Ian and Dinua headed to the womenâs dormitory in the restricted area. It was a place where a man alone could not even set foot, but with female cadets accompanying him, it seemed acceptable.
For a long time now, Ian had been famous for his frequent visits to the women’s dormitory, so they didn’t really face any objections.
Ian and Dinua soon arrived at Stellaâs dormitory.
After knocking on the door, the maid inside, busy with chores, appeared.
â⌠Master Ian? And⌠Lady Erebus? What brings the two of you here?â
âIâll just go in for a moment.â
âWait, you canât come inâ!â
Ian recklessly pushed past the maid and stepped inside. The maid tried to stop him but couldnât prevent him from polluting the dormitory floor with his muddy shoes.
After some commotion, Stella, who had been resting inside, appeared.
â⌠Ian? Whatâs going on all of a suddenââ
âStella.â
Seeing Ian smiling softly, Stella felt an inexplicable chill.
Dinua, who had accompanied him, was trembling and muttering something.
Although Ian had expressed a liking for Stella, barging into the dormitory like this was far from polite.
Stella pointed this out angrily.
âWhat are you doing? Get out now.â
âWhat does it matter between us?â
â⌠Between us? What kind of relationship do we even have?â
âUm⌠something like that?â
Hearing Ianâs flippant tone and seeing his unusual demeanor, Stella frowned. Her gaze traveled to his muddy shoes, and she suddenly realized something was off. Ian had an odd habit of not wearing shoes even in his own room. Yet now, he had entered her dormitory wearing muddy footwear?
âYouâŚyou are not Ian.â
ââWhat do you mean?â
âIfrit. Apply pressure.â
âOuch, no!â
When Stella summoned Ifrit, Ian retaliated by summoning his own summon. Upon seeing Ianâs summoned creature, Stella tilted her head in confusion.
â⌠A third summon?â
The Anna she knew was nowhere to be seen. Instead, a witch with a cone hat appeared. Stella was convinced this wasnât the Ian she knew. But then Theresia appeared, momentarily distracting her.
âSenior.â
âYes!â
At Ianâs signal, Dinua rushed forward with an obsidian dagger. Salamander and Ifrit reacted quickly, trying to stop her, but Ianâs summon blocked their attack.
â-!!â
Stella backed away slightly, staring at Dinua, who was charging at her. Though she had trained for assassination scenarios, this was the first time she had to put it into practice.
Her summons couldnât help her. This was now a one-on-one fight with Dinua, who wielded a sharp dagger that radiated fear.
âOh noâŚ!â
Fear slowed her judgment. The dagger closed the distance, leaving her no room to evade. Stella braced herself for the pain, tightly closing her eyes.
But the pain never came. Slowly, she opened her eyes and found Ian standing in front of her, shielding her from the blade. Dinua held onto Ian, pressing the dagger into him.
Stella stared in disbelief before letting out a laugh of sheer absurdity.
â⌠What?â
Even an insurance scammer wouldnât have acted so clumsily.
***
When Ian opened his eyes, a white ceiling greeted himâa ceiling he had never seen before.
â⌠Where am I?â
As he tried to move, he felt something heavy pressing against him. Puzzled, he looked down to see Noah sleeping soundly on his stomach.
â⌠Noah?â
As Ian shifted, Noah stirred, rubbing her eyes as she woke. Yawning calmly, she stretched and greeted him.
âUghâ! Did you sleep well, Ian?â
âSleep? Where am I?â
âIn the infirmary.â
Her response jogged his memory. He recalled being struck by some magic triggered by a scroll Dinua had torn. He had been trapped in a mental world, fighting a monster to escape. The last thing he remembered was blocking Dinuaâs dagger aimed at Stella with his own body.
âAnd then I passed out⌠Pathetic.â
For a man to faint just from a knife woundâhow embarrassing. Ian thought a true man should smile and brush it off, even if he lost a limb.
When he sat up, Noah left the room to call the nurse. Ian felt a pang of sadness as she cheerfully walked out without showing much concern.
âNo, shouldnât she at least care for me since I just woke up?â
However, as he moved, he realized his body didnât hurt at all. It was odd. Even a paper cut hurt when you moved your finger, yet he felt fine after being stabbed with a long, sharp dagger.
Taking off his shirt, he inspected his abdomen.
â⌠Whereâs the wound?â
His stomach was as smooth as a newbornâs, with no trace of injury.
As Ian was marveling at his miraculously healed body, Noah returned with the nurse.
The nurse saw Ian inspecting his stomach and spoke.
âI treated you with my abilities, so youâll be fine. But⌠if youâd like, I can let you rest a bit longer. Do you want to stay here?â
âIâll rest,â Ian replied.
Perhaps out of consideration for him, the nurse explained that Ian could attend classes if he felt ready.
