Although it wasn’t the weekend, the amusement park was still crowded. I couldn’t quite understand why people came to play in such hot weather.
We bought two all-day passes and followed Sister Qian around. Since she brought me here to have fun, everything depended on her preferences, although she always asked me what I wanted to do.
“Xia Tian, how about we ride the roller coaster?”
“Isn’t that a bit dangerous…?”
“Let’s go!”
“The carousel is nice too!”
“That’s for kids…”
“Come on, let’s relive our childhood together!”
“How about the Ferris wheel? You can see the whole city from up there!”
“What’s so interesting about the view…”
“Let’s go!”
Damn! Is she really asking for my opinion? I always thought Sister Qian was a very mature and sophisticated woman, but now I’m starting to think I was wrong!
“How about visiting the haunted house?” I had to make a comeback, or I’d lose all my face. Even though face can’t be eaten, it’s still something you don’t want to lose!
Sister Qian was eating the ice cream she had just bought. After thinking for a moment, she said, “Sure!”
Seeing Sister Qian agree, I was thrilled. Haha, just wait and see how I’ll scare you! I’m finally going to make a comeback!
Sister Qian and I entered the haunted house. At first, it wasn’t very scary—just some music playing from a recorder and occasional bat-shaped plush toys flying by on strings. I was disappointed. How could this be frightening? Besides fat people, I doubt anyone would be scared by this.
Sister Qian took the lead voluntarily. After walking for a while without encountering anything scary, she suddenly screamed and hugged me.
“Sis, can you… not cover my mouth? And could you move your chest a bit? I can hardly breathe. And can you get off me?” Sister Qian’s move was impressive—her legs wrapped around my waist, her arms holding my head, and her chest pressing directly on my face. One hand was pulling my mouth wide open, making it difficult for me to speak.
“Huh?” Sister Qian’s face turned red, as if she finally realized our position was too intimate. She quickly released me and moved behind me, wrapping her arms around mine.
I looked and saw that what scared Sister Qian was a human head. However, the features were so artificial that it was obviously fake—less realistic than those inflatable dolls in ads.
“It’s fake! Made of rubber!” I touched the head and said, annoyed.
Sister Qian finally relaxed and let go of the earlier incident. She then remembered what had happened.
“If you tell anyone about what happened just now, I’ll deal with you!” Sister Qian’s face was flushed with embarrassment as she tried to sound stern.
Though I didn’t quite understand what she meant, I knew better than to mess with Sister Qian, so I nodded obediently.
We continued further into the haunted house. As expected, it got scarier the deeper we went. Since Sister Qian had been scared earlier, she let me lead.
Suddenly, a white figure floated in front of us, drifting back and forth, getting closer and closer. Sister Qian got nervous again when she saw it.
“The things in the haunted house are all fake. Why are you so scared?” Normally, I should be happy seeing Sister Qian this nervous—after all, I brought her here to see her make a fool of herself. But being clutched like this was uncomfortable! If I weren’t so tough, I might have been hurt by her grip.
Just then, the white figure floated right in front of us. I pointed at it and said, “Besides, this Sadako isn’t even local. You don’t need to be afraid!”
“Ah-woo!” The Sadako let out a scream and started waving her hands. Seeing this, Sister Qian tightened her grip even more. I frowned and said to the Sadako, “Miss, just spare me. If you stay any longer, I might die from lack of air!”
The Sadako looked at Sister Qian, who was clinging to me, nodded in understanding, waved goodbye, and skated away.
“See? It’s fake! There are no ghosts in this world!” I said helplessly to Sister Qian. After these incidents, her courage grew. Whether it was artificial or someone in disguise, she wasn’t afraid anymore.
Sometimes, she even touched the actors’ faces, making them tearfully ask, “Bro, was my performance really that bad?”
I shook my head, took the actor’s hand, and said, “No, you did great!”
We were nearing the exit, and there was nothing scary left, so I urged Sister Qian to hurry. Just a few steps later, she excitedly said, “Xia Tian, look! There’s a head up ahead!”
“Oh…” I replied wearily. After spending the entire afternoon with Sister Qian, I was exhausted.
“This head looks so real and even has red dye on it!” Sister Qian pointed at the head lying on the ground.
I walked over to take a look. Indeed, it was quite realistic—eyes filled with fear, a dead look, and red paint smeared on the neck, with well-made fake flesh. I couldn’t help but touch it.
As soon as I touched it, a chill ran down my spine.
This head is real! It even had warmth, and the so-called dye on the neck had a bloody smell!
Even in a haunted house, it wouldn’t use a real head for decoration.
The head was warm, indicating it was recently dead. Since the head was here, the body must be nearby. If there is a body, my earlier suspicion must be correct.
Raising my mental power to the maximum, I found that it was even stronger than before. Without time to be surprised, I spread my mental power. Sure enough, in a nearby corner, I spotted a headless body propped up against the wall!
Damn! How could something like this happen in a haunted house? The body was still warm, meaning it had been killed not long ago. The criminal wouldn’t have gone far—perhaps nearby. I couldn’t let Sister Qian stay here any longer!
“Xia Tian, why are you in a daze? Why aren’t you saying anything?” Sister Qian, still unaware of the situation, asked me in confusion.
I quickly stood up and grabbed Sister Qian, saying, “Let’s go quickly!”
“Why?” Sister Qian, not understanding the situation, thought I was trying to take advantage of her and pulled away.
I didn’t have time to explain. I picked her up and headed towards the exit.
“What are you doing? Put me down!” Sister Qian hit my chest, signaling me to let her go. Just as I was about to explain, a figure emerged from the shadows.
The person held a bloody fruit knife and pointed it at me, saying, “It seems you’ve discovered something…”
