reappeared in his hand.

“Junior Sister, that’s the only relic your mother left behind! Hurry and retrieve it!”

Li Yunyang shouted as soon as he recognized the item in the air.

Over the years in the Great Sealing Sect, he had grown very close to Sun Yueying. Their relationship was excellent, and he deeply understood the importance of that jade pendant.

Sun Yueying always kept it close, treasuring it above all else. To her, that pendant was more precious than her own life!

“Think you can take it back? Hmph, it’s just a broken piece of jade. Shatter for me!”

Yin Shitian roared, swinging the Yin-Yang Sword and sending out three sword beams.

“No!”

Sun Yueying was already in tears. This was the only thing her mother had left her. Her mother had long passed away, and whenever she missed her, she would take out the jade pendant to feel as if her mother was still by her side. If the pendant broke, it would hurt her more than death itself! Although she had mentally prepared herself when she threw the pendant to save Tian Fan and Li Yunyang, she still couldn’t help but want to preserve it.

She charged forward, gripping her Violet Purity Sword, but a hand swiftly pulled her back, taking the sword from her grasp.

With the Azure Light Sword in his left hand and the Violet Purity Sword in his right, Tian Fan’s entire body erupted in golden light. His black hair fluttered without wind, and his robes flapped violently. At that moment, he resembled a war god, with golden light so intense it dyed his hair gold. The Azure Light Sword gleamed like the moon, while the Violet Purity Sword blazed like fire. Crossing the two swords in front of him, Tian Fan swung them with all his might toward the incoming attack.

After hearing Li Yunyang’s words, Tian Fan could no longer stay calm. He had never met his mother, never experienced motherly love. Growing up in the cold palace, surrounded by icy stares from everyone, including his father, Tian Fan’s heart had ached endlessly. He had often fantasized about his mother’s face, dreamed of resting in her warm embrace, only to wake up in the morning light, realizing it was all just a fleeting dream.

[That’s the only relic your mother left behind.]

Li Yunyang’s words echoed repeatedly in Tian Fan’s ears.

‘I must save this jade pendant!’ Tian Fan thought to himself.

A silver and a golden sword beam formed a cross, rushing toward the three Yin-Yang Sword beams. At the same time, Tian Fan leaped into the air toward the jade pendant. Shifting the Azure Light Sword to his right hand, he clasped both swords and stretched out his left hand, grabbing the jade pendant.

At that moment, a sword beam also slashed out from the mist. The golden and silver cross swords broke through two of the Yin-Yang Sword beams but dissipated against the third. Seeing the black sword beam speeding toward him, Tian Fan could only raise both swords in front of his chest for a final defense.

Boom!

The black sword beam struck the two swords, and Tian Fan spat out a mouthful of blood as he was flung backward, crashing to the ground. The two swords fell from his right hand, landing not far from him.

“Xiao Fan!”

“Xiao Fan!”

Two voices cried out. Li Yunyang and Sun Yueying rushed over, with Li Yunyang helping Tian Fan to his feet.

“Are you alright, Xiao Fan!?”

Li Yunyang asked with concern.

“I’m fine.”

Tian Fan smiled faintly and opened his clenched left hand, extending it toward Sun Yueying. In his palm, the jade pendant lay quietly. Sun Yueying’s trembling hands took the pendant, pressing it tightly against her chest as her voice choked with emotion:

“Thank you… thank you, Tian Fan.”

Seeing Sun Yueying’s relief, Li Yunyang exhaled deeply. The pendant had been saved, and he no longer had to worry about how to console her. Tian Fan also smiled gently, feeling equally pleased.

“Hmph, you’re lucky to be alive! But your luck ends here!”

Yin Shitian, gripping the Yin-Yang Sword, sneered at Tian Fan with a cold expression.

“At least I’ll live longer than you!”

Before Tian Fan could respond, Li Yunyang coldly retorted.

Yin Shitian glared coldly at him, the Yin-Yang Sword in his hand glowing brightly as he prepared to attack, but two cries of agony suddenly came from behind him.

“Ah!”

“Ah!”

Li Ming and the Lao San screamed as they were thrown back, their bodies covered in bl0od, with an unknown number of b0nes broken.

“Heh heh!”

The eerie laughter of the old zombie echoed. Scattered at its feet were pieces of a shattered golden net. While everyone’s attention was focused on the battle between Yin Shitian and Tian Fan, it had silently been refining the strange golden net within its body. In the end, it forced the net out at the cost of losing part of its soul.

After shaking off the golden net, the zombie casually punched the two unlucky souls in front of it.

“Ke ke, you all fight slowly. I’ll be going now. Expect my return for s1aughter!”

The old zombie screeched and dashed toward the cave entrance. Joking aside, it had no desire to face Tian Fan, whose strength was terrifying, or Yin Shitian, who, with the Yin-Yang Sword, could easily break its Zombie King body.

“Think you can leave after destroying my treasure? Get back here! A servant for a day, a servant for life!”

Seeing the broken golden net on the ground, Yin Shitian coldly spoke, leaping into the air and slashing at the Zombie King with his sword.

Feeling the Yin-Yang energy behind him, the old zombie didn’t dare be careless. It concentrated its bl0od energy into its right fist, punching upward. The two forces clashed in mid-air, causing a massive explosion.

At that same moment, a faint smile appeared on Tian Fan’s lips, like a sly fox whose plan had succeeded. His eyes flashed with divine light, and his mental power shot out silently, directly striking Yin Shitian’s unguarded mind.

“Ah!”

Still in the air, Yin Shitian suddenly let out a blood-curdling scream as the silent attack hit him. His hands clutched his head, and he plummeted to the ground, rolling in agony just like his subordinate earlier. The Yin-Yang Sword slipped from his grasp and flew out.

Tian Fan stepped forward instantly, grabbing the Yin-Yang Sword. His eyes gleamed with golden light, and as it flashed down, the imprint left by Yin Shitian on the sword was completely erased…
