Chapter 38: Nonsense VI (part 2)

Is this what it feels like to have blood flowing through a tin doll?

Talking to him, who had treated her like nothing, made her feel like a normal girl too.

She was happy.

For the first time in her life, she experienced the joy of being with others. The time she spent with him shone so brightly that it seemed to cast a light. Unknowingly, she made a promise to herself to be with him again, to experience that joy once more.

And then—

“…ah.”

She opened her eyes.

Consciousness slowly returned. When she came to her senses, Bianca realized she had fallen asleep in the bath. After the events of the day, she had succumbed to the rush of drowsiness.

“Lady, are you awake?”

The lady-in-waiting attending to her bath politely inquired.

“Yeah, I guess I fell asleep.”

Observing Bianca’s expression as she answered, the lady-in-waiting spoke hesitantly.

“Did you have a good dream? You look pleased.”

“You think my expression looks good?”

“Yes.”

At the lady-in-waiting’s response, Bianca unconsciously touched her face. She felt a faint smile grace her lips.

“Okay. If you think I had a good dream, then I must have.”

With that, Bianca rose from the bath.

Her body, bare and exposed, was revealed. From her long, sleek legs to her slim waist and voluptuous breasts, she resembled a masterpiece crafted by a skilled sculptor.

Even the lady-in-waiting, though familiar with such beauty, could only stare blankly at Bianca’s enchanting form.

“Why are you just standing there? Hurry up and dry me.”

“Ah, yes. I’m sorry, My Lady.”

At Bianca’s words, the maid quickly came to her senses and retrieved a towel.

Although Bianca noted the maid’s momentary lapse, she chose to be generous, not wanting to dwell on such trivial matters today.

Earlier, Cain had come forward and hugged her tightly.

“Heehh.”

The embrace with him was as wonderful as she had imagined—no, much better. His embrace was wide and comforting.

Bianca was certain that being in his arms had provided her with the greatest happiness possible, unmatched by any other woman in the world.

“Ah, come to think of it…”

As she thought about the hug, something she had not wanted to consider came to mind. The face of the white-haired girl who had gotten off Cain’s carriage with him flashed through her memory.

“…..”

At first, she had not noticed.

The faces were subtly different. The white-haired girl’s face was much younger and more immature than the one Bianca knew. However, the essence was the same.

Bianca, having received the ‘blessing of mana’ and being able to see through the essence of others, easily recognized the white-haired girl as the ‘Witch of Winter ’.

However, for now, she was nothing more than a little girl.

How could this happen? Why was someone like that attached to Cain’s side?

Did Cain know that what he had gathered around him was the very disaster that could drive him to ruin in the future?

The moment she realized this, Bianca’s heart sank deeply. Although she wore the guise of a young girl, she was, in fact, an evil presence that could harm the continent if she lived.

If she had not been embraced by Cain, Bianca might have considered killing the white-haired girl.

Perhaps…as if sensing her feelings, Cain had quietly introduced Bianca to the white-haired girl.

“Her name is Aria. She is my exclusive lady-in-waiting and also the exclusive magician of the Duchy of Estel. Please treat her as a guest of the Marquis of Castana, Bianca.”

“Aria. The name of the goddess of winter.”

Did he know? Had he given it to her without realizing it?

Of course, there was no way Cain knew and chose that name intentionally, but Bianca couldn’t hide the thought that it fit remarkably well, even if by coincidence.

In the end, Bianca could not bring herself to harm the girl. It was Cain’s first ‘request’ to her. How could she reject his request?

Besides, Aria was too insignificant to be called the future ‘Witch of Winter’.

Ten years in the future, the grandeur of the absolute she had to face after joining forces with the Princess, the Saintess, and Kyrie had faded. And the girl named Aria was nothing more than a dusty existence, far from the power of the ‘Witch of Winter’ in her prime.

So, she chose not to kill her.

If she had made up her mind to kill, it would have been the same as squashing a bug. Rather than worrying about such matters now, it was far more important to create even one more memory with him.

Bianca wished for them to break away from their sham engagement and treat each other sincerely. She hoped they would overlook the deep-rooted antagonism between Estelle and Castana and come to truly love each other.

If she wanted that to happen for real, he would not need to be ‘convinced’.

“Please, Cain. Please.”

‘Love me, look at me, not other girls. Help me so that my feelings do not waver. I’ll give you my all, and you’ll give me yours too.’

‘So please. Please…’

Shouting in her heart, Bianca lightly caressed the bracelet she wore on her right wrist. She sincerely hoped that the end of this story would be a happy one.
