Chapter 246: The Truth Behind My Parents’ Death

“Hey! Tang Shuyao, let me explain!” I shouted at Tang Shuyao, but she recoiled and ignored me.

“D@mn it!” I cursed under my breath, wondering where that pervert had run off to. I had hit him hard enough to knock him out; how could he just disappear? Was he some kind of expert? But I didn’t sense any expertise from him at all. D@mn it!

Shaking my head in frustration, I returned to my bedroom. I had nothing to hide; I hadn’t stolen anything! Besides, did I really need to engage in such sordid activities? I tossed the bras and panties into the corner.

Since I had already slept enough during the day, I sat down cross-legged and began my cultivation. True Qi flowed freely through my meridians, unhindered and quite easily. At that moment, my Dantian was filled with dense True Qi, still in gaseous form, and the small crescent moon I had once felt was nowhere to be seen.

If it weren’t for Wu Ming telling me that I was at the initial stage of Lunar Reflection, I probably wouldn’t even know what my cultivation level was right now. The True Qi surrounding my golden little sword had all turned golden as well. I tried to sense it, and to my surprise, this True Qi had transformed into Sword Qi!

I wondered what those old monsters would think if they knew I could generate Sword Qi. Following the cultivation route of the fourth layer of the Nine Revolutions of Heaven and Earth, I circulated my True Qi for an unknown number of great and small circulations before finally stopping.

I felt that the spiritual energy in the air was simply too sparse; it was the first time I had such a feeling. Previously, I thought there was enough spiritual energy in the air for my use, but ever since stepping into the initial stage of Lunar Reflection, it felt like there was hardly any left. Thankfully, I had several piles of spirit stones; otherwise, I really wouldn’t know what to do in the future.

When I opened my eyes again, it was already dawn. I was no longer surprised; after all, I had gotten used to the fact that closing and opening my eyes could span several days.

As I stepped out of my bedroom, Tang Shuyao’s voice came through, “You big pervert, how dare you show your face!”

“If I were a pervert, I would have eaten you first!” I replied irritably. There was no need to dwell on this matter; explaining further would be pointless.

Wang Ziyuan was off today, so it was rare to have someone standing on the same side as me. “Yao Yao, I believe Xia Tian isn’t that kind of person!”

At that moment, my phone suddenly rang; it was Old Wu calling. I had just given him my number yesterday, and he was contacting me today. Did the old man have something to discuss?

I answered the phone and said, “Old Wu, what do you need?”

“Family Head, the old Family Head is looking for you. He hopes you can come back quickly! I’ve already sent someone to wait for you at the school gate!” Old Wu’s respectful voice came through the line.

I felt uncomfortable hearing the title “Family Head,” but since I had taken over that position, I indeed had to bear the responsibility that came with it. Sighing, I said, “Alright, I’ll head back right away!”

“Xia Tian, where are you going? Bring back some snacks for your sister when you return!” Sister Lin called out to me.

“Got it!” I replied curtly as I exited the apartment.

When I reached the school gate, I saw the Xia Family’s car waiting for me. I got in and headed back to the Xia Family.

“Family Head, the old master is waiting for you in the study! Do you need me to take you there?” Old Wu asked.

I smiled at Old Wu and said, “Come on, Old Wu, you’ve watched me grow up. Don’t call me Family Head; it makes me uncomfortable!”

“Indeed, that little master who used to run around naked has now become the Family Head of the Xia Family. Time really flies!” Old Wu said with a hint of nostalgia.

D@mn it… Although I had a habit of running around naked when I was a child, you really didn’t have to bring it up! The readers are watching!

“Old Wu, I know the location of the study, so you don’t need to take me there! I’m heading off first!” After saying this, I made my way toward the Old Man’s study. It had been two years since I last returned, and the changes in the Xia Family were quite significant, but I still remembered the route. Before long, I arrived at the Old Man’s study.

