Chapter 60: Dream XI  (part 2)

“Well, it must have been quite a crowd. How can a woman who has never known or received love in her entire life give love to others? In the end, the story of the two would have been no different from one destined for catastrophe from the very beginning.”

As the tale progressed to that point, Iris couldn’t help but feel something strange.

Kyrie had never shown much interest in the personal histories of the other women in the expedition—except for Cain. So, how did she know so much about Bianca?

“Iris, don’t you feel sorry for her? You managed to secure the seat beside him in just one year, but that woman hasn’t fulfilled her wish for a single moment in 30 years. As a person and as a woman, she has not had a single day of happiness.”

“…So, what’s your point? Kyrie, what exactly do you want to tell me?”

At Iris’s words, Kyrie smiled, her face lighting up.

“What I want to say is simple. Bianca del Castana—wouldn’t it be fair for her to experience happiness, even just once? Shouldn’t she be allowed to taste the happiness you’ve enjoyed by lending Cain to her? After all, isn’t competition the sweetest when it’s fair?”

“…Her.”

In the end, Iris’s expression twisted in response to Kyrie’s absurd conclusion.

“…Cain is not your property…”

And then, at that moment—

“…Shhh.”

Kyrie raised her slender index finger and gently pressed it against Iris’s lips.

“Iris, could you please be quiet? If you don’t understand something, it doesn’t look dignified to act so brashly. Why don’t you realize that, without the dignity of an imperial princess, you are no better than a savage monkey?”

A sharp glint flashed in Kyrie’s eyes as she spoke those words to Iris. From her current demeanor, an unsettling sense of intimidation filled the air.

“Iris, you said Cain is not an object, much less that he belongs to me. Certainly, that isn’t wrong. But that doesn’t mean it’s entirely right either. Cain may not be a possession, but he is mine in truth.”

“Because Cain and I share everything—even, even our lifespan.”

“…What?”

The moment those words left Kyrie’s mouth, Iris was rendered speechless.

Cain and Kyrie shared a lifespan?

As far as she knew, there was only one case where an elf, who chose a companion once in her life, would share her lifespan with another. That could only mean—

“Exactly. It means you and Aria weren’t the only ones who shared a history with Cain, nor were you the only ones to experience love with him. Now, will you accept my right to claim Cain?”

Iris just stared, speechless, at Kyrie, who stifled her laughter with a hand, her face alight with amusement.

Disbelief filled Iris’s expression.

“…Kyrie, not you too…”

“Well, it’s just how it is. I’m not one to delve into details; I don’t have a twisted interest in sharing intimate affairs recklessly with ‘others.’ Can you understand that much, Iris?”

“…..”

“Ah, so, in that sense, that was my story. Cain, who shares my lifespan, will live an unfathomably long life beyond what any ordinary human could dream. Of course, Cain will die someday, but I can assure you that even as you age, he will remain.”

“Perhaps he will still be young even as you grow old,” Kyrie added almost dismissively.

“From now on, the time he and I share will be boundless. It will be a long life, the likes of which no ordinary human could begin to comprehend. So, I have no intention of monopolizing Cain’s life.”

“Because, no matter how delicious a meal, don’t you grow tired of eating the same food? Sometimes, you need a little snack to keep your appetite alive.”

Step by step, Kyrie approached Iris, her mad smile widening.

Reflexively, Iris took a step back.

“Do you understand now? I don’t mind if Cain is with other women, nor do I mind if he shares love with them. Because, ultimately, I am his first and last. Even if he spends time with others, it will never come close to the time he has with me. At best, other women are just fleeting encounters.”

“Of course, that doesn’t mean I’ll accept it so easily. I may not be thrilled by the idea, but I believe that if it’s the three of you, I can tolerate it. After all, I am a woman of understanding.”

“Understanding?”

Already declaring herself as Cain’s wife, Kyrie showed no hesitation in relegating the other women to mere concubines, prompting Iris to laugh aloud.

With that, Iris was certain—Kyrie’s mind was completely unhinged.

“…Insane. You’re utterly mad, Kyrie. You’ve lost your mind.”

At Iris’s words, Kyrie beamed and replied brightly.

“Couldn’t you say I’m simply a devoted woman who lives and dies for love?”

Patreon Tiers Just Got More Affordable: From now on, FSM Level 2 will become the CN WN Bundle. The price will remain the same which is $10. Also, the price for the KR WN Bundle will also be decreased to $10 to match this bundle.

With this I have gotten rid of the level system. The reason I am doing this, is because I plan to add more chapters to the $5 Patron tiers. Currently the readers get 2 advance chapters when they become a $5 Patron, but I want to increase the chapters they get to at least 5 chapters and more. I will be adding more chapters to the other individual tiers during the next few days. So the current updated tier system will work like this:

The Individual Tiers ($5) will give you access to 5 chapters or more.

The Bundle Tiers ($10) will give you access to all the chapters of CN or KR webnovels.

The Supreme Patron ($30) will give you access to all the webnovel chapters on Goblinslate.
