Chapter 34: Main Storyline (part 1)

Seeing that Theresia had been given the armor, Anna began to thump and grumble.

“You said no to the shield I wanted to have!”

“… No, is this the same as that?”

“Can’t you at least give me a present first!? Why does she get to be the first?”

“It seems that you are not attractive enough.”

While Anna and I were arguing, Theresia, now in armor, quickly approached her.

An overbearing atmosphere suddenly dominated the surroundings. Considering that the woman without any armor was equal to Anna, the woman in the armor now was clearly above her.

Whether Anna was aware of that fact or not, I sensed a slight hesitation from her, unlike before, when she had been brimming with confidence.

“I’m sorry for taking away your master’s favor.”

“…Hmph, whatever, I am the first summon.”

“Yes, yes. That’s why I hate you religious fanatics the most.”

Theresia, who had regained the armor she thought she had lost forever, was now immersed in her memories, recalling that time. Lost in thought, she approached me once again and knelt. Her attitude was serious, quite different from her initial appearance.

“I greet you once again. The leader of the Order of the Phoenix Knights of the Kingdom of Erecium. I am Theresia Erhard.”

She raised her head and looked at me.

“I will not ask you why you have the armor of the Order of the Phoenix.”

Theresia stood up slowly.

“Anyway, do you know the slogan of the Knights Templar?”

“… From the ashes.”

“…The phoenix flies.”

She stared at my hair, which was a shade of lighter gray, similar to the color of ash.

“It is no coincidence that a phoenix like me bloomed from the ashes of you.”

It was a total coincidence. The reason I chose her in the first place was simply that her armor came out in a random draw. However, from her point of view, it must have seemed inevitable.

I had her armor. I had pulled her heirloom. To her, it must have felt like we were fated.

“It is the life of an insignificant w0man, but this one life—I will dedicate it to you.”

I looked down at Theresia. I had only given her one piece of armor and one formal dress, yet her eyes were full of loyalty.

There was no function to measure the favorability of summons, but if there were, a notification window would have appeared.

[Theresia’s favorability +100]

With that in mind, I sent the two back to the glyph.

The dining room.

Since the home of the Duke of Eritz housed hundreds of staff, the size of the dining room where meals were served was quite large.

The other cadets were eating there. So I too grabbed my bowl and made my way toward them.

“So you were here?”

“You’re late.”

“Is it?”

I sat down next to Senior Dinua and began eating. The food was even better than what I had expected.

The Academy’s dining area wasn’t bad, but if it were rated 3 Michelin stars, this place would be 4 Michelin stars.

“It’s different.”

“What?”

“When you think of nobility… don’t they usually eat separately from the staff? But here…”

The staff were eating their meals casually in the same space as Stella. It was as if they were used to this situation.

Stella silently ate her soup with a spoon and spoke.

“It’s my father’s way of thinking.”

“The Duke’s?”

“One day, I will have to make all the staff follow me, so he wants me to get acquainted with them in advance.”

As a fake aristocrat and former commoner, I couldn’t fully comprehend it, but since she said it that way, I took it as fact.

What more could I say that would add something to this world? All the smart people had probably already figured it out by themselves.

I just needed to quietly level up my summons and defeat the Demon King.

Things are Not Looking Good:

Yes, things are not looking good. As you know, translation requires a lot of time and energy. I translate, edit and proofread the chapters on my own. I will be honest here, I started translating as a hobby, then it evolved to a hope of earning a living by doing something I enjoy.

However, I suffered a chain of misfortunes during and after the pandemic, and earnings from FSM and RTV helped me a lot. It became a significant part of my life. As long as my monthly income bordered around $200, I could make the time to translate in the middle of other works. Then RTV ended, and the earning decreased. Now, it has decreased to around $90-$100. And with PETTV nearing completion, that would decrease even more. A*dsence gets me about $ 0.50 per day, and you can’t get the payment until it reaches $100, so I can’t depend on that either.

It wouldn’t be an issue in normal circumstances, but it matters a lot to me since I am still dealing with a lot of financial troubles. I am currently looking for a job, and will have to invest my time and energy in it once I get it.

Long story short, if you enjoy reading this novel, support the translation if you can, either by becoming a Patron in Patreon, or sponsoring chapters at BuymeaCoffee. You can also take some time to watch a*ds to increase the revenue on A*dsence. Grains of sand together can form a desert.

FSM supporters has been supporting me from the start no matter what, so I would continue to translate FSM as long as I am alive. But for the other projects, I now desperately need your support so that I can spend the time and energy to serve them to you all. That’s all. Thank you.

  1. Which summon is the religious fanatic? The half angel Paladin or Leader of Phoenix Knights, who called herself Knight Templar. Both titles suggest religious knights. So which one?
MC doesn’t even like to think, does he? When thinking is concerned he surrenders. No wonder he was so bland in his previous life.

    Thanks for chapter
