Chapter 121: Beginning Military Training

Everything about my entry into university had been arranged by Qin Shousheng, so my military training uniform had already been prepared in advance.

The training was held on campus, not at some so-called military base. With Shenghua’s financial resources, it had its own training facility.

After putting on our uniforms, the four of us gathered under the guidance of a senior from the third year and headed to the training ground together.

“I heard that the instructors this time are elite soldiers from the military. Do you think we’re in for a tough time?” Lu Sen asked worriedly.

I shook my head dismissively and said, “It’s just military training. What’s there to be scared of?”

To be honest, military training didn’t put any pressure on me. After all, my body wasn’t something ordinary people could compare to.

Hao Shuai chimed in, “Shenghua’s military training is known to be strict every year. Most students here are from wealthy families, and they signed contracts to agree to this before enrolling.”

Diao Sinan followed behind us silently, looking visibly nervous.

“Attention! Stand straight!” Suddenly, a loud voice interrupted our conversation.

Looking up, I saw six men with V-shaped torsos and bronzed skin, each exuding an air of toughness. They were definitely military veterans.

“I am Liu Dong, the chief instructor for this military training. Behind me are the assistant instructors. I hope everyone will follow the rules, so you don’t embarrass yourselves—or me!” His sharp gaze swept over the crowd, silencing us completely.

“First horizontal row, step forward!” Liu Dong commanded again.

The students in the first and second rows quickly stepped forward.

Liu Dong nodded. “Your instructor is Coach Li. Follow him to carry out your training tasks!”

Tasks? Seriously? It’s just military training—why make it sound so dramatic?

After the first few rows were assigned, our row was the last one remaining.

Lu Sen, looking resigned, said, “Looks like we’re stuck with Liu Dong!”

No sooner had he spoken than Liu Dong turned to us and said, “You’ll be under my training. Ten per row, men and women separated. Stand properly!”

The freshmen scrambled to get into formation. Due to my height, I stood at the very back.

“Attention!” Liu Dong ordered again after the lineup was ready, then turned and walked away.

“What the heck! He scared the hell out of me!” Lu Sen turned to me. “Boss, why did he leave?”

“How should I know?” I retorted irritably.

Lu Sen scratched his head and nudged Hao Shuai. “Third Brother, do you have any idea what’s going on?”

Hao Shuai smiled helplessly. “It’s my first time doing this too. How would I know?”

“Hey! Stop talking. The coach is coming back!” I quickly warned Lu Sen as Liu Dong approached us again.

Lu Sen immediately stood at attention, not daring to say a word.

This time, Liu Dong was holding something in his hand.

“For the first day of training, we’ll practice standing at attention for one hour. No one is allowed to request leave during this time!” Liu Dong declared, waving the short baton in his hand for emphasis.

Given Shenghua’s backing by the four great families, even the wealthiest students didn’t dare protest, no matter how uncomfortable they felt.

For me, standing at attention was effortless—just a bit boring.

The sun was glaringly bright, and many students were sweating profusely, but they didn’t dare move, fearing that wiping away sweat might invite the wrath of Liu Dong’s baton.

After about ten minutes, a boy couldn’t resist and quickly wiped his sweat while Liu Dong wasn’t looking. To his luck, he wasn’t caught.

Seeing this, others followed suit, sneaking in quick wipes whenever Liu Dong walked toward the girls’ section.

“Feeling hot?” Liu Dong’s voice suddenly rang out as he stood before a freshman who was wiping his sweat.

Without looking up, the boy replied, “Well, standing under the sun on such a hot day—how could it not be hot?”

Realizing who was in front of him, the boy froze in fear. However, Liu Dong’s smile seemed to put him at ease. “Coach, I was just joking!”

“Joking?” Liu Dong’s expression turned stern as he suddenly struck the boy’s leg with the baton.

The boy cried out in pain but didn’t dare protest. Gritting his teeth, he resumed standing at attention.

The training ground fell silent. Liu Dong’s sudden move had intimidated everyone into submission.

“Coach! Coach!” A voice called out from the girls’ side. Liu Dong frowned and walked over.

Taking a quick glance, I saw a girl had fainted. The sweltering heat was too much for her frail body.

“What happened?” Liu Dong asked, looking at the pale-faced girl.

Another girl, apparently her friend, explained nervously, “Coach, she’s not in good health, and the heat…”

“I didn’t ask you!” Liu Dong snapped.

The pale girl tried to speak weakly, “Coach, I’m fine. It’s just…”

Before she could finish, Liu Dong cut her off. “If you’re fine, keep standing! Or do you need someone to hold you up just to walk?”

The girl’s eyes brimmed with tears, but she didn’t argue. She stood again, though her unsteady steps made it clear she wouldn’t last much longer.

Sure enough, she stumbled moments later, and her friend caught her just in time.

“Coach, my friend can’t go on anymore. Please let her go to the infirmary!” her friend pleaded.

“Hmph! If she can’t endure this, how can she contribute to society in the future?” Liu Dong scoffed, ignoring the request.

“I… I’m fine…” The fainting girl struggled to stand, but after two steps, she collapsed completely.

“Coach!” Her friend looked at Liu Dong in panic.

“Even if she’s unconscious, she must stick it out until the end!” Liu Dong retorted coldly.

“You’re heartless! She’s already fainted, and you still want her to stay here? Do you want her to die?” A cold voice rang out from the girls’ formation.

Turning toward the voice, I was momentarily stunned.

Even in military attire, the girl’s beauty was striking. With a touch of refinement rivaling Mei’er’s, she exuded a chilly, ice-cold aura—a true ice queen.

“She’s right, Coach! Please send her to the infirmary!” another girl beside the ice queen chimed in.

Wow! Another beauty? Is Shenghua filled with gorgeous women?

They had a point, though. The fainting girl clearly needed immediate medical attention. Military training was about building resilience, not pushing someone with a medical condition to their limits.

“Everyone, shut up!” Liu Dong roared as the crowd began to stir, silencing everyone again.

The ice queen, however, ignored him and said coldly, “Hmph! Heartless!”

She stepped out of the formation, followed closely by her companion. Together, they helped the fainted girl and began walking toward the exit.

“Stop!” Liu Dong barked, his face twisting in anger.

But the two women didn’t even look back.

Enraged, Liu Dong grabbed his baton and rushed toward the ice queen, swinging it at her arm.

“Coach, there’s no need to pick a fight with young girls, is there?” I asked with a smile, catching the baton in my hand.

I had sensed trouble the moment the two women stepped out, so I rushed over just in time.

Sigh… What can I say? Someone as kind-hearted as me just couldn’t resist playing the hero.
