Chapter 38: Manager Lin

“Okay.” Manager Yu nodded immediately.

Soon, I received Manager Yu’s quote for Liu Yan’s endorsement. This price was two million more than the quote from last night, since I had already looked into the follow-up to last night’s quote.

“Manager Lin, I just checked, Ms. Liu Yan will be at the Shanghai Film City for the next two days,” a young woman from the public relations department said hurriedly.

“Okay.” I nodded.

“Manager Lin, what can I do for you?” Lan Xinmei asked anxiously.

Lan Xinmei was in the advertising department. Basically, only after the company’s public relations department successfully negotiated a cooperation would their advertising copywriting and filming begin. Although nothing was finalized yet, preparation was necessary.

“Based on the assumption that Ms. Liu Yan will definitely endorse our clothing brand, we need to select locations and filming sites in advance, and think about the theme of the shoot,” I said after a moment’s thought.

“Okay.” Lan Xinmei quickly agreed. Leaving the meeting room, I hurried out of the company and drove towards the Shanghai Film Studio.

No matter what, I wasn’t going to waste time. I wasn’t going to just hold a title and wait around. Rather than asking someone else to do it, I’d rather do it myself.

The Shanghai Film Studio is located in a suburban town. It’s not only a tourist attraction but also a filming location for many celebrities, somewhat similar to Hengdian World Studios.

Since I had met Liu Yan briefly last night, I felt it was best to discuss the advertising deal with her in person. Perhaps I could get a feel for the company’s pricing and find out their quote. That way, I could be more certain. I couldn’t very well ask the company directly about their pricing; that would be too absurd.

I arrived at the Shanghai Film Studio around noon. After parking the car, I bought a ticket and sneaked in, pretending to be a tourist.

I saw a large group of people gathered in front of an old-fashioned Western-style building. Several filming equipment sets were set up around it, and film crew members were also seated there.

As I got closer, I saw Liu Yan.

Today, Liu Yan was dressed in a leather jacket and pants, looking like she was playing a spy. She held a pistol, suspended by wires. At the director’s shout, she was launched into the air, then spun around and fired several shots, causing several extras to fall to the ground.

“Cut!”

A shout rang out, and Liu Yan slowly descended. When her feet touched the ground, she raised her delicate hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead.

It must be said that this leather outfit made Liu Yan look unusually dashing.

Standing in the crowd, like the other tourists, I was kept separate by several security guards, clearly not allowed to disturb the film crew.

However, just as Liu Yan sat down to touch up her makeup, she inadvertently looked up and happened to see me.

Our eyes met, and I quickly gave an awkward smile, waving the documents in my hand and glancing back and forth.

Liu Yan seemed surprised to see me there. She whispered a few words to a staff member beside her, who immediately walked over to me.

“Let this person in,” the staff member said hurriedly.

Upon hearing this, the tourists beside me looked surprised, but I felt a warmth in my heart. After the security guard let me through, I naturally walked up to Liu Yan.

“Mr. Lin Nan, what’s wrong? Didn’t you say the quote would go directly to my agent?” Liu Yan asked with a faint smile.

As Liu Yan spoke, the young woman who was doing her makeup also glanced at me. As for Sister Gao, she was clearly no longer with Liu Yan.

“Ms. Liu Yan, I think it’s more appropriate to talk to you in person,” I said with an awkward smile.

“Oh? Why?” Liu Yan asked quickly.

Up close, I finally understood just how voluptuous Liu Yan was. She seemed more magnificent than any woman I’d ever seen; I doubt I could even encircle her with one hand. Of course, besides that, her figure was also incredibly curvaceous. But despite these thoughts, I still spoke earnestly: “Ms. Liu Yan, our company highly values this endorsement deal. So, to let you know our sincerity, we’ve increased your offer by one million compared to other companies.”

“Oh?” Liu Yan frowned, but then grinned. “Mr. Lin, you’re quite the smooth talker. I understand your real purpose for coming today.”

The one million more than other companies was because I didn’t know their offers, but I hadn’t expected Liu Yan to notice my little scheme.

My face flushed slightly. I scratched the back of my head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

“Yadie’s offer is fifteen million, so I’ll assume your company’s is sixteen million. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely choose your company for this endorsement.” Liu Yan smiled.

“Okay, thank you, Ms. Liu Yan.” I was overjoyed.

“Then remember to send the quote to Sister Gao. I’m quite busy here and don’t have much to offer you.” Liu Yan slowly stood up, and then the crew put her back on the wires, clearly indicating there were still a few scenes to film.

Leaving the Shanghai Film City, I was overjoyed. Damn, I finally got it! I really didn’t expect this trip to see Liu Yan to go so smoothly.

Back at the company, I instructed Manager Yu to prepare a 16 million yuan endorsement quote and sent it directly to Liu Yan’s agent, Sister Gao.

Although a 16 million yuan endorsement fee made me, a newbie, feel that celebrities make money very quickly, I also knew that’s how the market works.

“Supervisor Lin, are you confident?” Manager Yu asked me with interest that afternoon when he had tea with me.

“Just wait and see.” I grinned.

Seeing me say that, Manager Yu gave me a thoughtful look, but later, when Sister Gao called to say that the endorsement was finalized, Manager Yu looked at me like I was an idol.

Throughout the afternoon, news of Liu Yan becoming the spokesperson for our Daifen brand spread like wildfire throughout the company. Everyone knew that I had secured this endorsement deal, and even Director Wang had called an emergency meeting.

At the meeting, Director Wang praised me highly and instructed the advertising department to coordinate with Ms. Liu Yan’s schedule and immediately begin filming the advertisement. As for signing the contract, he planned to go with me to see Sister Gao.

Just after I secured the endorsement contract, Director Wang patted me on the shoulder: “Xiao Lin, I’m issuing the appointment letter today. The position of deputy sales manager is yours starting tomorrow!”

“Thank you, Director Wang,” I said with a smile.

“Also, I need to inform Manager Sun about this first; it’s always better to give her a heads-up beforehand,” Director Wang continued.

“Okay,” I nodded quickly.

Before leaving get off work, I arrived at the sales department. At that moment, I felt like a victorious general returning from a battle.

Zhang Tingmei and Liu Xue immediately gathered around me, and Sun Dan, upon seeing me, exclaimed, “Supervisor Lin, oh no, I should call you Manager Lin now!”

“Manager Lin?”

“Huh?”

Zhang Tingmei and Liu Xue exchanged incredulous glances, while the other sales staff looked at me in shock.
