“Let go!” Liu Dong shouted angrily, attempting to pull his stick back.
I chuckled but remained silent. Liu Dong noticed I didn’t budge, his expression shifting to one of surprise and suspicion. Deciding to abandon the stick altogether, he rushed ahead to block the three individuals who were about to leave.
“What do you want?” the petite beauty asked, her face filled with alarm.
The icy beauty, however, remained calm and composed. “Step aside!”
Liu Dong sighed. “Let me take her to the infirmary!”
I hadn’t expected Liu Dong to say such a thing. I thought he might actually strike the two charming beauties.
“Coach, let me handle this!” A sudden thought occurred to me—escorting the unconscious girl to the infirmary might be a chance to enjoy some small advantages along the way.
To my surprise, Liu Dong glared at me, his eyes wide with fury. “Go back and stand in formation!”
Hearing this, I quickly returned to the team. If I delayed, Liu Dong might actually lay hands on me. As someone so kind-hearted, I definitely didn’t want him to lose face in front of the new recruits.
Liu Dong carried the unconscious girl to the infirmary, while the two beauties rejoined the formation.
I plopped down on the ground. The coach was gone—why keep standing at attention? I wasn’t masochistic enough to enjoy self-torture.
Seeing me sit, the others followed suit and sat down as well.
“Boss, you’re amazing! You actually dared to confront the instructor!” Lu Sen exclaimed in admiration.
I smiled lightly. “Just a little daring.”
What a joke. With my current strength, I could take down six special forces soldiers. Liu Dong might be an elite in the military, but was he stronger than special forces? Even if those soldiers were retired, could Liu Dong match half their combat prowess?
“Handsome guy, that was pretty impressive just now! Thanks!” The petite beauty approached me with a smile.
I smiled back. “It was nothing, just a righteous act.”
“Either way, thank you!” With that, she bounced back to join the group of girls.
She didn’t even leave her name. What’s the point of just saying thank you?
Diao Sinan approached with a pitiful expression. “This university is terrifying. I want to go home!”
“Is this really such a hardship?” I looked at Diao Sinan, helplessly wondering how spoiled he must have been at home to be unable to handle this.
Hao Shuai chimed in, “It’s just standing at attention. We’re all rich kids here; the school won’t push us too hard. The military training only lasts half a month. It’ll be over soon!”
“Exactly! Don’t you want to stay for your second brother?” Lu Sen added playfully.
Diao Sinan gave him a disdainful look. “Second brother? More like old number two!”
“You brat, asking for a beating!” Lu Sen rolled up his sleeves, ready to pounce on Diao Sinan.
Hao Shuai and I exchanged a glance and burst out laughing.
Guessing that Liu Dong would return soon, I quickly stood up and resumed standing at attention. Though the others didn’t know why I suddenly stood, they all followed suit.
Before long, Liu Dong returned. Checking his watch, he announced, “Dismissed!”
“Finally, we can rest!”
“I’m exhausted. This is pure t0rture!”
“Let’s find some shade under the trees!”
“Yeah, too tired!”
What kind of people are these? Just after resting, they’re already complaining about being tired. Born performers, all of them.
I was about to join Hao Shuai and the others under the trees when Liu Dong pointed at me. “You, come with me!”
“Me?” I asked, pointing at myself, thinking he must have mistaken me for someone else.
“It’s you!” Liu Dong frowned.
Damn! Looks like my earlier act of heroism really made him hold a grudge.
“Boss, are you really going?” Lu Sen asked, worried, seeing me about to follow Liu Dong.
I sighed. “No choice…”
“Boss, if Liu Dong dares to lay a hand on you, let me know. I’ll take care of it!” Hao Shuai patted my shoulder.
Diao Sinan joined in, “Yeah, Boss! If you’re wronged, I’ll call my dad over!”
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry!” I reassured them before following Liu Dong.
He said nothing as we walked into a small tent.
As soon as we entered, Liu Dong turned and kicked at me. Luckily, I was prepared and dodged in time.
“Hey! What are you doing?” I asked angrily, surprised by how petty he was.
Liu Dong paused, then smiled. “Nothing. You can go now.”
What? He’s letting me go just like that?
Seeing me hesitate, Liu Dong frowned again. “What, not leaving? Want to get hit?”
“I’m leaving!” I replied with a smile before exiting the tent.
When I returned, Lu Sen and the others immediately surrounded me. “Boss, are you okay?”
I smiled. “Of course, I’m your boss. Nothing happened!”
“What did Liu Dong want?” Hao Shuai asked, puzzled.
I shook my head helplessly. “I have no idea!”
“No way!” Lu Sen looked skeptical, then smirked. “Boss, did you get beaten up and don’t dare admit it?”
“Get beaten, my foot!” I laughed and scolded.
Hao Shuai chuckled. “If it’s fine, let it go.”
Diao Sinan nodded with a grin. “Guess I don’t need to call my dad!”
Suddenly, Lu Sen clutched his stomach. “I need to pee. Be right back!”
“There’s no bathroom here. Go to the woods behind us,” I said with a helpless smile.
Clearly in a rush, Lu Sen didn’t hesitate and headed toward the woods.
Hao Shuai, Diao Sinan, and I chatted under the shade of a large tree. However, after more than ten minutes, Lu Sen still hadn’t returned. Even if he had a stomach issue, he should’ve been back by now.
“Could something have happened to Lu Sen?” Hao Shuai frowned, his thoughts mirroring mine.
Diao Sinan laughed. “What are you worried about? It’s all classmates here. Nothing will happen to second brother!”
Diao Sinan’s words reassured me. Lu Sen had only been at the university for a day and hadn’t made any enemies—well, aside from some tension with Zhou Hua. But thanks to Hao Shuai, Zhou Hua shouldn’t dare touch Lu Sen.
Just as I was thinking this, Lu Sen appeared, disheveled, with a swollen face and a split lip—clearly beaten.
I was about to ask what happened when I noticed Zhou Hua and a group of people following behind him, all grinning.
Clenching my fists, I growled, “Was it you who hit Lu Sen?”
Hao Shuai stood up as well. “Zhou Hua, you’re getting bolder!”
Zhou Hua’s face was still filled with smiles. “How could I dare touch one of Young Master Hao’s friends?”
“If not you, then who?” Hao Shuai pressed.
“It was me!” As the voice fell, a figure appeared in our sight.
