Chapter 78: Destroying the Sword

Tianyun City was filled with ancient architecture from this era, the previous era, and even relics from tens of thousands of years ago. Within the city stood magnificent Tianlan trees. During this season, their white orchid-like blossoms danced in the wind, exuding a mesmerizing fragrance that was refreshing and soothing.

However, at this very moment, no one had the leisure to appreciate their beauty, as a spectacular battle was unfolding.

At the center of Tianyun City, Lu Hun stood with an indifferent expression, his purple robes flowing elegantly, making him appear both noble and heroic. Above his head, a golden divine lamp emitted a faint golden glow, as if it were the only beacon of light in the darkness.

Boom!

The battle erupted. Lu Hun’s long black hair stood on end, and three treasured swords spun wildly around him. With a mighty roar, he shook the entire Tianyun City. An incomparably intense divine radiance burst from his body, illuminating the entire sky.

“Today, I will cut you down!”

Lu Hun uttered only these words, his gaze sharp, exuding boundless killing intent. The surrounding temperature plummeted, making the area feel like an enormous ice cellar. Many cultivators shuddered inwardly—such an oppressive aura was terrifying. He could even influence the surrounding air temperature! Among the younger generation, who could stand on equal footing with him?

“That is exactly what I wanted to say. Today, I will send you to join those nine!”

Tian Fan also responded coldly.

A silver lotus bloomed beneath his feet, dazzling in its beauty. Countless silver lotus leaves danced around him, emitting a faint sacred aura that spread outward with him as the center. He stepped forward, ascending into the sky.

“So beautiful…”

“So handsome…”

The area was filled with cultivators, including many female cultivators. Seeing Tian Fan’s breathtaking divine technique, they gasped in amazement, their eyes sparkling like stars.

Boom!

Silver light soared into the sky, and murderous intent surged like a vast ocean. Eighty-one silver sword beams slowly emerged in front of Tian Fan, emitting soft sword hums. The surrounding air trembled, struggling to withstand such immense power.

“Kill!”

“Kill!”

Both roared simultaneously.

Above Lu Hun’s head, his three treasured swords radiated boundless divine brilliance, producing ear-piercing sword cries. The sky itself quaked as countless clouds shattered instantly under the sheer force of the three swords.

Tianyun City trembled violently. This place was specifically designated as a battleground for life-and-death duels among the Northern Territory’s cultivators, built to be extraordinarily sturdy. Yet, at this moment, even it seemed unable to withstand the power of these two combatants.

The eighty-one silver sword beams, carrying an earth-shattering aura, clashed fiercely with the three treasured swords. A chaotic storm of energy surged wildly. In the distance, a massive stone wall was swept by the shockwaves and instantly shattered into countless fragments.

“These two are absolute monsters!”

A cultivator cursed. To be born in the same era as them was truly unfortunate. They were simply too powerful, dominating the entire younger generation of the Northern Territory, leaving others struggling for breath. Their aura was truly invincible.

Many cultivators fled to the distance, unwilling to be caught in the crossfire. If they were dragged into the battle, they wouldn’t even have a place to cry after dying.

Boom!

In the sky, the three treasured swords unleashed an overwhelming presence, sending three towering sword beams soaring to the heavens. The beams shattered countless silver sword projections, carrying an unstoppable momentum—destroying gods if they stood in the way, slaying demons if they dared to resist. The three colossal sword beams carved deep scars into the earth, leaving onlookers in shock.

“Big Brother, do you think that kid will be alright?”

Outside Tianyun City, a group of black-clad figures stood silently, emotionless as they observed the battle. Among them, the reckless Shangguan Jingyi asked this question.

“Don’t worry. He should be fine. And even if something does happen, she will definitely show up.”

Shangguan Yunfeng replied calmly, his demeanor refined and scholarly. He stood quietly, watching the battle unfold.

“Heh, Big Brother, you’re so cunning!”

Shangguan Jingyi chuckled, finally understanding why Shangguan Yunfeng hadn’t gone looking for Zi Ying but instead chose to come here and watch the fight.

The eighty-one silver sword beams gradually shattered, yet an even more terrifying aura spread across the sky. A massive silver sword beam stretched across the entire sky above Tianyun City, radiating a devastating energy wave. The buildings below trembled violently.

Boom!

The formidable silver sword beam slowly descended. Though it carried a sacred aura, the overwhelming destructive energy within it was even more apparent.

The ground beneath Lu Hun crumbled instantly, with countless cracks spreading outward like a spiderweb.

“Myriad Swords Return to Origin!”

Lu Hun roared. His three treasured swords trembled violently, and countless light swords manifested around his body, forming an unparalleled killing array. Each of these swords seemed capable of shattering the land and cutting through the heavens.

Boom!

Carrying thousands of light swords, he charged toward Tian Fan. The countless swords around him crisscrossed, slicing massive boulders apart and shaking the very fabric of space. Watching from the distance, many cultivators felt their scalps tingle.

Such an attack—such density—who could possibly withstand it? Even a mid-stage Cloud Heaven Realm cultivator would be instantly torn apart!

“Again? Do you think I’m just standing here for nothing?”

Tian Fan roared.

A golden miniature sun emerged from his forehead, radiating endless golden light. Within it, countless waves of mental power surged silently. Without a sound, the power shot forth, forming a divine consciousness array within a hundred-zhang radius.

