Chapter 210: Possessed by a Yin Soul

“You’re not Qin Mengdie. Tell me, who are you really?!” I stared intently at “Qin Mengdie” and demanded.

Qin Mengdie smirked eerily. “I am Qin Mengdie. What’s wrong? Don’t you recognize me anymore?”

“D@mn it!” I cursed under my breath and lunged at her.

There was no way this person could be Qin Mengdie—she would never talk to me like this! Her tone was completely off!

What baffled me was that her aura was Qin Mengdie’s. What the hell was going on?!

Just as I was about to grab her, I suddenly felt like I’d slammed into an invisible wall. The force sent me stumbling back several steps before I regained my balance.

There was nothing in front of me—so what had blocked me?

Combined with “Qin Mengdie’s” creepy smile, the whole situation felt unnerving. Could this be the legendary possession by a Yin Soul? I’d never heard of such a thing happening at Shenghua before.

Then I remembered an old saying:

Beneath universities, there are either mass graves or endless tombs. The reason universities are built on such land is to suppress the lingering demonic energy.

If that was true, then the back campus—deserted since the university’s founding—could indeed harbor wandering spirits.

But Song Kexin and Qin Mengdie had both gone to the restroom. Why was Song Kexin fine while Qin Mengdie had been possessed?

“I don’t care what you are, but I’m warning you—get out of Qin Mengdie’s body now. Don’t force me to take action!” As I spoke, I drew the black dagger from my Storage Ring.

“Hahaha!” Qin Mengdie let out a sinister laugh and taunted, “If you’ve got the skills, come catch me!” With that, she bolted upstairs.

“D@mmit! Why did I have to run into this crap?!” I swore and immediately chased after her.

Honestly, I was terrified. I’d never claimed to be brave—hell, I’d fainted the first time I saw Mei’er. But with Qin Mengdie’s life in danger, I had no choice but to push forward.

Since we were on the stairs, even though she was running, her speed was no faster than an average person’s. With a few long strides, I quickly caught sight of her.

“Stop!” I shouted at Qin Mengdie.

She turned her head, her lips curling into a slow, eerie smile before suddenly speeding up.

I couldn’t let this drag on. Gritting my teeth, I activated my Levitation Technique mid-staircase and flew up, cutting her off at the landing. I pointed the black dagger at her.

Startled by my sudden appearance, Qin Mengdie froze—but only for a second before that unsettling smile returned.

Instead of dodging, she charged straight at me.

This was still Qin Mengdie’s body—I couldn’t attack her. Cursing inwardly, I sidestepped to avoid her.

Seeing me dodge, she laughed. “Oh? So you do care about her? Too bad—she’ll soon be just like me… a pile of mangled flesh! Hahaha!” With that, she suddenly accelerated, darting toward the rooftop like a ghost.

“Sh!t!” I swore and chased after her using the Levitation Technique again.

Since I couldn’t strike her, every time I blocked her path, she slipped away.

“Stop right there, or I will take action!” By now, we’d reached the rooftop, and she was dangerously close to the edge.

Qin Mengdie turned to me, her eyes seductive. “Would you really? Could you truly bring yourself to hurt me?”

Her words hit me like a punch to the gut. My grip on the dagger tightened, but I couldn’t speak.

She was right—I couldn’t do it. Even if I attacked, it would be Qin Mengdie who suffered, not her.

I had no experience dealing with possession. Sure, I was a cultivator, but I wasn’t one of those Maoshan ghost-hunting priests!

“This body is just too perfect… I almost don’t want to jump!” Qin Mengdie stroked her own face, then smirked at me. “How about I let you have your way with her before I leap? Such a fine body—what a waste not to let you enjoy it!”

“One more word, and I’ll cut out your tongue!” I snarled.

She burst into laughter. “Oh, but would you really?” Then, with a shrug, she said, “No interest? Fine. Time to jump!”

Before I could react, she flung herself off the building.

The building was nine stories high—even I would be reduced to a pulp if I jumped, let alone Qin Mengdie. She’d be dead on impact.

“Godd@mmit!” I cursed and leaped after her, activating the Levitation Technique mid-fall.

“Hahaha! Another fool rushing to his death!” Qin Mengdie’s face twisted with excitement as she fell.

Gritting my teeth, I accelerated, swooping down and catching her in midair before soaring back to the rooftop.

“Y-you—you can fly?! What are you?!” Qin Mengdie struggled in my grip, her eyes wide with shock.

Since she hadn’t noticed me using the Levitation Technique earlier in the stairwell, my sudden flight had caught her off guard.

My heart pounded wildly, far faster than normal.

If not for the Levitation Technique, Qin Mengdie’s body would already be a bloody mess on the ground.

Taking a deep breath, I glared at her. “You’ve seen it now—I’m not an ordinary person. I’ll give you one last chance: leave her body, or I will make you regret it.”

“So what if you can fly? You still can’t do anything to me!” Qin Mengdie sneered. “If you could force me out, you would’ve done it already!”

This ghost was sharper than I’d expected—a real pain to deal with.

I had to find a way to expel her from Qin Mengdie’s body, or things would take a turn for the worse.

First, I’d test if True Qi affected her. Channeling my energy, I sent a surge of True Qi into Qin Mengdie’s body.

“What is this?!” The moment the True Qi entered, she recoiled in panic.

It’s working! Just as I was about to push more True Qi in, she suddenly laughed. “Is this all you’ve got? Pathetic! It doesn’t hurt me at all!”

D@mn it! Useless! All that excitement for nothing.

If True Qi didn’t work, I’d have to try another approach.

What was a soul, exactly? Scientifically, I had no clue, but in cultivation terms, it was essentially a person’s spiritual energy—their consciousness. Ghosts likely formed due to unresolved grievances, their lingering resentment binding them to the mortal world.

If it was tied to spiritual energy, maybe my Purple-Gold Enchanting Eyes could affect her.

Activating them instantly, I locked eyes with the possessed Qin Mengdie.

This time, the moment my eyes glowed, she began thrashing violently. “What are you doing to me?!”

Seeing the effect, I deepened my voice. “Leave Qin Mengdie’s body.”

Qin Mengdie stopped struggling. Her eyes glazed over as she nodded blankly—then collapsed unconscious.

At the same time, a translucent female figure materialized beside her. Since my Purple-Gold Enchanting Eyes had targeted the possessing demon, she now stood there in a daze.

Contrary to what I’d imagined, the ghost didn’t look horrifying. Aside from her faint glow and semi-transparent form, she appeared almost… normal.

Wait…

That face—I’ve seen her before!

How… how could it be her?!
