Chapter 2: Unfaithful

I never imagined that my cousin and Fangfang would forget to draw the curtains properly at night. My heart was in my thr0at, yet after a few minutes, there was no movement from my cousin. I was stunned and somewhat puzzled.

My cousin had always appeared particularly masculine in front of me, and he used to have plenty of w0men, but tonight felt strangely different. Could it be that everything before was just an act to save face?

“W-what’s wrong with you?” Fangfang asked, her m0uth half-open as she looked at him.

My cousin gave an awkward smile. “D*mn it, I’ve probably been too tired lately. Let’s leave it for tomorrow.”

Hearing this, Fangfang pouted, then left the bedroom for the bathroom. I hurriedly returned to my own room.

The sound of running water came from the bathroom. I knew Fangfang was showering. Had I known she would be staying with my cousin at my place, I should have installed a camera in the bathroom earlier; that way I could have admired her perfect curves.

Good heavens, what was I thinking!

I shook my head and went straight to sleep.

In my dream, Fangfang and I embraced each other. Scene after scene left me restless and excited. When I woke in the morning, I had to change my underwear in embarrassment.

There was nothing I could do about it. My wife was away on business abroad for long periods. Though married, I lived like a bachelor; only during the New Year holidays could we be intimate.

“Xiao Nan, time to get up!”

At the sound of that clear, crisp voice, I quickly washed up and stepped out of my room.

Fangfang was wearing pink yoga pants and a white tank top today. Her curvaceous figure made my heart race. Several dishes were already laid out on the dining table in the living room.

“Sister-in-law, did you make these?” I asked in surprise.

“Your sister-in-law is an excellent cook, Xiao Nan,” my cousin said with a wide grin, gesturing for me to sit and join them for breakfast.

“This is too much; I should have gotten up earlier to prepare the meal,” I said awkwardly, scratching the back of my head before sitting down promptly.

After all, my cousin and Fangfang were guests, yet I hadn’t expected Fangfang to be so considerate, personally making breakfast for us.

I had to admit, Fangfang’s cooking was exceptional. Even when my wife and I were both home, we rarely cooked and usually ate out. In this respect, I found myself admiring Fangfang even more.

“Xiao Nan, you’re taking us to buy a diamond ring today, right?” my cousin asked while eating.

“Yes, there’s a C@rtier store at Metro City. That brand would suit sister-in-law perfectly,” I replied at once.

I knew my cousin was never short of money and always went for luxury. A C@rtier diamond ring would certainly meet his standards; I was sure she wouldn’t refuse.

Yet upon hearing this, my cousin frowned slightly. He signaled Fangfang to keep eating, then pulled me out onto the balcony and offered me a cigarette.

“Xiao Nan, roughly how much would a one-carat diamond ring from that brand cost?” he asked in a low voice.

I was taken aback. Could my cousin actually be concerned about the price?

“C@rtier is a luxury brand. It would probably range from a hundred thousand to several hundred thousand yuan. The best ones are custom-made and can exceed a million,” I explained quickly.

His expression stiffened, as though lost in thought, but then he nodded slightly.

“Xiao Nan, when we go later, keep it under two hundred thousand. That way it looks impressive without being excessive. I can accept that,” he said hurriedly.

“Got it,” I nodded.

D*mn it, my cousin’s family was far from short of money. With his previous girlfriends, he had never skimped on rings. Why was he being so cautious with Fangfang this time? Had he already started thinking about the next one?

With these thoughts in mind, we finished breakfast. I drove my cousin and Fangfang to Metro City. As soon as we arrived, Fangfang seemed captivated by the big-city mall, looking around with fresh excitement. I led them to the C@rtier store and began selecting rings.

“Fangfang, what do you think of this one?” My cousin stood with arms folded, pointing to a rose-gold diamond ring in the display case.

At his words, Fangfang looked up, her cheeks flushing. “It’s… it’s nice. Very pretty.”

That ring cost one hundred and seventy thousand yuan—mid-range here. It seemed to fit my cousin’s current approach. For me, if I had his wealth, buying a four or five hundred thousand yuan diamond ring for the one I loved would be perfectly reasonable. When I married my wife, though we weren’t as wealthy as my cousin, we hadn’t held back on the ring either.

“Alright, we’ll take this one!” my cousin declared with a grin.

The sales assistant measured Fangfang’s ring finger and slipped it onto her hand.

After purchasing the ring, my cousin asked me to take him to a bridal boutique to choose wedding dresses. Fangfang tried on several gowns. Between changes, my cousin seemed busy with phone calls and stepped outside alone.

“Xiao Nan, does this wedding dress look good?” Fangfang asked, wearing a white sequined gown that made her appear graceful and elegant. Her perfect career line left me in quiet awe.

“Yes, it looks wonderful. You’re truly beautiful, sister-in-law,” I replied promptly.

“Then this one, plus the two I tried earlier,” Fangfang told the sales assistant.

When it was time to pay, I went to call my cousin, but he was still on the phone.

“Got it, my little baby. Wait till tonight—I’ll take good care of you.”

“Unit 201, Building 5, Blue Sky Community, right?”

“I know, heh heh. Wear something pretty tonight!”

Hearing these continuous remarks, I grew suspicious. I never imagined my cousin had a mistress here.

As soon as he hung up, I called him back inside. When he saw the wedding dresses Fangfang had chosen, his expression seemed to darken, but then he smiled. “Fine, all three.”

By the time we returned home, it was already evening. As soon as we arrived, my cousin said he had business that night and told Fangfang to rest early.

Hearing this, I frowned. Going out so late—could it be the w0man from the phone call?

Though I thought this, I naturally wouldn’t object. Fangfang simply agreed.

Watching my cousin leave, I turned to Fangfang. She appeared troubled, her face filled with worry.

“Sister-in-law, does cousin have friends here?” I asked, stepping closer and looking up at her.

At my words, tears suddenly welled in Fangfang’s eyes. She threw her arms around me.

“Xiao Nan… what should I do? What am I supposed to do?”

Her sudden embrace caught me off guard. Holding her so closely, I could feel her gentleness and warmth. The alluring scent of her perfume made my heart race. Unconsciously, I wrapped my arms around her too.

“Sister-in-law, why are you crying?” I asked, seeing her face streaked with tears like raindrops on a pear blossom.
