Chapter 137: Farewell, 213

Since Wang Haoming needed to cheer up his sister, I took a ride to Shenghua by myself.

What I couldn’t figure out was how Wang Ziyan, who had been on the verge of despair before, suddenly developed feelings for me.

Before, there was no affection between us—if anything, we were practically enemies. How did things end up like this? A woman’s heart is truly unpredictable.

Right now, everything felt a little unreal. I hadn’t gone to find Qin Shousheng, nor had I looked for the old man, yet I had walked out of the police station just like that.

Zhao Gao should stay quiet for a while. After all, Wang Haoming’s intervention had made it clear to him that I wasn’t someone to be trifled with.

At the very least, in his mind, I still carried the title of a soldier.

“Boss, you’re back!”

As soon as I stepped into the tent, Lu Sen rushed over excitedly.

I chuckled. “Look at you, so impatient. I told you I’d be back, didn’t I?”

“Boss, I missed you so much!” Diao Sinan also ran over and hugged me tightly, making me break out in goosebumps.

Hao Shuai was surprised to see me return, but he didn’t react as dramatically. Instead, he simply smiled and said, “Boss…”

“It’s fine now! Zhao Gao shouldn’t cause any more trouble for the time being!” I reassured them with a grin.

Lu Sen frowned upon hearing this. “Boss, are we just letting this go?”

“Of course not. Things between Zhao Gao and me are far from over, but he shouldn’t bother you guys anymore.” I replied casually, trying to sound indifferent.

The smile on Hao Shuai’s face instantly disappeared.

Of the three, he was the calmest, and back then, I had even considered him someone who needed protection. But hearing my words now, he must have realized something.

“Boss, did you completely offend Zhao Gao so that he’d focus all his attention on you instead of us?” Hao Shuai stared at me intently.

I froze for a moment, then smiled. “I can handle it. The Zhao family may be powerful, but I, Xia Tian, am not someone to be underestimated!”

Hao Shuai suddenly seemed to understand something. He pointed at me. “Boss, you’re actually Xia—”

I quickly stepped forward and covered his mouth. “It’s fine if you know, just don’t say it out loud.”

Hao Shuai nodded excitedly, while Lu Sen, looking confused, asked, “Third Bro, what were you trying to say? Boss, why did you stop him?”

“Nothing important!” Hao Shuai stepped in to cover for me. We exchanged glances and nodded in understanding.

Over the next few days, Zhao Gao indeed stayed quiet, and Lu Sen and the others gradually relaxed. With military training almost over, I figured it was time to move out.

“I have something to tell you all!”

I clapped my hands to get everyone’s attention.

Hao Shuai and Diao Sinan immediately looked at me, but Lu Sen, still wearing his headphones and watching a romance film, remained focused on his laptop.

“Little Fourth, call your Second Bro over.” I said to Diao Sinan.

Diao Sinan nodded, grabbed the pillow next to him, and threw it straight at Lu Sen.

“Damn! What the hell? Why are you messing with me? Can’t you see I’m busy?” Lu Sen grumbled, taking off his headphones in frustration.

I looked at him. “I was the one who threw it. Any objections?”

“Oh, it was you, Boss. What can I do for you?” Lu Sen immediately put on a flattering smile.

This guy sure knew how to switch attitudes quickly. He was getting good at sucking up.

“I need to tell you guys something…”

I took a deep breath. Though I hadn’t known them for long, I had grown quite attached to them. Saying goodbye now was unexpectedly difficult.

“Boss, hesitating isn’t like you. Just say it!” Lu Sen said boldly.

Diao Sinan chimed in, “Yeah, Boss, just say it!”

Only Hao Shuai remained silent, seemingly deep in thought.

“I want to move out…”

I took another deep breath and finally said it, keeping it simple.

“Then just move out.” Lu Sen laughed at first, but then his expression changed as he processed my words. “Wait, what? Boss, you’re moving out? Why?!”

“Yeah, Boss! We’re doing great together. Why are you leaving?” Diao Sinan looked anxious.

Hao Shuai leaned against the wall, staring at me. “Boss, are you doing this to protect us?”

I was stunned for a moment. “What makes you say that?”

“You just said it yourself—Zhao Gao will only target you now. So staying here does nothing but put us at risk. You’re moving out to keep us from getting dragged into it, aren’t you?” Hao Shuai analyzed the situation and looked at me for confirmation.

To be honest, what he said had crossed my mind. But that wasn’t my main reason for leaving—I simply wanted to live with Mei’er, and I didn’t want to have to worry about anything while cultivating.

But since Hao Shuai put it that way, I decided to just go along with it. There was no need to come up with another excuse.

“More or less…” I nodded.

“Boss, you don’t have to leave! Stay! There’s no way in hell that coward Zhao Gao can take us down!” Lu Sen said stubbornly, looking like he was ready to risk everything.

“Don’t be reckless. The Zhao family’s influence in the capital isn’t something you can imagine.” I scolded him.

But Lu Sen refused to back down. “Boss, if anything, Zhao Gao’s grudge started because of me. If anyone should move out, it’s me, not you!”

“Why are you so damn stubborn?!” I glared at him. “If you still consider me your boss, then drop it!”

“But… we can’t just let you go alone!” Lu Sen was still reluctant.

Hao Shuai finally spoke. “Boss moving out is the best choice—for both him and us.”

Diao Sinan looked down, his voice tinged with sadness. “But… I don’t want Boss to leave. We’ve only been together for a few days, and now he’s already leaving…”

“Exactly! We have four years of college, and now, after just a couple of weeks, we’re already splitting up. This sucks!” Lu Sen was usually optimistic, but sometimes, he was strangely sentimental. I wasn’t sure what to say in response.

Hao Shuai looked at Lu Sen and said, “Second Bro, put yourself in Boss’s shoes. Now isn’t the time for emotional outbursts.”

I stayed silent, waiting for Lu Sen’s response.

Honestly, leaving so suddenly made me feel reluctant too. But if I didn’t leave now, I was afraid I never would.

For Mei’er… Brothers, I’m sorry!

This wasn’t betrayal—it was loyalty. If I had truly abandoned them, I wouldn’t have even told them I was moving out.

“Fine, Boss can leave… but we need a farewell gathering first!”

After a long silence, Lu Sen finally made up his mind.

I breathed a sigh of relief. “I was thinking the same thing. Let’s go out and have a meal together!”

“Should we go now?” Lu Sen asked eagerly.

I laughed and scolded him. “Are you crazy? It’s late—most restaurants are already closed!”

Sigh… Farewell, Dorm Room 213.
