Chapter 29: Conflict from Desire III (part 1)

Bianca del Castana.

The eldest daughter of the marquis of House Castana, considered the most prestigious in the empire, and a rare great mage who would be counted among the top five on the continent in the last 10 years.

She was one of the strongest mages in the world who could use five completely different magics at the same time through the shadowless window, and was able to use magic with firepower equal to that of witches, even for an instant.

In addition, her unique magic, ‘Sigh of White Flame,’ which she created herself, boasted transcendental power that was evaluated as being at the pinnacle of magic that humans could use in terms of destructive power.

And, I was well aware of how strong the magic called ‘Sigh of the White Flame’ was.

It was because, before the regression, I witnessed with my own two eyes how the terrain of the Duchy of Estel melted like ice cream in the scorching sun due to the Sigh of White Flame casted by Bianca. When I thought of that time, the urge to twist her neck sprang up in my heart…regardless of whether I really had the ability to do it or not.

It didn’t end there…

It was said that Bianca, who received the ‘blessing of mana’ from the moment she was born, had her body reconstructed in the most perfect proportions that humans could have. In other words, it was possible for her to maintain a unique perfect appearance all the time without making any effort in life.

If it’s family, she had the best family; if it’s magic, she had the best magic; if it’s appearance, she had the best appearance. She was a woman who lacked nothing and was truly perfect. That could be said to be the public’s evaluation of a woman named ‘Bianca del Castana.’

But then what did I think of her?

Over the years I had known her, I have never had anything other than one kind of sentiment regarding Bianca.

‘She a b!tch!’

There was no need to write a grandiose review. There wasn’t just one or two times during the expedition that she had turned my life upside down. She wasn’t just arrogant; her way of talking with other people was really rude, and she had countless conflicts with other members of the expedition for unknown reasons that she never explained to me.

Looking at her behavior, I nicknamed her ‘Mad Dog’ in my heart. Really, it couldn’t have been a more fitting nickname for her.

Of all Bianca’s many flaws, the one that freaked me out the most was that she loved to bully me.

I don’t know, but I think her perception of me was not even on the same level as the dog she raised at home. Otherwise, how could anyone treat another human being like a dog?

But that didn’t mean I could just go crazy and try to fight her back. How could I attack a terrifying woman who could melt the terrain of the Duchy of Estel like cheese?

Bianca was a woman who planted fear in my heart in a very different way from the Princess.

If there was one thing that comforted me, it was that the Duke of Estel and the Marquis of Castana were not ordinary enemies, but rather adversaries. Since both of them was reluctant to even face each other, even if they were neighbors, meeting Bianca was a long shot.

Before the regression, she was a woman who had nothing to do with me, except for a few unfortunate encounters in childhood. That’s why I concluded that I would never see that face again in this life.

But now, Bianca was taking on the role of the head of the delegation sent by the Marquis of Castana?

As soon as I heard my father’s words, I closed my eyes tightly at the sense of despair that overtook me. It hadn’t been long since I had an unwanted reunion with the Princess at the capital, and it was clear that facing Bianca right after that would put a heavy strain on my heart.

“Can’t you talk to the delegation directly, Father?”

I let out a sigh and informed my father of my refusal. I would have followed his advice in most cases, but sitting face-to-face with Bianca at the same table and talking to her wasn’t really something I wanted to do.

“Why? Could it be related to that Bianca?”

I didn’t know how he found out, but with his sharp eyes, my father figured out the reason for my refusal.

“Yes.”

It wasn’t something that could be hidden anyway, so I obediently confirmed my father’s words.

“Why? Could it be that you hate that child?”

“…I don’t know.”

Actually, I didn’t hate Bianca that much. It didn’t mean that I had a perverse taste for deriving pleasure from being bullied by women. It was simply because I felt there was no point in hating her now. I had regressed 10 years to the past, and everything I was supposed to go through in the future had become nothing. Burning with blind hatred towards people based on some future events that had now vanished would be extremely tiring.

I just wished that I didn’t have anything to do with those terrible women in the future.

Father frowned, seemingly interpreting something from my ambiguous answer.

“Why? Even when you were young, you always liked to play together.”

“…it was just due to some unfortunate chain of events.”

“Unfortunate chain of events?”

Yes. It was unfortunate. Since both of us were high-ranking nobles, there were always one or two events where we had to attend regardless of our will. And so, Bianca and I had to came face to face against each other’s will.

By the way, I would like to state that Bianca had been a girl with a sharp tongue since she was young. I still vividly remembered the words she said to me when I first met her.
