Chapter 197: The Reckless Madman!

The assassin was actually hiding among the freshman representatives—something I had never anticipated. At the same time, it led me to a shocking conclusion.

The organization targeting Qin Mengdie was anything but ordinary. In fact, they might not even be Chinese!

If that were the case, it would explain a lot. But then, why would they still allow Qin Mengdie to come to school despite knowing the danger?

Never mind! Now wasn’t the time to dwell on that. The priority was to take this guy out first!

I carefully flew over to him, but he still showed no reaction.

Suddenly, I materialized in front of him and greeted him with a smile, “Hello!”

Clearly, he hadn’t expected me to appear out of thin air. Since I was right in front of his gun barrel, he immediately tried to pull the trigger.

But I didn’t give him the chance. In an instant, I twisted the sniper rifle’s barrel, bending it out of shape.

The foreigner’s eyes widened in shock, but the surprise lasted only a moment before he abandoned his gun and fled.

“Hmph!” I sneered and hurled the sniper rifle straight at his back as he ran.

“Sh!t!” The rifle struck him squarely, sending him tumbling to the ground. He cursed through gritted teeth, struggling to get back up, but he had no chance to escape—I was already standing right in front of him.

“Who sent you? Why are you attacking us?” I frowned, staring at the foreigner.

But to my surprise, he completely ignored me. Instead, he pulled out a combat knife from behind and lunged at me.

I had clearly underestimated this assassin’s strength. His speed was terrifying—even faster than the two bodyguards Wei Junzhi had by his side.

I quickly summoned a True Qi barrier, and the knife’s tip froze mid-air, unable to advance another inch.

Without hesitation, I reached out to snatch the blade, but the assassin’s reaction caught me off guard.

As if anticipating my move, he pulled back slightly, then twisted the knife horizontally, slashing toward my palm.

The combat knife’s material was clearly extraordinary—its gleaming white edge shimmered with a dark, poisonous sheen.

Left with no choice, I withdrew my hand and retreated.

This man’s cultivation level wasn’t as high as mine, but his combat experience far surpassed my own. Taking him down wouldn’t be easy.

Seeing me retreat, the assassin pressed his advantage, launching a flurry of ruthless strikes aimed at my vital points. If not for Long Qingyang’s previous training in movement techniques, I wouldn’t have been able to dodge them.

His attacks were swift and precise, each slash followed by a series of deadly follow-ups.

Suddenly, he accelerated, aiming for my neck. I barely managed to lean back in time.

Though I dodged the neck strike, he immediately pivoted, thrusting the knife toward my chest in a diagonal slash.

If that blade had pierced through, it would have gone straight for my heart!

“Scram!” I roared, unleashing a burst of True Qi that sent him flying backward.

Without my True Qi, I would’ve been no match for him. Despite his inferior physical strength, his combat skills were on a whole other level.

The assassin, now thrown aside, didn’t seem too shocked. Compared to the earlier True Qi barrier, this was nothing.

“Aoow—!” With a fierce cry, my fist shot toward his chest.

Only then did his expression change. He hastily raised the knife to block.

CLANG!

A sharp metallic clang echoed as my fist collided with the blade.

“D*mn it!” I cursed inwardly, retreating again. That punch had been one of the most powerful moves from Dragon Battles the Eight Desolations, yet he had still blocked it. Though the knife wasn’t unscathed—slightly bent—it was far more durable than I’d expected.

I had assumed the blade would shatter under that strike, yet it had only warped slightly. Worse, my hand still ached despite being wrapped in True Qi.

Aside from that black dagger, this combat knife was probably the best weapon I’d ever encountered.

Still, my punch wasn’t completely ineffective. Even though he had blocked it, the sheer force of Dragon Battles the Eight Desolations wasn’t something a well-made blade could fully negate.

The assassin staggered back several steps before steadying himself. His already pale skin turned ghostly white, and with a grimace, he spat out a mouthful of blood.

Seeing this, I grinned and beckoned him. “Come on, baby! Let’s go again!”

The assassin’s expression was grave, sweat beading on his forehead. Clearly, I wasn’t an easy opponent for him either.

But I had no time to waste. Channeling True Qi into my feet, I shot toward him like an arrow, simultaneously drawing the black dagger from my Storage Ring.

His reflexes were sharp—he immediately swung the combat knife at me.

CLANG—CRACK!

With a single strike, the black dagger cleaved his blade in two.

Realizing the danger, the assassin tried to retreat, but he wasn’t fast enough. The dagger sliced through his shoulder, tearing his clothes and leaving a deep wound.

“Ah—!” He let out a sharp cry.

I knew the black dagger’s power all too well. Without proper treatment, that wound would never heal.

Pointing the dagger at him, I demanded, “Who are you? Who sent you to kill us?”

The assassin turned his head away, refusing to speak.

“How did you sneak into the freshman representatives?!” I raised my voice, but he remained silent.

“D*mn it!” I stomped on his wrist, crushing the bones with a sickening CRACK.

Yet, all he did was grunt—no screams, no begging.

“Talk! Who sent you?!” I snarled, but he still ignored me.

Gritting my teeth, I raised my foot again, ready to shatter his leg bones—but then he did something insane.

With the broken half of his combat knife, he chopped off his own leg without hesitation!

Blood sprayed everywhere, splattering onto me.

For a moment, I was speechless. This guy was ruthless. Despite being around my age, he had the nerve to sever his own limb without flinching.

“Hahaha!” He laughed through the pain, his face twisted in agony.

He was a madman—a reckless, su!cidal madman!

This man had undergone brutal training. I had hoped to extract some information, but clearly, that was impossible now.

Just as I prepared to finish him off, I froze mid-motion.

The assassin—this lunatic—had somehow pulled out a grenade while I was distracted, yanked out the pin, and was now holding it in his teeth!

With a crazed grin, he locked eyes with me and wrapped his remaining arm around my leg.

Without a second thought, I slashed off his arm with the black dagger and immediately activated my flight technique, shooting into the sky—but it was too late.

I had barely risen five or six meters when a blinding explosion erupted beneath me, followed by a searing shockwave that sent me hurtling through the air!
