Chapter 70: Bianca del Castana VII (part 1)

Zzz-khrrrr-trrrng!

Chrrrrr-ng!

The open meadow in front of the cabin where Young Lord Cain and Bianca stayed was a picturesque space, boasting its own charm with beautiful flower beds and sage plants scattered throughout.

However, due to Aria and Bianca’s clash, the meadow was utterly destroyed, losing its former beauty.

If one had to describe the space they now stood in with a single word, “living hell” would be most fitting.

All across the battlefield, thunder and lightning raged relentlessly.

The aftermath of their fierce battle shattered the ground and set the terrain ablaze. The very surface beneath them melted, transformed into a molten, unwalkable mire from exposure to lightning-wreathed plasma and ultra-high-heat white flames.

The once lush green meadow had been turned into a desolate, charred wasteland.

Amidst this hellish scene, a streak of golden light cut through the sky like a blazing comet. Encased in golden thunderbolts, it raced forward, a sight akin to a meteor piercing the heavens.

“Aaargh!”

With thunderbolts and plasma enveloping her, Aria roamed the battlefield at near-supersonic speed. Her movements were so fast that the human eye couldn’t follow her.

Even Bianca, with her magically enhanced vision, could only trace Aria’s location by the afterglow left in her wake.

“For someone claiming to be a mage, you’re acting like a brute!” Bianca snapped, her voice filled with irritation. Despite casting countless spells, she hadn’t managed to so much as graze Aria.

Bianca hovered in the air, encased in a fortress of magical barriers layered over her body.

A pinnacle among modern mages, Bianca del Castana wielded magic far superior to that of ordinary practitioners. The magic she employed was not only a level above but also significantly more efficient.

Her current defense, the “Multiple Magical Barrier,” was no exception. While the spell was a standard technique among combat mages, its effectiveness varied greatly depending on one’s mana reserves.

Bianca, however, refined the technique by creating interconnected layers that efficiently circulated magic between them, rather than merely stacking barriers haphazardly.

Currently, sixteen layers of barriers shielded her. Even ten years in the future, when the Witch of Winter herself would rise to power, it was said to be impossible to break Bianca’s barriers in a single strike.

This left Aria with seemingly no way to harm her opponent.

But Aria’s approach differed entirely. Instead of flinging offensive spells, she wrapped herself in plasma, turning her body into a living weapon. At this point, her magic-infused form possessed destructive power comparable to high-level spells.

Like an arrow in flight, Aria darted through the battlefield, striking at Bianca’s blind spots.

Zzz-khrrrr-trrr-woong!

“Keugh…!”

Another barrier shattered under Aria’s surprise assault. Although Bianca could restore it quickly, each repair consumed a significant amount of mana. Moreover, the constant threat of blind-side attacks disrupted her concentration.

One strike after another chipped away at Bianca’s barriers and drained her spiritual power.

Aria’s strategy—a calculated method devised to counter Bianca’s overwhelming magical strength and mana reserves—was proving highly effective.

“…Indeed, even in decline, you wield a skill that honors the title of the Witch of Winter,” Bianca admitted grudgingly.

She had no choice but to acknowledge Aria’s strength. Though a mere shadow of her future self, wielding less than 20% of the Witch of Winter’s full power, Aria’s current might was undeniable.

“…..”

Aria, focused entirely on defeating Bianca del Castana, offered no response. Her every thought was consumed by the battle.

“Hmph. To ignore a compliment so completely—how savage and rude,” Bianca remarked, her gaze narrowing as she analyzed Aria’s tactics.

‘…This strategy feels strangely familiar,’ Bianca thought.

Aria’s current approach was entirely unlike the Witch of Winter’s methods a decade in the future.

During her legendary battles against the Expedition, the Witch of Winter had fought much like Bianca—fortified by magical barriers and bombarding her enemies with high-powered spells.

Yet here was Aria, a storm incarnate, tearing across the battlefield like living lightning.
