Chapter 114: Shenghua University

“Mr. Xia Tian, what are you thinking about? It’s time to get in the car!” Secretary Liu’s voice rang in my ears. I froze for a moment before replying, “Just give me a moment to calm myself…”

Is it time to leave? This place where I’ve spent two years—leaving it so suddenly really makes me a bit reluctant.

Other than home, this is the place I’ve stayed the longest. But in the end, I still have to leave.

Zhang Yu, Fatty, Sister Qian, Xu Xin… my friends, we’ll meet again if fate allows!

I sighed, climbed into the car, and said to Secretary Liu, “Let’s go.”

In the final week, I devoted myself to practicing the Dragon Battles the Eight Desolations that Long Qingyang had taught me. Occasionally, I sparred with the special forces soldiers. Once I got proficient, and since the matches were one-on-one, none of them were my match.

Since teaching me the Dragon Battles the Eight Desolations, Long Qingyang had vanished. Even when I called him, his phone was always off. I have no idea where my eccentric master has gone.

Mei’er was the one who introduced me to the world of cultivation, but the person who guided me the most was Long Qingyang. Although he wasn’t a cultivator, he taught me many things. Most of my current abilities are thanks to him.

Of course, I also owe a debt to Niu Shisan. With such an absurd name, I’ve never even met the guy. I wonder if he truly ascended to immortality.

Looking out the window at the rapidly passing scenery, I smiled wryly. Who knows when I’ll come back to this place again?

I left everything in the house behind. Secretary Liu said that once I arrived in the capital, Qin Shousheng would take care of everything for me. I didn’t feel the slightest pang about leaving those things behind.

More importantly, leaving my belongings there means Aunt Sun won’t realize I’ve left. That way, I won’t have to pay this month’s rent. I’m such a genius!

Still, I can’t shake the feeling that something’s off. Did I profit from this arrangement or lose out?

Closing my eyes, I began circulating True Qi through my body to calm my mind.

After multiple attempts to break through my Ren and Du meridians without success, I decided to focus on purifying my True Qi and converting it into liquid form. Perhaps then I could clear the meridians.

When that happens, I’ll be able to fly like a bird in the sky!

Alas, I’ve always had this flaw of being too flashy and attracting attention.

I’d better think about what kind of flying pose I should use. Ultraman’s pose is too silly and requires shouting something like “Shit!”—not very sophisticated.

As for Superman’s pose, wearing underwear outside my pants isn’t my style, especially not a red triangle pair. While I enjoy standing out, that’s too much.

“Mr. Xia Tian, we’ve arrived in the capital!” Secretary Liu’s voice snapped me out of my musings.

I paused, then smiled and said, “Got it…”

Time passed incredibly quickly while cultivating. It felt like only a few minutes had gone by since we left for the capital.

This cultivation technique truly is a travel essential!

Actually, we’d only reached the outskirts of the capital. But since Secretary Liu woke me up, I stopped cultivating to avoid delaying any important matters.

Bored, I opened my phone and started watching anime.

Before coming to the capital, I knew the journey would be dull. Although Secretary Liu was with me, he’s Qin Shousheng’s subordinate—no fun at all.

So, I downloaded a few videos in advance.

The anime was a risqué new release from Japan called “Dual Cultivation with a Fox Demon”. It’s wildly popular and reportedly adapted from a Chinese web novel. It’s a hit in both Japan and China—a feast of passion!

Just as the protagonist was about to *ahem* with the little fox demon, Secretary Liu’s voice interrupted me: “Mr. Xia Tian, we’ve arrived at Shenghua University.”

“Oh, I’ll get out now!” Suppressing my inner hunger, I pocketed my phone and stepped out of the car.

“So this is Shenghua University, huh? Really impressive!” I couldn’t help but marvel at the grandeur of the buildings. It’s truly worthy of being a prestigious school funded by the four great families of the capital.

“Mr. Xia Tian, here are the items Mr. Qin prepared for you.” As I was admiring the campus, Secretary Liu walked over with a large suitcase.

Taking the suitcase, I smiled and said, “Thanks.”

“To avoid revealing your identity to the person you’re protecting, you’ll handle the enrollment process yourself.”

Hearing this, I turned to him and asked, “I can manage the enrollment, but Uncle Qin still hasn’t told me who the person I’m protecting is. How am I supposed to confirm it?”

“Mr. Qin said the time isn’t right yet. When the time comes, you’ll know.” Secretary Liu smiled and added, “Here’s a small hint: the person you’re protecting is in the same department and class as you. That’s all I can say!”

With that, Secretary Liu nodded, returned to the car, and drove off.

What the heck! Was that supposed to be a question?

Dragging the suitcase, I slowly approached Shenghua University’s gate.

Isn’t Shenghua supposed to be hard to get into? Why are there so many people here to register? Don’t tell me they all got in through connections like me.

Shaking my head, I stopped overthinking and headed straight to the freshman reception area.

While walking, a decently handsome young man approached me with an excited expression. “Need any help?” he asked.

Oh wow, how touching! This senior actually wants to help me with my luggage.

“No need…” I was about to politely decline when the senior shoved me aside and said, “Junior, are you tired? Want me to wipe your sweat?”

Turning around, I saw that he wasn’t talking to me but to a girl behind me. So I was just overthinking.

“No need, thank you, senior.” The girl smiled and politely declined. But the guy persisted, grinning sycophantically, “The dorms are far from here. Let me carry your things for you.”

“Well… thank you, senior.” The girl hesitated but eventually agreed.

“Junior, coming to Shenghua University was the best choice you’ve made! Let me tell you…” The senior rambled excitedly before spotting me. His brows furrowed. “Move aside! Don’t block the way!”

What the heck! Was that necessary? Is it just because I’m a guy?

Either all the freshmen receptionists are like this, or this guy’s just an oddball.

For the record, my chest muscles are pretty impressive too!
