Chapter 64: Text (part 2)

When Ian saw her, he thought the maid was devoted to serving her master with all her heart, but Syrah had a different opinion.

As Ian tilted her head in confusion, the maid, who had returned not long after, showed clear reluctance.

“Sorry, the lady said she doesn’t want to meet anyone…”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“Who did you say came?”

At those words, the maid fell silent. Naturally, she had never asked for the names of the visitors. Without knowing their names, it was impossible to say who had come, wasn’t it?

The maid had never seen them before this and she obviously didn’t know who the visitors were, yet she claimed that she had informed her masters about their arrival.

“Aren’t you her friends?”

“Is that so?”

“Then who…?”

“Why are you hesitating? Who did you tell her it was?”

Syrah didn’t miss the hesitation and pushed forward stubbornly. Though it was invisible, the maid’s nervousness was evident.

After a long silence, the maid carefully lowered her voice and spoke.

“I’m sorry, but she’s not in a situation to meet anyone right now.”

“And why do you get to decide that?”

Even as a maid serving a marquise, the way she spoke at that moment irritated Syrah.

Perhaps sensing the shift in tone, the maid’s voice grew smaller and more uncertain.

And, Syrah wasn’t someone to let it go.

“That’s strange, maid. Are you a demon spy?”

“W-What!? Of course not!”

“Then why are we still talking? Open the door.”

“Please wait a moment!”

“Open it now. Or should I force it open?”

At those words, Syrah could tell the maid was hurriedly preparing something. Without delay, she summoned her creature.

No matter how sturdy the dormitory door was, it wasn’t strong enough to withstand an attack from a 3-star summon.

As soon as the Violet Mamba was summoned, it immediately understood its master’s intentions and slammed into the doorknob.

The latch shattered, rendering the lock useless. Syrah pushed open the now-unlocked door and stepped inside.

“Excuse me~!”

The moment she entered, she took in the sight of a messy, cluttered room and a maid frantically changing into her uniform.

Syrah sighed, glaring at her as if she had just grasped the situation.

“Oh-ho, so that’s what’s going on?”

“…What? What do you mean?”

“I’ll explain in a moment. Is Senior Dinua inside?”

“Senior Dinua—!”

Syrah called loudly enough for her voice to echo through the dormitory. Ignoring the trembling maid, who was still fumbling with her clothes, she strode toward the innermost room.

As expected, upon hearing Syrah’s voice, Dinua slightly opened her door and peeked out.

“Who…? Ian?”

“Senior.”

“Hey, what’s going on all of a sudden…?”

“We came to visit since you were put on suspension.”

Saying this, Ian showed the items in her hands.

Dinua’s eyes sparkled as if she wanted to greet Ian properly, but when she realized her current state, she hesitated and spoke cautiously.

“Um… Could you give me a moment? I really need just a little time…”

“Need time? What do you—”

“Yep! Senior, Ian and I will step outside. Just freshen up and come out when you’re ready!”

Before Ian could barge in uninvited, Syrah quickly pulled him out of the dormitory.

Once outside, she tapped Ian on the shoulder, pointing out the mistake he had made.

“A woman needs time to prepare. You’re a man, and you don’t even know that?”

“…I don’t know because I’m a man.”

As Ian protested, feeling wronged, Syrah recalled something she had been curious about earlier.

She had realized the maid was acting suspiciously, but she wondered how Ian, being as smart as he was, hadn’t picked up on it at all.

“Are you this dense just because you’re a man?” (G: No, it’s because the plot demands it.)

“What? Dense about what?”

“Didn’t you notice that Senior Dinua was being neglected by the maid?”

“She was being neglected?” Ian’s eyes widened in surprise.

Seeing his reaction, Syrah tilted her head as if she couldn’t believe Ian hadn’t noticed.

“No way, you didn’t pick up on it when you looked around her room earlier?”

“I just thought Senior Dinua threw a tantrum after getting suspended…”

“…Do you even have a maid at home?”

As a noble, he should have been able to notice something like this—or so Syrah thought.

But in fact, Ian wasn’t a noble, so it wasn’t surprising that he had missed such subtle details.

As the two continued their conversation, Dinua, now dressed at remarkable speed, peeked out from inside.

“Ian? I’m ready.”

“Ah, good… Um… huh?”

Ian looked at Dinua’s outfit and immediately clamped his mouth shut.

No matter how comfortable she was in her own home…

‘That lingerie is a bit…bold. Isn’t it, Senior?’

  1. Lol even Goblin the translator is feed up with how much dense MC is. Funny that other characters think that MC is smart and clever, really? MC is only smart that way because author says so and makes other character say or think that MC is smart, MC actions and thoughts says otherwise. Last few chapter MC has became almost decent especially when he, after the fact, agreed with the teacher that he acted stupid along with Syrah.

    Thanks for chapter

    1. Thanks for reading. Well, the dense MC trope is actually something that the writers use to move their story forward without breaking the flow. Without it, most stories (pointing to JP novels) would not even go beyond 10 chapters. I picked this up bcos, even the author pokes fun at this fact. He knows that it’s cliche, and uses it in an sarcastic manner. Unlike many other authors who depend on it to a religious level.
