Chapter 6: The Common Rule of Love Comedy (part 1)

The incident occurred the next day.

As usual, Amelia and Hyunjin went to the school separately.

Amelia was driven by Ed in a luxury limousine, while Hyunjin, wearing his school uniform, jogged to the school to build his stamina. It felt strange that no unusual events had occurred recently.

It didn’t take long for Hyunjin to grasp the situation he was in.

One of the most common tropes in romantic comedies or dating simulations involving pretty girls was the classic “accidental collision at a corner.”

He never imagined he would experience it firsthand.

“Ahhh!”

“Kyaaak!”

Hyunjin stumbled and fell, his body strangely airborne for a moment. He immediately registered what had happened. The sensation in his hand was unmistakable—a soft, yielding texture that felt oddly like glutinous rice cakes.

His heart sank.

What Hyunjin had accidentally touched were, beyond any doubt, the girl’s br*easts.

“Hey!?!”

“Ah! Ah! Sorry!”

As the girl’s voice echoed through the alley, Hyunjin instinctively clasped his hands together in an apologetic gesture, bowing repeatedly. The reflex was almost spinal, as if his body had acted before his mind.

In that moment, he understood why protagonists in romantic comedies kept blurting out apologies in such situations. In real life, he would have been labeled inappropriate on the spot, or even taken to a police station. But this was a world of lighthearted romantic comedies—where kindness and humor softened every mishap.

Still, he knewshe had to apologize properly. Making that decision, Hyunjin quickly lowered his head and retracted his hand.

When his gaze fell, he froze.

There, sprawled before him, was a girl with her legs slightly spread.

“Hey?!”

The girl hastily pulled the hem of her skirt down and closed her legs, her face flushed with embarrassment. Her watery eyes and slightly trembling lips carried a sense of familiarity that tugged at Hyunjin’s memory.

After a brief moment of shock, recognition dawned on her.

‘Kamiyama Ohana…?’

Hyunjin had resigned himself to the idea that he wouldn’t encounter any heroines in this romantic comedy world after a month of mundane routines. Yet, here one was, right before his eyes.

Short, side-braided pink hair reminiscent of cherry blossoms framed Ohana’s face. Her gentle smile and reserved demeanor matched the archetype of a childhood friend in love stories—a girl who lived next door to the main character, Ryunosuke Natsuki.

Ohana was confident in her cooking, practiced light exercises, and embodied a laid-back personality. She was the type to breeze through life casually, never taking things too seriously.

In short, she was the quintessential romantic comedy childhood friend, her stats averaging well above the norm.

Hyunjin, recalling the details of Ohana’s character, was struck by a lingering thought. Why had he encountered her here, now?

After some reflection, he remembered: Ohana wouldn’t normally leave for the school ahead of Ryunosuke unless she had a special reason.

“Sorry! I really didn’t mean for this to happen!” Hyunjin blurted out, his voice earnest.

The situation was amusing in its absurdity. This was supposed to be a moment for the main protagonist, Ryunosuke. Yet here he was, experiencing the classic “bumping-into-each-other” scene instead.

“Oh no… I-I was in such a rush… I wasn’t looking ahead… I’m so sorry!” Ohana stammered, her tone apologetic and flustered.

Hyunjin extended a hand to help Ohana to her feet. “Were you on your way to the school?”

“Oh, yes,” Ohana replied softly, her face reddening as she touched Hyunjin’s hand.

“I’m sorry. Am I making you late?” Hyunjin asked with concern.

“Oh no! It’s fine, really!” Ohana said hurriedly, waving her hands in dismissal.

“By the way, are you alone today?” Hyunjin inquired.

“Eh?” Ohana looked surprised.

“Usually, you go to the school with Natsuki-kun.”

“Ah… Ahaha… I know, but today I was… um…” Ohana hesitated, scratching her head sheepishly.

Hyunjin offered a reassuring smile. “I remember because we’re in the same class.”

“Oh, uh… right. Um… what was your name again?”

“It’s Kim Hyunjin,” she replied calmly.

“Ah, that’s right! I’m so sorry for forgetting!” Ohana apologized profusely, bowing slightly.

Hyunjin simply nodded, his expression kind.

Despite the awkwardness, the two shared a quiet moment of understanding.
