As I entered the room, I spotted a guy sitting under my bed, completely absorbed in a risqué Japanese romance film, oblivious to my arrival.
I moved closer for a better look, and what I saw almost made me explode with rage—he was using *my* laptop! The one that Qin Shousheng had given me, which I hadn’t even touched yet!
And why were there such videos on my new laptop? Could this be a “gift” from Qin Shousheng?
“Hey, buddy, enjoying it?” I tapped the guy’s shoulder with a forced smile.
Without even looking up, he chuckled, “Oh man, this is awesome! Look at the quality!”
“Is this your laptop?” I asked, feigning calmness.
Hearing that, the guy finally turned his head and stood up. “I wish it was! I’ve been asking my dad for one forever, but he won’t buy it. And it’s not like we’re short on money—he’s just stingy!”
At least he was honest. I smiled faintly and continued, “So, whose laptop is this?”
“Who knows? When I arrived at the dorm, I saw it on the desk and plugged in my USB to watch some movies. No idea which idiot it belongs to!” he said casually, completely unaware that my face had darkened.
I smiled again and said, “Well, sorry to disappoint you, buddy. I’m that idiot.”
The guy laughed heartily but then froze, pointing at me with a stutter. “Th-this laptop is yours?”
I chuckled without answering. If I weren’t a civilized person, I would’ve cursed him out right there. Damn it!
“Sorry, man! I didn’t know it was yours!” The guy quickly slung an arm around my shoulder, looking apologetic. “I had no idea.”
“No problem, I’m a generous person,” I said with a grin, pulling out his USB drive and stowing the laptop away. Damn it! My brand-new laptop was “deflowered” by this sleazy dude before I even used it!
“Hi, I’m Lu Sen,” he introduced himself.
Since he shared his name, it felt petty not to reciprocate. “Xia Tian,” I replied.
“Looks like we’re roommates now! Let’s forget about the earlier misunderstanding!” Lu Sen said, slapping my shoulder with a broad grin.
While we were chatting, another guy entered the room. He had a handsome face—like a model—and greeted us with a smile. “Hello, I’m Hao Shuai.”
Hao Shuai? What a show-off! You don’t need to rub it in with a name like “Handsome Hao.” I mean, I’m way better looking, and I don’t act like that!
“I’m Lu Sen, and this is Xia Tian,” Lu Sen, ever the social butterfly, introduced me without hesitation.
Hao Shuai arranged his belongings and smiled. “How about we grab a meal together later?”
“Yeah! We’re going to live together for the next four years. Let’s kick things off with a dinner!” Lu Sen chimed in enthusiastically.
I shook my head. “There are supposed to be four of us. Let’s wait for the last one to arrive first.”
“Good point. There are four beds, after all!” Lu Sen said, only now noticing the obvious.
Lu Sen pulled out a plastic bag from his bed containing some fruits. He handed one to each of us, saying, “These are a specialty from my hometown. Super sweet!”
“Not bad,” I said after taking a bite. The fruit was sweet and delicious.
Lu Sen and Hao Shuai stared at me in surprise and exclaimed, “You didn’t wash it first?”
I blinked, then took another bite, grinning. “A little dirt never hurt anyone!”
“Fair enough!” Lu Sen laughed and started eating.
Hao Shuai shook his head, went to the sink, washed his fruit, and then began eating.
“I have a bit of OCD. I can’t eat it unwashed. Hope you don’t mind,” he said with a wry smile.
“No problem,” Lu Sen replied with a chuckle. “By the way, where are you guys from?”
“I’m a local from the capital,” Hao Shuai said with a smile.
“Same here, I guess,” I added after a moment of thought.
“Wow, two rich and handsome guys in one room!” Lu Sen teased with a laugh.
Hao Shuai smiled faintly, not denying it.
“Come on, if that were true, there wouldn’t be any poor people in this city!” I retorted with a laugh.
Just then, the door opened, revealing our fourth roommate.
“What the hell—an old man?” I exclaimed involuntarily.
The newcomer was an elderly man with graying hair, wearing a suit that gave him an air of dignity.
The old man surveyed the room and respectfully called out, “Young Master, you may enter.”
A young man in a white suit stepped in.
“Fu Bo, you can leave now,” the young man said curtly.
“Very well,” the old man replied, bowing slightly. He then turned to us with a smile. “My young master is leaving home for the first time. Please take care of him.”
Lu Sen responded first with a grin. “No problem, sir! Leave it to us!”
The old man nodded and said to the young man, “Take care of yourself, Young Master.”
“Go, go!” The young man hurriedly pushed him out the door and locked it.
“Finally! I’m free!” the young man shouted gleefully, stripping off his white suit.
The sudden transformation left the three of us stunned.
Before we could process it, there was a knock on the door.
The young man opened it to find the old man again, who tearfully said, “Young Master, take care of your health. I can’t be there to look after you anymore!”
Sighing, the young man replied, “I will, Fu Bo. Goodbye!” Then he firmly shut the door.
He opened his suitcase and pulled out three brand-new white laptops, cheerfully handing one to each of us. “Here’s a little gift for my new bros!”
What the hell? This guy was giving away Apple laptops as *gifts*? Definitely a rich kid!
“I already have one, so I’ll pass,” Hao Shuai said politely, declining.
The young man’s face fell slightly at the rejection.
Sensing the awkwardness, Lu Sen quickly accepted one with a grin. “Wow! I’m following you from now on, boss! You’re crazy generous!”
The young man’s smile returned.
“Thanks,” I said, taking one as well.
Lu Sen turned to me in mock outrage. “Hey! You already have one! Don’t be so greedy!”
“Who says I can’t have two?” I retorted. “I’ll keep this one to impress girls!”
“Ah-hem!” The young man cleared his throat to grab our attention. With a smile, he introduced himself. “My name is Diao Sinan. Please take care of me from now on!”
Diao Sinan? For a rich kid, that’s a pretty ridiculous name! (G: Diao means wicked.)