Buzz…

At this moment, Lu Hun was in deep trouble. He had inadvertently plunged straight into the divine sense formation set up by Tian Fan. Instantly, the countless swords of light surrounding Lu Hun trembled violently, their divine radiance dimming before shattering.

“Strange, what’s happening? Why is the sword glow around Lu Hun dissipating?”

“Could it be that his divine power is running out, and he can no longer sustain such a heaven-defying divine technique!?”

Many cultivators were baffled by this scene. They could only see Lu Hun dodging in a disheveled manner, his hair in complete disarray, while the swords of light around him continued to shatter. However, they saw no sign of an external attack.

A sharp-witted cultivator reached out and grabbed a sparrow from the sky. With a flick of his wrist, he tossed it forward. A bizarre phenomenon occurred—the moment the sparrow entered the area, it let out a mournful cry before plummeting straight down. Its pupils turned a lifeless gray, a clear sign that its soul had been extinguished.

“Hiss…”

Many cultivators gasped. Such an attack was terrifying—it was completely invisible, yet it possessed the power to annihilate souls, sending chills down their spines.

“Hmph, a mere trick—break for me!”

Lu Hun let out a thunderous shout. The golden divine lamp hovering above his head radiated boundless golden light, which seeped into the surroundings thread by thread. The countless formless spiritual forces around him trembled but were ultimately dispersed.

He charged forward, wielding three treasured swords, each more formidable than the last. They moved in an incredibly eerie manner, shaking the void with every motion as an invisible pressure spread across the firmament.

Boom!

Even though Tian Fan executed his Divine Cloud Steps, he was unable to evade in time and was struck by a sword. He was sent flying, crashing through a distant city wall. Just as he struggled to stand, an even stronger divine radiance bore down on him, slamming him deep into the ground.

“As expected, the Sword Immortal Sect remains unrivaled. Even though he’s a god’s descendant, Tian Fan is only at the early Cloud Heaven stage.”

“That’s right. Sometimes, cultivation level trumps all!”

The cultivators engaged in heated discussion, and their words rang true. Even if one were the son of the Heavenly Emperor, blessed with unparalleled divine blood, if one’s cultivation was merely at the Condensed Spirit stage, they could never match a Cloud Return realm expert.

Tian Fan was no exception. Though he relied on his unique physique and the profound mysteries of the Divine Heart Mantra and the Five Elements Grand Art to battle across cultivation realms, there was still a limit. Facing a supreme powerhouse at the peak of the Cloud Heaven stage, he was under immense pressure.

“Fighting a peak-stage opponent while still in the early Cloud Heaven stage—losing wouldn’t be shameful at all!”

“Exactly, especially when his opponent is from the Sword Immortal Sect and possesses earth-shattering divine arts!”

The crowd below continued their discussions. Tian Fan had dominated the younger generation of the Northern Region with his early Cloud Heaven cultivation, slaying numerous formidable foes, including several at the mid-stage of Cloud Heaven. Such strength was undoubtedly worthy of pride.

Boom!

Just as the discussions continued, a figure in white shot out from the depths of the ground, shattering countless layers of earth. His hair was disheveled, and a streak of blood trailed from the corner of his mouth. He soared directly into the sky.

Boom!

Suddenly, a violet treasured sword transformed into a bolt of lightning and shot toward Tian Fan’s heart at an astonishing speed. Lu Hun sneered—he had been waiting for this very moment, ready to deliver a fatal blow the instant Tian Fan emerged from the ground.

Long hair partially covered Tian Fan’s face, but two sharp beams of divine light pierced through. With a deafening roar, he shattered the white clouds in the sky. The rolling soundwaves spread like a divine bell being struck, rupturing the eardrums of many weaker cultivators and forcing them to retreat rapidly.

A massive golden hand emerged, covering the sky and blotting out the sun. Boundless golden light radiated from it, more dazzling than the sun itself, causing everyone’s pupils to ache. The hand seized the incoming violet sword.

Lu Hun was shocked—he had not expected Tian Fan to be so fearsome as to catch a sword with his bare hands. He frantically channeled his sword arts, but despite the violet sword trembling wildly, it remained firmly trapped in the golden palm.

“Ah!!!”

Tian Fan’s face remained half-hidden by his long hair, concealing his expression. With a furious roar, he unleashed his full strength. Both hands stretched out, golden radiance surging skyward as he gripped the violet sword tightly.

Crack…

A faint but crisp sound came from the violet sword, making many cultivators strain their ears.

Lu Hun panicked and desperately exerted his supreme weapon-controlling technique.

“Shatter for me!”

Tian Fan’s golden hands clenched the violet sword tightly. With a forceful shout and all his strength, the violet sword let out a mournful wail before finally breaking with a sharp “snap!”

“Pu…”

Lu Hun spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. His three swords and golden divine lamp were all treasures bonded to his very life force. With the destruction of the violet sword, his soul suffered a severe backlash, damaging his heart meridians.

“My heavens, did I see that right?”

“He crushed Lu Hun’s supreme violet sword with his bare hands!”

“Terrifying!”

Many cultivators were horrified. Someone had just snapped a treasured sword in half with sheer physical force! That sword had been forged from divine materials by the Sword Immortal Sect, meant to be indestructible. Yet now, it had been broken apart by brute strength.

Who could possibly contend with such raw power? Even an expert from the Primordial Unity realm would furrow their brows at this scene.

With the violet sword destroyed, everyone knew—Lu Hun was about to go berserk…
