Chapter 51: Too Many Cooks Spoil the Broth (part 1)

Two summons.

Anna, with angel wings, and Theresia, clad in the armor of the Order of the Phoenix Knights, descended to the ground.

Seeing them, Syrah’s expression hardened. This was not part of her calculations.

“Ian, you are…?”

“Sorry—we’ll talk after I retrieve the artifact.”

Ian returned Syrah’s earlier words with a smirk.

Syrah, mid-bite, looked at Ian with an incredulous expression. However, as he implied, conversation was unnecessary.

“…Eat it.”

Her summon, Violet Mamba, slithered into her arms and dropped to the ground. The small, agile snake had an aura of lethality, as if born solely to kill humans.

“Theresia, can you handle this alone?”

“Of course.”

“Then I’ll leave her to you.”

Entrusting Syrah entirely to Theresia, Ian turned his attention to the dozens of cadets staring at him.

Anna appeared to be at a disadvantage handling them alone—but she wasn’t the only one present.

“Senior Dinua.”

“…Ian, you…”

“Questions later. Well, it’s not so unusual to summon two summons, is it?”

After Ian’s flippant remark, Dinua realized this wasn’t the time for interrogation. She quickly summoned her own summon.

As her creature materialized, dozens of attacks flew toward them.

“Go ahead Dim…”

“Nyaong!”

Dinua’s summon spread its telekinetic power like a protective shield, deflecting the barrage of attacks. While its telekinetic abilities were relatively weak compared to its rank, they were sufficient to block the offensive from 1-star and 2-star summons.

Dinua, holding the line with her summon’s shield, surveyed the field.

“Devouring Darkness!”

Dinua activated her Origin Art, a debuff skill that inflicted a cascade of curses upon all enemies. Though slightly nerfed compared to its legendary origins, the skill remained powerful, casting blindness, nightmares, and a host of debilitating illusions.

“Ahhh!”

“My eyes!”

The afflicted cadets and their summons writhed, caught in the grip of the illusions. While the effects were not physically harmful, they were disorienting enough to incapacitate most opponents.

With the cadets largely neutralized, Ian turned his gaze to Theresia.

“Theresia!”

“Whoo!”

Theresia staggered, her movements faltering under repeated poisoning. Her full-body armor, which left only her head exposed, boasted immense defensive strength, rendering Mamba’s teeth ineffective against it.

Mamba, unable to penetrate the armor, resorted to long-range poison shots. Each hit forced Theresia to stumble further.

‘It’s because of her resistances…’ Ian thought.

Theresia, primarily a melee fighter, lacked resistance to toxins. Even with the additional defense provided by her armor, her weaknesses were being exploited.

“Theresia! You can’t take that thing down?”

“…Don’t worry, Master.”

Despite her master’s frustration, Theresia let out a laugh. The situation wasn’t amusing—Violet Mamba’s toxin was relentless.

‘I can’t lose here,’ she resolved.

Although beast-type summons were often considered inferior to human-type ones, Violet Mamba’s deadly precision was anything but ordinary. The snake’s movements were unnervingly adept, as though it had hunted humans countless times.

‘There’s no need to protect myself,’ Theresia thought.

She gripped her sword tighter. As the commander of the Order of the Phoenix Knights, she feared neither death nor defeat.

“Death means nothing to me.”

Fueled by indomitable will, Theresia lunged at Violet Mamba.

The snake, agile beyond human comprehension, darted away, unleashing another barrage of poison shots.

Chi—!

Some of the poison struck her face, melting the unprotected skin and exposing her skull. Yet, flames ignited around her wound.

“Phoenix’s Blessing.”

Under the divine protection of the legendary phoenix, Theresia stood undeterred.

“Finally got you.”

Her sword arced downward.

Violet Mamba’s tail lashed out, faster than her blade, but Theresia didn’t care. She was immortal.

The blade cleaved through Violet Mamba’s body just as its tail struck her. The blow sent her sprawling, blood spilling from her lips. Still, she used her sword to push herself upright.

Death had not claimed her yet.

Theresia, steadying herself, now shifted her focus to Syrah herself. She climbed onto the Colossus, ready to take the next step.

  1. Author forgot that Dinua WAS in Stella home when MC Phoenix girl appeared during fight with high rank demon. Then again author forgot about it in next chapter after the fight when MC explained only to Stella, and he didn’t explain to both Noah and Dinua. Or translator mixed names in this chapter.

    Thanks for chapter
