Chapter 1: The Deceased Streamer

“Welcome to the Midnight Spirit Exploration Live. I am the streamer ‘Zuo Si.’”

Inside an abandoned hospital, a young man held a selfie stick in his right hand, while his left hand carried a flashlight, conducting tonight’s live broadcast.

At the start of the stream, the viewer count was very bleak, only a little over a hundred; after factoring in multipliers, probably just a dozen or so people watching.

But this didn’t dampen his enthusiasm for streaming at all.

Because this hospital had just claimed a life… and it was also a spirit exploration streamer!

As long as the content was good, he wouldn’t worry about today’s popularity!

“Damn, I followed this streamer just because of his name! His name’s ‘Daredevil,’ and he still dares to do spirit exploration live! Talent, this is definitely a talent!”

System: Brother Tai rewarded a wolf fang.

“Thanks, Brother Tai! Thanks, Brother Tai!” Seeing someone send a gift, Zuo Si was delighted.

Tonight’s luck was really good—just started streaming and already received a gift. Although the gift worth fifty yuan only netted about twenty, at least it could buy him a meal.

“Boss is so clueless! This broken streamer just casually finds some dilapidated building to fake it every time. Don’t get duped by him!”

Seeing this barrage, Zuo Si immediately grew displeased, thinking to himself, ‘Your mother, coming here to freeload every night is one thing, but now you’re insulting the boss’s judgment?’

What if the boss runs away? Such people really deserve a kick!

Though annoyed inside, he dared not say it out loud.

Zuo Si smiled mysteriously, slowly turning the selfie stick around.

“Dear viewers, rest assured, this live will definitely satisfy you. Don’t you think… this place looks a bit familiar?”

The lights were dim, dust covered everything around, and many abandoned medical instruments were haphazardly tossed aside, giving a strong sense of age.

Zuo Si carefully recorded with his camera, not revealing where he was exactly now.

Letting these viewers figure out the mystery themselves—that’s the real fun.

Not long ago, a spirit exploration streamer had died here under mysterious circumstances. The police hadn’t disclosed the exact cause of death, but many people knew about it, sparking curiosity. The internet was full of various stories and versions.

But all these stories had one thing in common…

That the streamer really saw a ghost!…

“Wow, this might be You Ren Hospital!”

Someone quickly recognized the environment.

“Oh my god, it really is! I’ve looked at this terrain countless times, it’s definitely this place, no doubt!”

“The streamer is really brave, daring to come to such a place in the middle of the night… especially a place where someone just died! I salute you, Brother Tai!”

System: Brother Tai rewarded two wolf fangs.

“Damn, boss, I was wrong just now, you’re wise!”

……

Looking at the barrage, Zuo Si was happy.

As expected, high risk brings high reward.

Previously, he went to some ordinary dilapidated buildings, and no one paid him any attention, earning hardly any gifts all night.

But today, after just ten minutes of streaming, he received a gift worth 150 yuan.

Maybe it was just good luck tonight, with a boss supporting him.

But it’s definitely a gamble worth taking!

“Thanks, Brother Tai, for the wolf fangs. Let’s cut to the chase.”

Zuo Si suddenly switched to the front camera, the bright phone light illuminating his face, looking a bit eerie.

He asked, “Does anyone know where ‘Ding Daxia’ died?”

Ding Daxia was the streamer involved in the incident, who died a week ago. Although the police tried to block the news, since it happened during a live broadcast, smart viewers all knew who the deceased streamer was.

“Damn it, you scared the hell out of me! Can’t you say something when you switch cameras?!”

“Streamer, if you look so ugly, don’t come out to scare people. It’s late at night, someone might get hurt!”

“I’ll drop a wolf fang, and tonight, no more face time!”

The barrage was filled with curses. Helpless, Zuo Si switched to the rear camera, unconsciously touching his face.

He thought to himself, ‘I’m pretty handsome, you know.’

System: Changshan Zhao Zilong rewarded a wolf fang.

“Thanks, Brother Zilong, for the wolf fang. Hey~ Brother Zilong, do you know where Ding Daxia died?”

Zuo Si tried to flatter him, knowing he had to find a way to keep every boss on his side to increase his income.

“Go upstairs! First, to the second floor!”

The barrage flew up, repeating the same message over and over.

Zuo Si looked at the viewer count—already over a thousand!

Various small gifts were also being sent from time to time.

It seemed that if he wanted to make money, he had to come to places with hype!

He slowly walked forward with his flashlight.

This hospital had been abandoned for a long time, with three floors, built in the last century. Maybe because it was in a remote area, it had never been demolished.

As for Ding Daxia’s death location, Zuo Si had heard it was in a surgical room on the second floor, but he wasn’t sure of the details.

The air around was cold and damp. The hospital was surrounded by tall trees, making it hard for moonlight to penetrate, and the further inside he went, the worse the lighting became.

The atmosphere was terrifying.

Fortunately, the flashlight and the barrage gave Zuo Si a bit of reassurance.

He looked around with his flashlight, searching for windows, as he was unfamiliar with the layout.

After a while, he finally found the staircase leading to the second floor.

He looked up at the dark staircase, gripping his flashlight tightly, and stepped onto the stairs.

Suddenly, a creepy feeling crept over him.

During previous live streams, because of certain reasons, he often felt this way.

But this time, it was much stronger.

He started to regret it—this hospital hadn’t had a living person here for over ten years.

The previous spirit exploration streamer had come here late at night and died.

What’s the difference between him and ‘Daredevil’ now?

When he came during the day, he didn’t think he’d be afraid. But now that he was here, his feelings were completely different.

It was like watching a horror movie at night—picking a really scary one, wanting to watch but also feeling afraid.

Hoo~~

A cold wind brushed past his neck, like a blade, making him shiver.

How could there be wind indoors?

He stood stiffly on the platform, not daring to go up the stairs anymore.

His Adam’s apple bobbed, and he quickly swept his surroundings with his flashlight, searching for windows.

His hand holding the flashlight trembled slightly, but luckily, he saw two symmetrical windows on the wall behind him.

One of them was already broken, and the night wind was blowing the gray curtains, making them dance.

He couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

“I’m afraid of what… with so many viewers watching me, if something happens, they’ll definitely call the police first.”

Zuo Si comforted himself, lowering his head to look at his phone, only to find the barrage had exploded!

“Damn, I just saw a female ghost on the second floor!”

“I saw her too, wearing a patient gown, so scary!”

“Is there really a ghost here?! Barrage protection!”

“Hehe, you fools, that’s obviously an actor from a professional team! You believe it? That’s just laughable.”

……

Looking at these barrage comments, Zuo Si’s scalp was about to explode.

A female ghost on the second floor??

Is this viewers joking with him?

Back when he streamed before, some viewers liked to tease him, and he just laughed it off.

But this time, he couldn’t reassure himself no matter what—what if it’s real?

This place had just claimed a life!

“Quick, go to the second floor! What the hell are you standing there for, streamer!?”

“The boss’s gifts are all wasted, you’re just a coward!”

“The boss is so clueless! All fed to the dogs!”

……

The barrage was full of curses. If Zuo Si didn’t go up now, he’d never be able to stream again.

He couldn’t even pay his rent now, and if he didn’t get popular soon, he’d have to start doing manual labor!

He clenched his teeth and forced himself to walk up to the second floor.
