Chapter 34: Liu Yan

I took several sets of photos with my phone, thoroughly satisfied, before finally allowing Sun Dan to dress and leave.

I waited until her car disappeared, then removed the black stockings from my head and swiftly left the hotel.

The entire drive home felt exhilarating. Sun Dan even messaged, pleading that I not trouble her further. I replied that I would not extort her, but poor behaviour would still cost her dearly.

I arrived home at nine in the evening.

“Brother Nan, you’re back!” He Lulu greeted me with a bright smile.

“What are you doing?” I asked, surprised to see steam rising from the kitchen.

He Lulu rubbed her hands shyly, cheeks pink. “I was afraid you’d be hungry, so I made some dumplings.”

Her words warmed my heart.

I truly was famished; the intense session with Sun Dan had drained me.

“Lulu, you’re wonderful,” I said sincerely.

“Sit and relax, Brother Nan. I’ll bring them right out.” She guided me to the sofa, then hurried back to the kitchen.

Her dumplings were exquisite. I devoured two large bowls, let out a satisfied belch, and felt utterly content. He Lulu cleared the dishes, then settled beside me.

“Brother Nan, Fangfang is honeymooning in Malaysia. The scenery looks amazing,” she said wistfully.

“We can go someday too,” I smiled.

“Really?” She grabbed my arm excitedly.

“Of course. Would I lie to you?” I gently tapped her nose.

“Mmm! I’m so excited. I’ll start my new job soon, so I’ll have more freedom,” she nodded eagerly.

Seeing how easily pleased she was filled me with tenderness, especially since Fangfang and my cousin’s honeymoon reminded me how my own wife had cancelled ours for “work.”

“Brother Nan, I’ve already showered. Would you like to take one?” He Lulu changed the subject.

It was past ten. Time for bed.

“Yes, I’ll freshen up.”

Tonight He Lulu wore adorable pyjamas that made her look like an innocent young girl. The thought of holding her all night stirred anticipation.

After a long hot shower, I stepped out of the bathroom feeling renewed.

Though I had prepared the guest room for her, He Lulu slipped into my bedroom.

“Lulu, planning to sleep with me tonight?” I teased.

“I want to… but not in this bed,” she pouted, glancing at the mattress.

I understood instantly: this was the marital bed I shared with my wife.

“Fine. I’ll sleep in the guest room with you,” I smiled.

“Mhm!” She nodded happily.

Unlike the raw dominance with Sun Dan, with He Lulu I was gentle, attentive, always checking her comfort. We savoured each other slowly as time drifted by.

The next morning she woke me with a delicious breakfast already prepared.

After eating, we visited nearby agencies and secured a one-bedroom flat near Metro City for her.

“Brother Nan, the rent here is so expensive. A whole year will cost a fortune,” she pouted, though her eyes shone with joy.

My commissions from Hangzhou and Hainan totalled well over a hundred thousand. Forty or fifty thousand a year was nothing, especially for someone as good as Lulu.

“As long as you can work here steadily, it’s worth it,” I said.

“I don’t want anyone saying I live off a man. I’ll pay you back,” she declared seriously.

“Whenever you like. But your first paycheck buys me dinner,” I laughed.

Aside from the evening dinner appointment, my day was free. I helped He Lulu move in, then we ate together and watched a movie. Only near dusk did we part.

I drove to the Shangri-La Hotel. Tonight Lan Xinmei and the PR team were hosting Liu Yan’s agent; even as accompaniment, I had to be impeccable.

After parking, I straightened my suit and stepped out.

Lan Xinmei called the moment I arrived, saying she waited in the lobby.

Inside the revolving glass doors, I spotted her immediately.

Tonight she wore an elegant blue business suit. As head of advertising, she was not only stunning but impeccably dressed. She waved me over.

“Manager Lan, how is everything?” I asked, taking the seat beside her.

“Miss Liu Yan’s agent hasn’t arrived yet. We call her Sister Gao; she controls all of Liu Yan’s schedules,” Lan Xinmei explained quickly.

“Understood.” Though I was only here to accompany them, I needed to know the key players.

“Manager Yu from PR is already in the private room. He’ll lead negotiations tonight. The company takes this endorsement very seriously,” she continued.

“Then why isn’t Director Wang here?” I frowned.

If it’s so important, the boss should be present.

“Director Wang and Secretary Zhao flew out this afternoon to inspect a project. He asked us to handle it,” Lan Xinmei replied with an awkward smile.

Inspect a project, my foot. Those two are off having their affair again.

I sneered inwardly but said nothing. Lan Xinmei surely knew the truth yet pretended otherwise.

While we chatted, several figures hurried toward us. Lan Xinmei stood at once.

“Manager Lan, quick—outside! Not only Sister Gao is coming; Miss Liu Yan herself suddenly became free and is heading here now!” Manager Yu from PR rushed over with two young assistants.

Even hotel security and the lobby manager were buzzing on their walkie-talkies.

“Supervisor Lin, let’s greet them at the entrance,” Lan Xinmei said urgently.
