Chapter 56: A Heart-Stirring Ki$s

Faced with the accusations of those around her, Zuo Si did not refute them.

Ding Ruxiao wanted to help Shen Xiujuan up but was stopped by him.

“What’s wrong with you?” Ding Ruxiao looked at Zuo Si in surprise, feeling that Zuo Si seemed very strange at that moment.

“It’s nothing, don’t touch her,” Zuo Si whispered, appearing somewhat neurotic, but it was entirely for Ding Ruxiao’s safety.

Several young men had already helped Shen Xiujuan to her feet and were inquiring about her injuries.

“Cough, cough, cough.” Shen Xiujuan patted her dry arm against her back and smiled faintly, “I’m fine, I’m fine. He didn’t mean it, heh heh heh, really, thank you all for your trouble.”

“Grandma, how can you still speak up for him after he treated you like this?”

“It’s fine, it’s fine. I accidentally fell by myself; it has nothing to do with him.”

Shen Xiujuan was very kind and showed no sign of blaming Zuo Si.

At this moment, Zuo Si had to step in and say a few words. Even though he knew that Shen Xiujuan had deliberately touched Ding Ruxiao’s face earlier, he still needed to apologize to her. After all, this was in front of his haunted house, and if it left a bad impression on the guests, it might affect future business.

“Grandma Shen, I’m sorry. It was really an accident just now. Do you want to go to the hospital for a check-up?”

Zuo Si’s attitude was very sincere, and he genuinely wanted to take Shen Xiujuan to the hospital. With so much medical equipment around, it should be possible to see if she was alright.

“No need, no need, I’m fine.” Shen Xiujuan flatly refused, then looked at the young men who were supporting her: “You must be hungry, let me make you some pancakes!”

“No need, Grandma, don’t tire yourself out.”

“It’s fine, I’m very strong!”

Ignoring the others’ advice, Shen Xiujuan began to make pancakes. The skilled movements she displayed were not something that could be mastered overnight.

Zuo Si couldn’t help but mutter to himself, “Am I being too neurotic? Is this old lady just an ordinary person? Although her behavior is a bit strange, it seems she hasn’t done anything bad to me.”

Thinking this, Zuo Si secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Recently, he had encountered too many bizarre incidents, making him overly suspicious.

The pancakes were ready. The young men were enjoying the pancakes made by Shen Xiujuan, and the enticing aroma made Zuo Si’s mouth water. However, he ultimately restrained himself from eating. He really didn’t know what spices she used to make them smell so good.

After selling the pancakes, Shen Xiujuan left with a smile. Before she departed, she turned back to Zuo Si and said, “Young man, don’t get into random cars late at night; it could lead to trouble, heh heh heh!”

Her eerie laughter sent a chill down Zuo Si’s spine, and he retracted his earlier thoughts.

“Mr. Zuo, you have a package!”

Just as Shen Xiujuan left, a delivery arrived. After Zuo Si stepped forward to sign for it, he did not open it immediately.

It was very likely that this package contained items sent by Ge Hong, who was in that line of work. If he opened it and found some bizarre things inside, it would be quite embarrassing.

As the sky gradually darkened, the visitors began to leave, and the amusement park was about to close.

Zuo Si glanced at the total revenue; today’s total income was thirteen hundred yuan, even with the ticket price halved. Adding Xue Wu’s one thousand, the total earnings for today were two thousand three hundred yuan. If there were more scenes in the future, it was likely to earn even more.

However, Huaxing Haunted House had a significant weakness: the number of paying visitors was small. He feared that if they added more horror scenes, there wouldn’t be enough of a visitor base.

“The most urgent thing now is to raise the haunted house’s profile.”

Regarding this, aside from live-streaming promotions, Zuo Si had no better methods.

While cleaning, Zuo Si took advantage of Ding Ruxiao’s absence to open the package.

He focused his gaze and saw that it was a red T-shirt, the same one that Ge Hong wore.

As he was examining it, he suddenly heard footsteps—Ding Ruxiao was back.

Zuo Si hurriedly folded the T-shirt and stuffed it into the large pocket of his windbreaker. He felt a chill run down his spine, thinking, “Thank goodness she didn’t find out. If Ding Ruxiao saw me holding a worn women’s T-shirt, she would definitely scold me for being a pervert.”

“The inside is already cleaned up; let’s go eat,” Ding Ruxiao said, looking quite pleased. She hadn’t expected so many tourists on the first day.

“Sure.” Zuo Si and Ding Ruxiao arrived at a Western restaurant. The prices here were relatively high, but it was rare for Zuo Si to be in such a good mood today. Most importantly, the romantic atmosphere here was suitable for nurturing their feelings.

They ordered five servings of steak in total; Ding Ruxiao ate little and only ordered one. The rest were all for Zuo Si, who hadn’t had a proper meal all day and intended to make up for it tonight. Since he didn’t plan to complete the one-and-a-half-star daily task tonight, Zuo Si felt particularly relaxed.

“Boss, it seems you haven’t discussed my salary yet?” Ding Ruxiao swirled her wine glass, and under the light, she looked so charming and alluring, her lightly parted fiery red lips igniting a flame in Zuo Si’s heart.

“You, ah~ you don’t have a salary!” Zuo Si pretended to be serious, nodding as he stuffed a large piece of juicy steak into his mouth.

“Impressive.” Ding Ruxiao smiled, staring at him: “You dare to joke with me now? You’re not that shy little v!rgin who would blush at the sight of me anymore?”

“Poof!” Zuo Si almost choked, feigning calmness as he whispered, “Who, who said I was a v!rgin?”

“Mm~ still shy, it seems you haven’t changed~”

“Aren’t you afraid I really won’t pay you?”

“Not afraid, you wouldn’t dare!” Ding Ruxiao playfully winked at Zuo Si, and he instantly felt a shiver run through him, as if he had been electrocuted.

“You really don’t have a salary.” Zuo Si wiped his mouth: “However, half of the net profit from our haunted house belongs to you.”

“What did you say?” Ding Ruxiao looked unusually surprised.

“I said half of the net profit from our haunted house is yours~”

In times of crisis, it was Ding Ruxiao who lent him one hundred thousand yuan. Without her, Zuo Si would never have been able to buy the Huaxing Haunted House, and even his survival would have been in question.

A drop of kindness should be repaid with a fountain of gratitude!

In Zuo Si’s view, even giving most of the haunted house’s profits to Ding Ruxiao would not be too much, let alone just fifty percent.

“Are you serious?” Ding Ruxiao was not someone who liked to be overly sentimental; if Zuo Si insisted, she wouldn’t refuse.

“Serious, you will be the lady boss of our haunted house from now on!” Zuo Si raised his wine glass: “Come, let’s toast to our future business flourishing!”

The two of them downed their glasses of red wine in one go.

Ding Ruxiao beckoned Zuo Si closer with her finger.

“Come here, I want to tell you something.”

Ding Ruxiao’s seductive gaze made Zuo Si feel a sense of haziness. He stood up, dazed, and leaned in closer.

Her sensual red lips parted slightly, ki$sing Zuo Si’s cheek.

A tingling sensation instantly spread throughout his body. Could this be the feeling of love?
