Chapter 36: D!e with Me (part 2)

“…I’m sorry. I think it will be difficult to receive such gifts.”

“Don’t say such foolish things, Julius. Are you just a vain man, satisfied with a doll he had merely glued together? If you don’t like Erman, I will do my best to proceed with the plan myself.”

The angel seemed a little nervous and quickly moved her tongue.

However, Julius, who had already made up his mind, slowly shook his head.

“Because I am a loving husband. My wife is worried, so I can’t stay out late.”

“Why are you saying that? Don’t you know that throwing it away is the right answer? Do you really think choosing this miserable future is the best option?”

“…I guess I was a man with a small mind after all. I just can’t leave this woman alone.” Said the inquisitor as he looked down at the brown-haired woman in his arms, her face hidden from view.  Then he slowly stroked the heads of Lionelta and Nirhil.

Looking at him, weakly choosing the devil in the end, Lionelta clicked her tongue softly.

He resembled Tapnel, and even though she had expected him to possess deep affection, now it seemed that it had gone too far than that.

Realizing her plan had gone awry, the Angel of Death lowered her head in sorrow.

She had thought Julius would give up on his own, but it seemed he was completely enamoured by the Emperor’s Nightmare.

His blonde hair shimmered softly, reminiscent of Tapnel.

Lionelta, staring at the back of Julius’ head, began to weave mana and divine power into her small, pale hands.

If a problem arose, the most reasonable solution was to eliminate the cause.

Recalling Nirhil’s words from long ago, the Angel of Death smiled leisurely once more.

There was no harm in trying.

If that shell was the problem, all she had to do was shatter Cecil’s body—the woman he loved.

A secret visitation from death, one that could deceive even the senses of high-ranking devils.

The immense power of Lionelta, the Angel of Death, manifested in her masterful hands.

It was black yet pure white.

Mana and divine power constantly struggled to devour each other.

The opposing forces waged a silent war, even consuming their own energy, until they began distorting the very fabric of space.

It was the power of death—[Void].

Lionelta, gazing at the concentrated mass of magic and divinity, extended her hand toward Julius and his wife with an indifferent expression and exhaled lightly.

—A breath.

With that simple breath, the black and white mass surged with power.

A subversive force, threatening to consume even the air itself.

Julius, belatedly realizing the hidden power that sought to tear Cecil apart, turned back indifferently.

“…That doesn’t seem very pleasant.”

‘Lionelta…’

Understanding the angel’s intent, Julius’ expression twisted with fury, resembling that of a demon. White flames flickered to life at the feet of the Heretic Inquisitor, who had cast aside even his honor.

“…No one can lay a hand on my wife in front of me.”

Fearing she might be hurt, Julius gently released Cecil from his embrace. Then, he began to draw forth the power that resided within his heart.

The pure white flames of the Heretic Inquisitor, once unremarkable, slowly transformed. Taking on a heavenly radiance, the flames turned golden, erupting explosively from Julius’ body.

The immense power that once made the angel of faith the strongest now radiated from him.

He took a single, deliberate step toward Death, who persistently sought Cecil’s body.

—Tak.

A soundless footstep.

Yet what followed was nothing short of the second coming of the Holy Age.

The flames of Tapnel exploded in all directions, consuming the power Lionelta had scattered through the air.

Amidst the blazing inferno, Julius displayed his divine mastery, ensuring not a single flame touched his wife.

To escape the golden fire, Lionelta swiftly spread her wings and took to the sky. A cold sweat formed on her brow as she shook her head, exasperated.

“Really, it’s no wonder they say setting fires is your specialty.”

“…an insult after the surprise attack? Who would have thought that the Angel of Death, one of the pillars of heaven, would be so cowardly?”

Amidst the golden flames threatening to consume all of Aran, Julius raised his eyes arrogantly and sneered at the angels soaring in the sky.

After listening to the Inquisitor’s words, Lionelta, who had already made up her mind, shrugged as if conceding defeat and shouted at him.

“There’s nothing we can do. Sometimes, you have to use cowardly methods, because it’s almost impossible to defeat you head-on. So, let’s end today’s meeting. Next time, I’ll bring a real gift, not just words.”

“I rather hope you don’t.”

“If you receive that gift, I’m sure you’ll be happy. I’ll wrap it up carefully and return soon.”

In no time, the heavenly angel, with three pairs of large wings fully spread, smiled and bid farewell to Julius.

Julius frowned at that obnoxious display, yanked the dagger from his hand with irritation, and summoned his flames once more.

“Do you think you can escape just by fluttering in the air? Since I’ve already decided to cause an incident, I might as well burn an angel today.”

“You speak so beautifully—anyone would think you were a disciple of Brukin and Priestess Emily. But are you sure you should keep looking at me? You’re having a sad conversation with a woman when your beloved wife is right there. I feel sorry for your wife.”

Understanding the angel’s words, Julius was stunned and quickly turned his head toward Cecil, who stood beside him.

‘Could this be another trick?’

Julius turned his head nervously.

In front of him, his lovely wife, her face now clean, gazed at him with a charming expression.

“Cecil, I still have something to say to Lady Lionelta, so step aside for now.”

Looking at Julius, who was clearly worried about her well-being, the devil with a bright smile moved her small lips and spoke.

“… Julius, I’m so sad right now. How dare you look at that b*tch when I’m right here? You’re actually thinking of leaving me?”

‘I feel so sad I could cry.

I feel like my heart is about to break.

It feels like you’re disappearing somewhere.’

“Just look at me. Please, don’t think about other women.”

‘If you can’t do that, then at least die with me.’

“…What did you do?”

At the sight of her unusual aura, a drop of cold sweat rolled down Julius’ cheek.

Lionelta, who was watching Cecil from above with her wings spread wide, twitched the corner of her mouth and sneered at the bewildered inquisitor.

“You should have let her stab her own heart. How many times do I have to tell you that she is not your loving wife?”

‘Well, if this much chaos is enough to shake him, I suppose it can be considered a partial success.’  The Angel of Death clutched her stomach and laughed.

Meanwhile, Erman’s daughter, who was watching both the angel and Julius, smiled softly—like an angel—and whispered in a lovely voice.

“Devour. Me, Julius… and my hateful sister, Lionelta.”

Colossal Serpent.

It shatters the earth and coils around mountains.

Colossal Serpent, a massive serpent said to be able to swallow the world.

Colossal Serpent, the ancient monster who took on the body of Liliana Aran and secretly hid her enormous form throughout history, had now emerged into the present world—devouring even time itself at the call of the legendary devil.

A black serpent tore apart the earth of Aran, devouring everything in its path.

Julius, staring at the monstrous maw, reached out his hand and looked at his wife, who was laughing maniacally before him.

“Cecil!”

BOOM!

A slender woman wielding explosive mana, the strongest heretic inquisitor, and the Angel of Death soaring in the sky were swallowed whole.

A thunderous roar shook the earth.

There was no response from his beloved wife.
