Chapter 95: The Kingdom Project XXXI (part 2)

What Bahamut demanded were all rights to the spoils of this war; meaning, the full ownership of enemies’ weapons, munitions, and captured prisoners.

From Hangury’s point of view, there was no reason to refuse Bahamut’s proposal to demand something they did not yet have in an urgent situation, and rather, they were grateful for the fact that Bahamut did not demand something that they already possessed.

In fact, the weaponry and remaining munitions of the dead enemies were already being processed by the Beden Merchant Company, and the process of transferring the new batch of the prisoners was also proceeding step by step.

However, in the process, the death of Iscal, who was in fact the biggest spoil of war and the leader of the enemies, was a part that could be considered a breach of contract from Bahamut’s point of view.

‘Now that it was come to this…I’ll have to consider offering something else. Money or territories…or else I have to reciprocate at least with nationwide fidelity…’

King Mohichi, being a good King who originally valued trust, thought that Bahamut should be compensated for this part even if it was not stipulated in the contract.

LooKing at the King who was lost in his thoughts, Bahamut, who had been pondering for a while, sighed and said, “It’s a pity. If I could use him well, he would have been useful in a lot of matter…so how did that happen?”

“That’s…I heard it was a simple accident. I don’t know the exact story, but…”

As it was already related to the royal family’s unsavory affairs, King Mohichi slowly looked at Bahamut with a hesitant expression on his face. It appeared that Bahamut was feeling suspicious about something. Seeing that, the King began to think that perhaps this man with a wide field of vision might be aware of the truth.

Towards such a King, Bahamut spoke in a calm voice, “So it was a simple accident. If that’s His Majesty’s will, it would be reasonable to move on.”

“Uh…um…thank you, Mr. Bahamut.” The King expressed his gratitude while feeling even more bitter about his words.

Regarding this, Bahamut seemed to have decided not to discuss the matter any further, as he let go of his expression of disappointment and spoke to the King.

“You don’t have to be so sorry. I have already received a lot of undeserved favor from His Majesty. I am grateful enough for the fact that you treated a mere merchant with such respect.”

“Don’t say that, you are the benefactor who saved me and this country. As a Hangurian, it is natural to pay back when you receive grace. Although it is embarrassing to say this, if there is a request from you in the future, we Hangury and the Black Legion will promise to draw the sword for you at any time.”

“Your Majesty…” Bahamut showed a deep expression of gratitude to the King’s words.

Seeing him act in such a manner, the King also smiled.

“Well, since the important discussions are over, I think we need to sort things out here one last time. Thank you so much, Your Majesty.”

“Ah… are you sure you’re leaving already?”

“Yes, most of the work except for the prisoner of war issue has been closed over the past few days. The work is not completely finished yet, but since the rest of the work can be taken care of by the people under me, I think I should go home soon.”

“Is that so… well, so be it. After all, people feel comfortable only when they return to their hometown.”

“Thank you for your understanding. With that settled, I will see you again if opportunity presents itself, Your Majesty.”

Bahamut stood up from his seat and bowed down on his knees politely.

Seeing his gesture, a peaceful smile appeared on King Mohichi’s lips.

And at the same time, Bahamut’s face, which was deeply bowed, contained an expression of unmatched victory.

‘Good! With this, the goal has been completely achieved!’

Contrary to such a humble appearance, Bahamut was feeling quite jubilant inside. Then he began to recall in his head the benefits he had gained through this work.

The spoils of war was merely a small part of his goal. There were two other things he was trying to obtain through this war. One was the close friendship with the Kingdom of Hangury, which has just been proven once again by the mouth of the former King.

And the other one…
