Chapter 59: Spicy Beef Slices

Zhang Yu and the Fatty both looked at me with glee when they saw that it was Sister Qian who called me. They patted my shoulder and said in unison, “Brother, take care!” Then they quickly left, leaving me alone at the spot.

Fortunately, Sister Qian was nice to me; otherwise, I’d have given those ungrateful guys a good scolding.

“Sister Qian, what’s up?” I turned around and asked her.

Sister Qian glanced at Zhang Yu and the Fatty who had already run off and said, “I heard from the teacher that you’ve been performing well in the last few classes, so I’m rewarding you!”

After so many years of school, it was the first time I felt that teachers were truly kind—really kind! It’s not easy to get a compliment from them.

“What’s the reward?” I asked as we walked.

Sister Qian smiled and asked back, “What kind of reward do you want?”

“A kiss will do!” This person shouldn’t be too excited; excitement often leads to making silly decisions. And here I am, making a fool of myself again—what a way to get into trouble!

As expected, Sister Qian gave me a light smack on the head upon hearing this: “You brat, getting bolder and even daring to tease your sister!”

“It was just a slip of the tongue, just a slip!” I rubbed my head and explained to Sister Qian.

Sister Qian looked at me with a hint of helplessness and said, “Seriously, what kind of prize do you want?”

“How about a meal out?” After thinking it over, I couldn’t really decide what I wanted as a reward. Besides, someone once said that what you blurt out is often the truth. Since my real wish might not come true, I’ll settle for the next best thing.

“Perfect timing; it’s lunchtime.” Sister Qian thought for a moment and then said, “After the meal, we can hang out a bit. It’s decided then. I’ll go get the car now. Wait for me at the school gate!”

“Alright!” I nodded. Sister Qian went off to get the car while I headed to the school gate. However, as soon as I stood there, the security guard came out.

The security guard, with a stern face, looked at me and said, “What, trying to sneak out again?”

Our school has two security guards who alternate shifts daily. Unfortunately, the guard on duty today was the one who had seen me sneak out before.

“No, I’m waiting for someone!” I quickly explained.

To my dismay, the guard’s response almost made me spit blood. He gave me a disappointed look and said, “If you’re not sneaking out, what are you doing here? I was hoping to see how I looked back in my younger days!” Then he went back into the guard room.

I was baffled by this person!

After a while, Sister Qian drove up. The guard quickly opened the electronic gate when he saw the car.

“Get in!” Sister Qian waved to me. I got into the car.

As the car passed by the guard, he muttered with a smile, “This kid is just like I was back in the day, even daring to chase after teachers!”

I heard it, and Sister Qian did too. Instantly, I felt the atmosphere in the car turn tense. In this situation, I could only stay silent, afraid of being caught in the crossfire.

“Hmph!” Sister Qian shot a glare at the guard, who quickly ducked back into the guard room. I couldn’t help but wonder if this guy was really that impressive in his younger days.

“What do you want to eat?” Sister Qian asked as she drove.

I thought about it and realized I didn’t really dislike any food, so I said, “Anything is fine.”

“There’s a new KFD nearby; how about we try it?” Sister Qian suggested tentatively.

Hearing this, I was speechless. Why is it that whenever a woman is involved, KFD is always the go-to? Haven’t they heard of MkDonald’s or P!zza Hut?

I quickly shook my head. Although I liked the cola there, fast food gets bland after a while.

“What do you want to eat then?” Sister Qian asked, looking at me.

I really couldn’t think of anything, so I answered, “Anything.”

“Have you watched too many jokes and are trying to mess with me?” Sister Qian was getting a bit annoyed. I hurriedly explained, “No! I…”

“Then tell me what you want to eat.” Sister Qian interrupted before I could finish explaining.

I looked up and said calmly, “Anything…”

In the end, Sister Qian decided on a Sichuan restaurant for the meal, but the cost was that my right ear received a thorough 361-degree twist. It felt quite nice, but a bit painful…

Of course, I wasn’t going to just take this lying down, so I ordered a lot of dishes: spicy chicken cubes, fish-flavored shredded pork, boiled beef, and shrimp and winter melon soup.

“Do you think we can finish all this?” Sister Qian looked at me.

I patted my stomach and said confidently, “With a big stomach, no problem!”

“Would you like anything else, sir?” the waiter asked kindly.

“No thanks!” I waved him away.

Just as the waiter was leaving, I called him back because I suddenly noticed a dish with an ambiguous name.

I told the waiter, “Another serving of ‘Spicy Beef Slices’!” (G: Fuqi Feipian is also often called “husband and wife lung pieces.”)

Sister Qian, who was sipping tea, immediately spat it out and stared at me with wide eyes, “Really!”

“Didn’t you say a big stomach can handle it? Keep going!” Sister Qian looked at me playfully, and I said with a long face, “Sister, you’re my real sister, just let me off!”

I originally wanted to take full advantage of Sister Qian, but I didn’t expect to get caught up in my own words. A casual remark ended up with me having to finish all the dishes. But with so much food on the table, I clearly couldn’t finish it! However, for the sake of my manly dignity, I kept eating, bite by bite. In the end, I still couldn’t finish it, but Sister Qian insisted I eat it all. Isn’t this setting me up for failure?

“Don’t try to get out of it. Keep eating. We won’t leave until you finish, and don’t forget how I usually teach you,” Sister Qian said firmly, “Don’t waste food!”

I gritted my teeth and said, “Fine! I’ll eat!” Then I switched tactics and said, “Sister, remember to bring some paper money to my grave next year on this day!”

But Sister Qian remained unmoved. I tried to squeeze out tears, but couldn’t, so I had to keep the act up. I looked up at the ceiling and recited, “The wind is bleak, and the river is cold, the warrior departs…”

“Alright! No more eating!” Sister Qian smiled, tapped my head, and said with resignation.

Hearing this, I finally relaxed, rubbing my belly and saying, “I’m stuffed!”

Since we got out of school early today, there was still plenty of time after the meal.

“What do you want to do next?” Sister Qian asked, turning to me. Before I could respond, she said, “Let’s go to the amusement park!” Then she started the car.

Damn! Was she even asking for my opinion?
