Chapter 146: Mei’er, Please Don’t Leave Me

The moment Mei’er’s soft l!ps pressed against mine, the True Qi within my body surged uncontrollably, expanding violently as if I were about to explode.

But this sensation lasted only for an instant.

The chaotic True Qi was suddenly restrained by another force, slowly being guided.

In the end, all of it flowed into Mei’er’s mouth.

“Xia Tian, are you feeling better?” Still immersed in my shock, I was startled by Mei’er’s voice. I froze for a moment before coming to my senses.

Now that Mei’er’s body was in contact with mine, it was just like when she transformed into a necklace—we could communicate telepathically.

“Hey! Mei’er, stop immediately! There’s too much True Qi—you won’t be able to handle it!” I shouted anxiously in my mind.

Only then did I realize what Mei’er was trying to do. She wanted to absorb all my excess True Qi into her own body to ease my burden.

Mei’er shook her head slightly. “I am a Nine-Tailed Celestial Fox by nature. This True Qi won’t harm me much.”

“But you demons don’t cultivate True Qi! If you absorb it, it will conflict with the spiritual energy you cultivate!”

Demon cultivation and immortal cultivation were fundamentally different. Demons were born of nature and absorbed the spiritual energy of heaven and earth directly, without the need for refinement. Humans, on the other hand, had to refine spiritual energy before they could use it.

If Mei’er forcibly introduced True Qi into her body, it would be a life-threatening gamble!

I wanted to push Mei’er away, but I had no strength left—I could only let her do as she pleased. Damn it!

“Xia Tian, trust me! I’ll be fine!” Mei’er said firmly.

I had no other options, so I could only remain silent.

As the True Qi drained from my body, the intense pain gradually subsided, and sensation returned to my fingers.

But I couldn’t feel relieved at all—because Mei’er’s face had turned completely red. And it wasn’t from embarrassment over our kiss! I could see beads of sweat covering her forehead.

“Mei’er, stop!” I shouted in my mind. No! I couldn’t let Mei’er get hurt for my sake again. Last time, she nearly lost her life trying to stop my bleeding. I couldn’t let history repeat itself!

“Mei’er, let go!” My heart roared, but Mei’er acted as if she didn’t hear me. Instead, she increased the intensity of her absorption.

As the excess True Qi was drawn in more violently, the meridians in her body couldn’t keep up with the rapid influx.

Then, something shocking happened—my long-blocked Ren and Du meridians suddenly loosened!

But at this moment, I would rather they remain blocked forever than let Mei’er suffer.

“Mei’er! Mei’er! Stop!”

Why was my body still unable to move? Mei’er’s complexion was no longer just red—it had turned from red to purple, then from purple to a deathly pale white, shifting between colors repeatedly. Something was terribly wrong with her body!

Mei’er could definitely hear me, so why wouldn’t she let go? Had she lost control over the True Qi’s rampage?

No! I wouldn’t let anything happen to her!

“Mei’er!”

With this furious cry from my heart, my Ren and Du meridians were abruptly forced open. True Qi surged through them unimpeded, and my body instantly regained full consciousness.

Mei’er’s face was flushed, and the sweat on her cheeks glistened like fresh blood. Yet, despite this, she still forced a smile at me and said, “Xia Tian… You… you’re okay now… That’s great…”

As soon as she finished speaking, her eyes closed, and she collapsed toward the ground. I quickly caught her, tears streaming down my face uncontrollably.

“Mei’er… why are you so foolish?!”

Even as she lay unconscious, she still wore a faint smile. At the corner of her eye, a single drop of moisture clung there—I couldn’t tell if it was sweat or a tear.

I should have known this would happen. My True Qi would inevitably clash with Mei’er’s spiritual energy! Two completely opposing forces were bound to repel each other!

Yet, I had simply stood there, watching as Mei’er risked her life for me until she lost consciousness.

Slap!

I smacked myself hard across the face and muttered, “Xia Tian… Haha! You owe Su Mei’er far too much!”

Mei’er’s body was now just like mine had been earlier—like a small volcano, radiating unbearable heat.

Yet, I didn’t feel burned in the slightest.

All I felt was heart-wrenching pain, as if my soul were being torn apart…

Tears poured from my eyes, as if I had forgotten the oath I once made.

Six years ago, a frail figure knelt on the ground, gazing up at a photo of his parents, his eyes filled with tears. Yet, his voice remained stubborn as he swore:

“I, Xia Tian, swear that no matter what hardships I face in the future, I will never shed a tear! I will never let you, who watch over me from heaven, worry about me! I, Xia Tian, will become a strong man! I will restore the Xia family to its former glory with my own hands!”

Why?!

Why was the heavens so cruel to me?!

Before I could even grow up, it took my parents away.

And now, it wanted to take Mei’er from me too?!

Was the heavens truly blind?

If so, why did it even exist?!

“Xia…”

Suddenly, an extremely weak voice reached my ears. If not for my keen hearing, I wouldn’t have caught it at all.

“Mei’er! Mei’er!” I hurriedly called out to Mei’er, but she showed no response.

That voice just now was definitely Mei’er’s! She was still alive—she could still be saved! The hospital—yes! I had to take her to the hospital!

I immediately picked Mei’er up in my arms and, in a panic, rushed toward the door.

Even though taking her to the hospital might expose her identity and attract demon hunters, I couldn’t care less at this moment. I couldn’t lose Mei’er!

Just as I opened the door, Wang Ziyan walked over and said, “I’ve already set up the room. Do you want me to arrange yours as well?”

“Get out of the way!” I shouted at Wang Ziyan, who was blocking my path.

However, she lifted her head, displeased. “Why are you like this?”

“Move!” I could no longer suppress the anger surging in my heart.

Tears welled up in Wang Ziyan’s eyes, but I felt no guilt whatsoever.

At that moment, Sister Lin also walked over, frowning as she said, “Why are you speaking to Ziyan like that? She’s just trying to help…”

Hearing Sister Lin’s words, I once again failed to contain my emotions and bellowed at her, “Move!”

“You—!” Sister Lin clearly hadn’t expected me to speak to her that way. For a moment, she was so shocked that she couldn’t even find the words to respond.

“What’s wrong with Mei’er? Why is her face so red?” Sister Lin asked in surprise as she looked at Mei’er in my arms. As she spoke, she reached out toward her.

I immediately stepped back and shouted at her, “What are you trying to do?!”

“So hot!” The moment Sister Lin touched Mei’er, she instantly withdrew her hand.

“Move!” I demanded again in a low, firm voice.

Sister Lin froze for a moment before saying, “Xia Tian, I know you’re worried about Mei’er’s condition, but now isn’t the time to panic. You need to stay calm!”

Even though she said this, she still took a step back.

Calm? Telling me to stay calm at a time like this?

I ignored Sister Lin and headed straight for the villa’s exit.

But before I could even reach the door, Mei’er’s body began emitting tiny glowing specks. A scorching heat radiated from my hands, as if it was going to melt me.

Whenever Mei’er transformed into a necklace, she would emit a flash of white light—but this time, it felt as if she were disappearing entirely.

As those glowing specks dissipated one by one, Mei’er vanished into thin air, leaving no trace behind…

“Mei’er, please don’t leave me!” I cried out her name, falling to my knees in despair.