I knocked on the door, and immediately, the Old Man’s voice came from inside, “Is that Old Wu? If Xia Tian is back, let him in!”

“Old Man, it’s me, Xia Tian! I can come in!” I pushed the door open and walked inside. The Old Man was sitting alone in a chair, and upon seeing me, he smiled and said, “You’re here!”

“Yeah!” I responded and then sat down on the sofa, looking at the Old Man as I asked, “Old Man, you called me back this time for what reason?”

The Old Man’s smile faded, and he sighed, saying, “Now that you are the Family Head, I should tell you the true cause of your parents’ deaths!”

“True cause of death?!” I was taken aback, my heart racing as I looked at the Old Man and asked anxiously, “You mean, my parents didn’t die in a car accident?”

“That’s right…” The Old Man sighed helplessly and continued, “They had already died before the car accident, and the accident was merely staged to look like an unfortunate incident!”

“Who did it? Was it the Zhao Family?!” Upon hearing this news, my heart was consumed by rage, and the first family that came to mind was the Zhao Family!

The Old Man shook his head, “The Zhao Family doesn’t have the guts for that. Old Wu and I suspect it might have been an Ancient Martial Arts master!” He sighed again and added, “Their organs were shattered, and their meridians severed—only an Ancient Martial Arts master could accomplish that. That’s why I kept you at the Xia Family and didn’t let you go out…”

“Impossible!” I immediately rejected that idea. Although my father was strict with me, he rarely caused trouble for outsiders and was quite capable in his dealings; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been regarded as an unparalleled Family Head by others!

The Old Man sighed, “I know your father’s character well; he wouldn’t provoke an Ancient Martial Family. Old Wu and I suspect it might be related to your birthday gift!”

“Birthday gift?!” I was stunned for a moment, unsure of what to say. My parents had left on my birthday, and their last words were, “Be good, Xia Tian. Mommy and Daddy are going out to buy you a really nice birthday gift that you will definitely love!” But they never returned…

“Come with me!” The Old Man said, and suddenly, the bookshelf behind him moved, revealing a passage in front of me.

The Old Man’s study actually concealed a secret mechanism! I was surprised for a moment but then followed the Old Man into the hidden chamber.

“This is the gift your parents had prepared for you…” The Old Man handed me a brocade box and said, “Open it and take a look.”

I nodded and opened the brocade box, revealing a transparent orb before my eyes. The orb looked ordinary, but it was surrounded by a rich aura of Qi. Beneath the orb lay a piece of light blue torn cloth.

When I shifted my attention to the torn cloth, the Old Man said, “This piece of fabric was likely left behind by the person who killed your parents, which is why I kept it.”

Upon hearing this, I examined the torn cloth more carefully, hoping to find something written on it, but it was just an ordinary piece of fabric. Yet, it was the only clue I had in searching for my parents’ murderer.

I shifted my focus back to the orb. There was nothing particularly special about it; it merely contained a faint aura of Qi, even less impressive than a spirit stone. I squeezed it hard, and to my surprise, it didn’t break. Aside from being quite hard, it had no other notable characteristics.

I found it strange; since the person who killed my parents was after the orb, why hadn’t they come to the Xia Family to continue their search?

He must have been able to investigate my parents’ identities, yet he didn’t continue to pursue it. What could be the reason for that? And this piece of rag—how can I help my parents take revenge with just these clues? While I was lost in thought, my phone suddenly rang. Feeling down, I was about to hang up when I noticed it was a call from Zhang Yu. I took a deep breath to calm myself and answered, “What’s up, Zhang Yu?”

“Can you come back for a bit?” Zhang Yu asked immediately.

To my surprise, he didn’t call me an idiot, and his tone was somewhat anxious. Feng Xinghua had already been dealt with, so Zhang Yu shouldn’t be in any trouble, but from his tone, it seemed like something had happened.

As I was contemplating this, Zhang Yu continued, “Something happened at Fatty’s house!”
