Chapter 49: Nonsense XVII (part 2)

Due to the vicious energy contained within it, everything around it was torn to pieces.

Squeak—

But at that moment, Cain’s figure disappeared inside the ceremony hall.

Even Joshua, who had been blown away by the force, hesitated for a moment and stopped his sword.

And—suddenly. Behind Joshua, Cain suddenly ‘appeared.’

When Joshua sensed his presence, it was a step too late.

The Flowing Star activated. The flow of power concentrated in both of his hands was a mighty force far exceeding several times his normal physical strength.

Wood-deok!

Cain gripped Joshua’s right hand with both hands and twisted it vigorously. The ghastly sound of bones being twisted resonated in the air. In response to the intense pain, Joshua could not endure and dropped his sword.

Cain’s eyes sparkled and shone. The opponent was disarmed. No matter how you looked at it, this was an opportunity.

“Cain, back!”

But that was then.

Bianca’s urgent voice was heard from the other side.

In an instant, Cain unknowingly flung his body to the side.

And—

Quaang!

An explosion occurred where Cain had been a second before. He hurriedly turned his head. On the other side, a middle-aged man holding a staff must have been the one who cast the magic.

‘Was that b*stard also a traitor?’

Taking advantage of the momentary lull, he quickly turned left and right to see Cain, Bianca, and the half-circular barrier surrounding them. Only then did he realize that even if others wanted to help, it was impossible. If there was one comforting fact, it was that the middle-aged man couldn’t use proper magic to maintain this barrier.

‘What is the Marquis of Castana doing?’

Cain gritted his teeth unconsciously. But now he realized that no matter what he resented, it meant nothing.

First of all, surviving from their hands was the priority task.

Swoop!

Joshua picked up the sword with his intact left hand. Considering that his posture of holding the sword was very natural, it must mean he was either ambidextrous or had practiced wielding the sword with his left hand. However, it was a definite fact that his power had greatly decreased.

Fight!

For the first time since the battle began, Cain lunged at Joshua.

Watching Cain rush toward him, Joshua let his b1ool boil. Something dripping from his sword began to rise.

It wasn’t Aura. However, Joshua was strengthening his swordsmanship through some means. Seeing that, Cain raised his level of vigilance one step higher.

The distance between them quickly shortened. Joshua came swinging his sword. His target was Cain’s stomach. However, in an instant, Cain’s hand moved like a picture. His hand, strengthened by the ‘Flowing Star,’ possessed strength equivalent to that of a moderate amount of steel, albeit only for a moment.

“Kuk!”

However, Cain felt a tingling pain in his hand whenever it clashed with Joshua’s sword. Although he imitated the Princess, he once again realized that his Flowing Star was far inferior to her skill level.

Kwajijik!

Even though the Flowing Star killed the momentum as much as possible, Joshua’s sword eventually crushed Cain’s nails. In an instant, Cain’s brow twisted in pain. It was a very fleeting moment, but his hand, focused on defense, showed a gap.

Without missing the timing, Joshua’s sword rushed at Cain’s neck. The sword flew at a speed that far exceeded the previous speed. Joy filled Joshua’s eyes, with this distance and this posture, the enemy would never be able to avoid the sword!

And that was Joshua’s decisive defeat.

Crrreeng!

Cain stretched out his hand.

Joshua’s sword, which had been flying toward Cain’s neck at a threatening speed, bounced off to another place at an astonishing speed. It was surprisingly natural to see a sword stabbed in a straight line, only to have its trajectory bend in a different direction—it was bizarre.

But that didn’t mean that Cain was safe. Both of his hands were already bloody. As a result of using the Flowing Star in an unreasonable posture, all the veins in both hands burst due to the flow of power he could not relieve.

But, ignoring all such trivial things, he swung his fist at Joshua!

It was then.

“Cain!”

Bianca’s cry was heard again.

Turning his head, Cain saw that the middle-aged man who had maintained the barrier sending a lightning bolt aimed at his defenseless back. By this point it was too late to avoid it.

Bianca involuntarily closed her eyes to the horrors that would unfold.

However, a scene that everyone in that place could never have imagined unfolded.

Skreeet—

The electric shocks that had apparently been fired at Cain’s torso gathered in his left arm. Under Cain’s control, the golden thunderbolt that wrapped around his left arm showed a docile attitude as if it had recognized him as its new owner.

“What was it…ah…a guy who surprises me once can’t do it twice?”

Trying to ignore the pain of his left hand being burned by the thunderbolt, Cain smiled cheerfully. Cain’s left hand hit Joshua’s chest directly.

Skreeeth!

“Quaagh!”

The power condensed by the Flowing Stars, combined with the added power of the thunderbolt, caused an explosion inside Joshua’s body.

Joshua let out an unsightly scream and was thrown against the wall of the banquet hall.

“Huh…”

That was Joshua’s last dying words. The man’s eyes rolled over and then slowly closed.

“…..”

There was only silence in the hall.

Cain’s panting breath was the only sound that filled the place. When he glanced around, he saw the mages belonging to House Castana surrounding the middle-aged man who was spreading the barrier.

Then, Cain patted the back of Aria, who had run close to support him, and lamented in a faint voice.

“Now they have the time to come, da*mn it…”
