Chapter 41: Sister Qu

“Sister Qu, what are you saying? You can call me even if there’s nothing wrong. What brings you to Shanghai this time?” I asked hastily.

“Good news, of course,” Qu Na smiled. “Xiao Lin, I just got involved with a new housing development, and it’s located right in Shanghai. Want to reserve an apartment?”

“A housing development? Where in Shanghai?” I exclaimed in surprise.

“Blue Moon Mansion, a prime location in the North Bund.” Qu Na’s lips curled into a smile.

Hearing this, I was shocked.

I had certainly heard of this development, and I heard that it was snapped up as soon as it opened a few days ago, with prices exceeding 100,000 yuan per square meter. It was in high demand and short supply; for the average person, it was absolutely impossible to find a unit.

“Such a good thing!” I thought, my heart pounding.

“You’re in Shanghai, right? That’s why I remembered. This development not only has a fantastic location but is also in a good school district,” Qu Na continued.

“Sister Qu, how much is it per square meter?” I asked quickly.

To be honest, I’ll definitely buy a school district property in the future, especially since this is a new development. Owning one would be fantastic, but I’m also a little apprehensive. After all, the surrounding area is already selling for 130,000 to 140,000 yuan per square meter, and it’s incredibly difficult to find a place there.

“I’m one of the investors in this development. Xiao Lin, if you want it, I’ll charge you 80,000 yuan per square meter at cost. But that’s for a bare-bones apartment. As for the floor, the apartments I have are mostly on prime floors,” Qu Na said with a smile.

“W-what? 80,000 yuan per square meter? In Shanghai, only old, run-down apartments in the city center cost that much. New apartments are over 100,000 yuan per square meter!” I exclaimed in surprise.

“Here are the floor plans. You can take a look,” Qu Na said, quickly pulling out some documents.

I was thrilled. I opened the floor plans and looked at them. They were mostly large apartments, starting at 150 square meters, with some reaching 300 to 400 square meters. This was clearly a high-end development, very important in Shanghai. Owning an apartment like this in Shanghai would make you a winner in life.

“I only gave you my price because I think you’re a good person. Others can’t even get a floor like this for 130,000 or 140,000 yuan per square meter. Even if you buy it and resell it, you can make tens of thousands per square meter,” Qu Na continued, looking at me affectionately.

I was genuinely touched. I knew it might not mean much to Qu Na, but for me, it was an opportunity. If I didn’t seize it, I might regret it for the rest of my life. After all, in Shanghai these days, high-end apartments like this wouldn’t be priced like this.

“I’ll call my wife right now,” I said hurriedly.

“You need your wife’s approval first,” Qu Na smiled, gesturing for me to make the call.

I walked out of the restaurant and called my wife. It was already evening where she was, and she answered the phone a few seconds later.

“Hey, honey, I need to talk to you about something,” I said quickly.

“Okay, go ahead,” my wife asked.

“Well, I want to buy an apartment. Do you know Blue Moon Mansion in the North Bund? I want a 150-square-meter apartment,” I said eagerly.

“What? Blue Moon Mansion? Are you crazy?! It’s over 100,000 yuan per square meter there, and the renovated units are close to 160,000 yuan, plus there’s no market for them!” my wife immediately retorted.

“No, I know a friend who got me an insider price, 80,000 yuan per square meter,” I quickly explained.

“Don’t give me that nonsense, you’ve definitely been scammed. There’s no such thing as a free lunch! Our house is 90,000 yuan per square meter!” my wife clearly didn’t believe me.

“Well, honey, don’t doubt it, it really is that price. I’ve calculated it, and we should be able to scrape together 6 million yuan. We can pay the rest of the loan together,” I hurriedly said.

“6 million yuan for a 20-year loan, 50,000 to 60,000 yuan a month, it does sound like a lot, but I still think it’s unreliable. Besides, we don’t have any kids yet, what do we need a house for?” my wife continued to refuse.

“Won’t you reconsider?” I asked hastily.

“I’m going to sleep now. I’ll be back for Christmas, we’ll talk about it then.” My wife finished speaking and hung up the phone.

Beep beep beep!

My face was grim. Because my wife earns more than me at home, I’ve never had much say. She always has that superior, unquestionable attitude, which sometimes makes me feel incredibly tired.

“How did it go?” Qu Na asked hurriedly when she saw me return.

“I…my wife doesn’t quite believe it, and she said we don’t have children yet, so she doesn’t want to think about these things.” I was extremely embarrassed.

Hearing this, Qu Na looked at me in surprise, then gestured for me to eat first, but I was preoccupied.

Such a nice house—if I miss it, it’ll be gone forever. But to buy it, I need to come up with the money, and it’s all in my wife’s account. How can I touch it?

“Xiao Lin, is there something wrong between you and your wife?” After dinner, Qu Na asked as we walked out of the restaurant.

At this, I gave a bitter smile: “No, nothing. She’s just always traveling abroad for work and is quite busy, so we don’t communicate much.”

“A man also needs to think about himself. What will you get if your wife divorces you?” Qu Na continued.

“This—” I was momentarily speechless.

Qu Na was right. If my wife and I divorced, all the savings would be with her. Even with liquidation, my savings over the years wouldn’t be much. As for the house, it was originally a joint purchase by both families. Even if we sold it, I might not be able to afford a house in the same area.

“I’m just saying, in case. After all, you’ve been married for so many years without a child; it doesn’t seem very stable,” Qu Na patted my shoulder.

“Sister Qu, I really want this house, but alas, my wife won’t agree.” I said helplessly.

As I spoke, Qu Na gave me a meaningful look and continued, “How about this, you choose one, and you can pay me back later.”

“Uh, ah?” I was stunned, then looked at Qu Na in shock.

“I don’t have many friends in my life, and a house is a necessity. Xiao Lin, you need to think about the future. The 150-square-meter apartment is available to you at an internal price of 12 million. After you buy it, you must put your parents’ names on the deed so it won’t be considered marital property. As for the money, I’m not short of cash; you can give it to me when you have it,” Qu Na continued.

Hearing Qu Na say this, I couldn’t help but feel moved. I felt that knowing Qu Na was a blessing from my past life. I knew Qu Na was very wealthy; 10 million might not be much to her, but her help now truly touched me.

“Sister Qu, why are you so good to me?” I couldn’t help but ask.

“Because I like being with you,” Qu Na said with a bright smile.

Looking at Qu Na’s sweet smile, I couldn’t connect her with the cold, ruthless businesswoman she was. Being with her, I only saw her gentleness, her tenderness. Perhaps I really had fallen for her.

“Sister Qu, thank you,” I said sincerely.

“Then come watch a movie with me tonight.” Qu Na placed her hands behind her back, and her ample b0som made my heart race.
