Chapter 82: So It Was Her

“Officer, you must be mistaken, right?” I looked at the police officer, confused. Let’s not even mention whether I’m connected to this case; I don’t even know where Peace Street is, and now I’m a robbery suspect? What’s going on?

The officer frowned. “No matter what, we’d still like Xia Tian to come with us to the station.” As he said this, he and his colleague walked over.

“Stop! I’ll go on my own!” Damn it, what the hell is going on here? Have I been framed?

Thinking about who I’ve offended recently, there really aren’t many who have the power to get me into a police station.

Zhou Feng is just a thug, and Wang Hu is the same. Neither of them has the ability. Chen Tianxiang might have been a possibility before, but now that his father is locked up, it’s even more unlikely.

Could it be Gao Shuai? He’s the most likely. I know his family has money, but I’m not sure how much or how powerful they are. Plus, he’s the one I messed with the most.

After thinking it through, Gao Shuai seems like the most likely culprit. I’ll follow these two officers for now, and when I get to the station, I’ll contact Zhang Dong to figure out what’s really going on.

As I followed the two officers out, the classroom was filled with noise. Some people even started talking about me.

“I didn’t expect Xia Tian to be this kind of person!”

“You can tell just by how he’s always late!”

“Wait, that can’t be right! Xia Tian’s received awards personally from the mayor, the police chief, and the education bureau head! This has to be slander!”

“True, but I still have some doubts. If he’s really innocent, why are the police after him?”

I sighed helplessly. Great, now I’m at the center of a storm.

As soon as I stepped out of the classroom with the officers, Sister Qian rushed over. Gasping for breath, she asked the two officers, “What has my student done?”

“We suspect he’s involved in a robbery on Peace Street, and we’re taking him in for questioning,” the lead officer said to Sister Qian.

Sister Qian panicked upon hearing this. “That’s impossible! This student of mine is always well-behaved. You must be mistaken!”

“Ma’am, please step aside and don’t interfere with official duties,” the officer said, frowning at her.

I smiled at Sister Qian. “Teacher, this has nothing to do with me. I’ll be out soon. Don’t worry.”

Sister Qian nodded, then said, “I’ll call my dad right now. He’ll get you out for sure!”

Jeez! Is that really necessary?

The two officers exchanged glances when they heard Sister Qian say that, as if they were silently communicating.

But in the end, they still escorted me to the police car.

On the way, neither officer spoke to me, and there was no beating like I had imagined. The ride was calm and uneventful.

The more I thought about it, the stranger this all seemed. If this were Gao Shuai’s revenge, I definitely wouldn’t have made it through the trip without being roughed up. Yet, these two officers didn’t lay a hand on me. Something’s off.

When we arrived at the police station, the two officers brought me into an interrogation room and were about to leave.

“Aren’t you going to question me?” I asked, confused, as I watched the two officers getting ready to go.

The lead officer glanced at me. “Someone will be here soon. Just wait.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the door to the interrogation room opened. The two officers said simultaneously, “Boss, we’ve brought him.”

“You two can go now,” a voice replied. It was a woman, and it sounded familiar, though I couldn’t quite place it.

Once the officers left, I finally got a clear look at the “boss.” Oh, crap! It was the beautiful Zi Yan, the woman I spanked yesterday! Damn! How is she working at the police station?!

Seeing her, everything clicked into place. This girl was clearly using her position for personal revenge!

“Hey, we meet again, beautiful!” I said awkwardly, knowing I was in the wrong.

Zi Yan kept a stern face, saying nothing. I continued, “I’m sorry about last time. It was all a misunderstanding!”

“Hmph! Apologizing now? Too late!” she said, kicking at me. I dodged quickly, but with my hands cuffed, it wasn’t easy to avoid.

“You’re clearly using your position for personal revenge!” I said as I moved aside, looking at Officer Zi Yan.

“So what if I am? Even if you were at the peak of the Yellow Rank, with those handcuffs on, I could still defeat you!” she shouted, throwing another punch. We were too close, and I had no choice but to block it.

I grabbed her hand and said, “I’ve already apologized. Why are you still hitting me?”

“Hmph!” She didn’t respond, aiming another punch straight at my face. Since my hands were cuffed, I had to take the hit, leaving me with a free pair of “sunglasses” and the feeling of being a national treasure panda.

“Damn! I’ve told you it was a misunderstanding, and I’ve apologized. When is enough enough?” I backed away, rubbing my eyes.

Zi Yan said nothing and attacked again.

I had no choice but to channel my True Qi. This girl was way too petty. If this kept up, I’d be beaten to death!

I slowly gathered True Qi at my wrists, then suddenly unleashed it, snapping the handcuffs. Zi Yan froze in place, clearly shocked.

Covering her mouth, she exclaimed, “You… you’re actually a Profound Rank master!”

“Profound Rank, Yellow Rank, whatever. I’m leaving now. This is ridiculous!” I grumbled. After all, I’d just been hit, and no one would feel good about that. And now I had a black eye on my handsome face! What a joke!

But just as I turned to leave, Zi Yan kicked at me again. “Even if you’re a Profound Rank master, I’ll still defeat you!”

Damn, what a headache! I dodged her attack, gathering True Qi into my middle and index fingers. I struck at her major pressure points.

Although I’m not a doctor, I know where the key pressure points are on the human body.

Pressure point strikes aren’t just myths, so with my True Qi, Zi Yan stood frozen, unable to move.

I didn’t have time to keep arguing with her, so I prepared to leave. But to my dismay, I realized the door was locked. Even worse, it needed a key to open from the inside!

I called out a few times, but no one came to open the door.

“Miss, where’s the key?” I asked, forcing a smile.

“I won’t tell you!” Even though I’d hit her pressure points, she could still speak.

“Please, have mercy on me!” I pretended to beg, wiping away fake tears, but she remained unmoved, stubbornly silent.

Since the soft approach wasn’t working, I tried being more forceful. I put on a fierce look. “Tell me where the key is!”

“Hmph!” The little beauty snorted, turning her head away.

“Are you going to tell me or not? If you don’t, I’ll…” I needed a way to threaten her.

Oh, right! Sister Qian once said that every girl values her pur!ty. Maybe I could use that to scare her! I refuse to believe she can withstand that!

I NEED YOUR HELP: During the recent unrest in the country I am from, our family hardware store was broken into and looted by thugs. I don’t know why they did it, since my family has always been minding our own business, without bothering anyone else. I’m guessing some people are taking advantage of the current lawless and chaotic state of the country.

Anyways, the incident now leaves me as the only earning member of my family. Long time readers know that I was already dealing with a mountain of trouble (that I inherited from my father), and was already struggling. I had created a plan of action, and was steadily moving forward. But this incident destroyed whatever plans I had, again. I don’t know why bad things keep happening to me again and again. I might as well be cursed or something.

So here I am, after much hesitation, once again asking for your support. If you are reading this, please help if you are able to, I repeat, help only if you are able to. I am not asking something for free, you can become a Patron at Patreon to gain access to more chapters, or sponsor as many chapters you can from any of the novels you enjoy on Goblinslate here at BuymeaCoffee. Or if you just want to help, you can donate any amount at the Wishlist at BuymeaCoffee. Thank you.
