Chapter 6: The Common Rule of Love Comedy (part 2)

“Let’s go together. I was on my way anyway.”

“Ah, yes. Is that okay?”

“It doesn’t matter to me… Aren’t you late for your morning shift, Kamiyama?”

“Ahahahaha… It’s already too late. Can we go slowly… Ouch!”

As Ohana leisurely started walking while chatting, she collided with Kim Hyunjin and belatedly realized that her ankle was sprained.

Hyunjin noticed her condition and said, “Can you take off your socks?”

“Eh…? Kim-kun, that… That what are you…?”

“…Eh?”

No, what else was she thinking?

Hyunjin tried to suppress his exasperation but quickly regained his composure. It was, after all, a love comedy—a situation prone to misunderstandings.

Come to think of it, didn’t he just accidentally touch Ohana’s ch*est earlier? That was enough to invite further confusion.

“It’s not like that, Kamiyama. Don’t get me wrong!”

Hyunjin hurriedly took out his medical kit from his bag. Inside were bandages, sprays, simple pain relievers, and ointments.

“Oh, the wound…? Huhu, you’re kind, Kim-kun.”

“…What do you mean by that?”

Even as he responded, Hyunjin felt embarrassed. After all, he was tending to the ankle of a female student ten years younger than himself.

“Your ankle is slightly swollen.”

“Hick!”

As Hyunjin gently examined the injury, Ohana trembled in surprise, her body shaking.

“Oh, sorry. It must hurt here.”

Before applying the ointment, Hyunjin carefully cleaned the area, applied a root-based paste to reduce swelling, and then lightly spread the ointment. Afterward, he neatly wrapped the ankle with a bandage.

“Okay, that’s it. Just try to walk carefully now. If it hurts too much, take the painkiller I gave you.”

“Hey, Kim-kun.”

“Yes?”

“Do you… always carry a medical kit?”

“Well, yes. You never know what might happen, so I like to be prepared.”

“That’s… kind of cool, Kim-kun…”

“Huh? Did you say something?”

Hyunjin wasn’t pretending; he genuinely hadn’t heard Ohana clearly. He had been momentarily distracted by the sight of cherry blossom petals fluttering in the pleasant spring breeze.

“That, that… Uh, no! I didn’t say anything!”

“By the way, what about Natsuki-kun?”

“Ah, Ryu-chan… I think he overslept. If I had the time, I’d wake him up so we could go to school together…”

“Since it’s my fault, it can’t be helped. Alright, I’ll help you today—with your duty.”

Hyunjin spoke casually, but Ohana, with a hand covering her mouth, exclaimed, “Eh? Really? Is that okay?”

“Well, it doesn’t matter. I’m used to cleaning now.”

“Thank you so much! Honestly, the person on duty with me came late… I ended up doing it alone.”

How clueless was this girl? Hyunjin couldn’t help but think this as he gently admonished her.

“In that case, you should speak up. Being on duty alone isn’t ideal.”

“I know, but… I’m a little too shy to say anything.”

“Should I come with you and talk to them?”

Those words seemed to act as a trigger. Ohana blushed slightly and waved her hands.

“Ah, ah. No! It’s okay, really! I can handle it!”

Looking at Ohana’s flustered state, Hyunjin felt a pang of sympathy. Being on duty alone must have been hard for her.

He wasn’t particularly interested in Ohana—it was simply empathy. It reminded him of his own school days, filled with moments of trouble and misunderstanding.

If Ohana couldn’t confront her fellow student, then helping her wasn’t a big deal. With that thought in mind, Hyunjin said, “Then, I’ll help you for about a month.”

“Eh? No, Kim-kun! Are you sure? I’d feel so bad…”

“I’m free anyway, so it works out. I usually play sports at school, so helping with cleaning isn’t a big deal.”

“Yes, yes. Are you sure…?”

“Yes. Don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it. It’s a good thing to learn.”

“Yeah, hehe… Thank you, Kim-kun…”

Ohana followed Hyunjin closely, her steps slow and careful.

The sight of Hyunjin’s back seemed particularly cool to her, enhanced by the gentle breeze and the falling cherry blossoms.

Little by little, unfamiliar emotions began to sprout within Ohana’s heart. Like the warmth of a spring day, they slowly grew, touching the girl who already had someone she liked.
