Chapter 74: Bianca del Castana XI (part 2)

“…Why.”

‘Why couldn’t I reach you? My flame, my thunderbolt, my frost, my flash—why don’t they touch you? And why aren’t you falling?’

“D’mn you, why?”

Fear began to creep into her, a fear of whatever force allowed him to move like that.

His face remained serious, his unwavering eyes fixed on her. Even though his entire body was torn, burned, and battered, he never stopped advancing toward her.

“…Please give up. That’s it. Please stop. Stop it, Cain!”

Without even recognizing her own voice, Bianca finally used the strongest attack she could muster.

The Sigh of White Flame—the most powerful, unique magic Bianca del Castana could wield.

Though her remaining magic power was less than 10% of what it once was, the sigh of the white flame, fired by drawing on every bit of her reserves, still had the strength to shatter him with ease.

“…Are you finally coming?”

Cain muttered softly, gripping his sword tightly as he shot forward without hesitation toward the approaching white sun.

‘Ugh—’

The flow of life energy concentrated on the blade. Refined to its utmost limits, the technique he sought to unleash, rooted in the power of a blue aura rivaling that of an aura blade, was “Crescent Moon.”

It was the strongest technique he had devised after countless struggles against Lucian von Tournigen.

“Let’s go.”

Cain’s eyes locked directly with Bianca’s, which were brimming with guilt and anger.

‘…Sorry.’

He had a sense of her feelings for him, even back then. Perhaps he even suspected that she might love him.

But he didn’t want to hurt her. He thought that they were not meant to be. That even if they fell in love, the obstacles between them would be insurmountable.

So, he pretended not to know. He acted oblivious. Desperately, he lied to himself. He told himself it was the best path for her.

‘But I was wrong…’

His foolishness hurt them both. He was wounded, and somewhere deep inside, so was she.

‘I was a fool. I should have been honest. Even if it meant hurting you, I should have shared my feelings clearly. Instead, I left you alone for so long and allowed you to fall apart.’

‘I held you. I made love to you. But it wasn’t pity—it was love. As your devoted healer, I embraced you.’

The forty days they spent together weren’t bad. Although it began with force and without his full intentions, looking back now, it feels like a cherished memory.

She loved him, and he accepted her love.

‘In the end, I loved you.’

But it wasn’t enough.

Compared to the unbearably long nights she had spent alone, their last night together was far too brief. And so, even now, he was trying to make it right.

‘It’s late, but at this moment, I will cast off everything that holds me back to focus solely on you. I want to love you completely.’

Aaang!

The Crescent Moon unleashed by Cain sliced through Bianca’s Sigh of White Flame, splitting it in two.

A mere mortal sword had severed the sun itself!

Seeing it with her own eyes, Bianca couldn’t believe it. She stopped breathing for a moment.

Only then did she realize what was inside Cain’s sword. It wasn’t hatred, malice, or anger. It was compassion, solace, and love—only love, directed entirely toward her. At this moment, his entire heart was hers.

Meeting his steady gaze, she understood everything. That blow, which Cain had launched with his very life, was meant only for her. It wasn’t an attack—it was an offering of love. The realization filled her with euphoria.

“…Ah.”

Tears welled up in her eyes. At that moment, he was looking only at her, forgetting all else. That alone made her heart swell with joy.

His sword, having cut through the Sigh of White Flame, drew closer. Its target appeared to be her heart. But she didn’t evade it—no, she couldn’t. This was the culmination of thirty long years, the moment her love was finally reciprocated. How could she avoid his blade?

“…Cain.”

Unknowingly, she closed her eyes tightly, bracing herself for death.

She imagined the end. But she couldn’t resist it. She had wronged him too deeply. As Aria once said, she was a wicked woman. Punishment was something she deserved.

Even so, if everything ended here, it wouldn’t be such a bad conclusion. In her final moments, she had felt loved and realized her desperate love for him.

Suddenly, a childhood promise they had once shared came to mind—a promise to stay together when they grew up. Had he kept that promise, or had he broken it?

“…Ah.”

But the sword didn’t pierce her. Just before it touched her body, it halted.

Tringgg!

A moment later, he dropped his sword to the ground as if discarding a piece of trash.

“…Why?” she asked.

She had hurt him, done terrible things to him, so why hadn’t he struck her down?

“…I told you from the beginning. I just wanted to stop you. I never intended to fight you seriously in the first place.”

And above all…

“I didn’t just hold you—I loved you. You are my woman, the one I’ll cherish and take responsibility for, for the rest of my life.”

With those words, Cain gently embraced her, as if cradling a precious treasure.

“…I’m sorry, Bianca. I didn’t realize your pain. And thank you—for loving me all this time.”

Hearing his words, warm tears streamed down her cheeks. It felt as though a burden in her heart had been lifted, as if she had been saved. That warmth told her she had a place in this world, that she was loved.

“…I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Cain…”

As Bianca wept, Cain softly wiped her tears away.

“It’s okay. Don’t cry, Bianca.”

His awkward attempt at comfort warmed her heart.

Just hearing his words made her realize the depth of his love for her.

She closed her eyes, surrendering herself to his embrace.
