Chapter 41: The Ghost Slayer Chen Qing

“This is my cousin; we agreed to do a live stream together tonight.”

“As long as you know him, that’s good. I’m just afraid of running into something ghostly again.”

Ge Hong visibly relaxed, her acting impeccable.

This left Zuo Si puzzled; her grave was clearly not far away. Did she not know?

‘Is Ge Hong just toying with us for fun? Or does she think we haven’t seen her tombstone? Regardless, as long as she doesn’t turn on us now, it’s fine.’

With no other choice, Zuo Si had to accompany Ge Hong and agreed to help her find Ge Shan.

In the dense forest during the latter half of the night, the humidity was heavy, and the fog showed no signs of dissipating since the broadcast began.

Unable to find a proper path, they could only walk through the overgrown grass.

The moment Lin Zihao saw Ge Hong, his body began to tremble uncontrollably, which naturally caught Ge Hong’s attention.

Ge Hong turned her head and curiously asked, “Brother, what’s wrong? Why are you shaking?”

Lin Zihao, startled, unconsciously stepped back with his right foot and said, “It’s nothing, I’m just a bit nervous seeing such a beautiful sister.”

Ge Hong covered her mouth and chuckled, “You’re quite the charmer, unlike your cousin who lacks any sense.”

“Sister is just joking…” Lin Zihao laughed, but his smile looked more like a grimace.

Creak… Creak…

The sound of something being chewed came from not far away, sending chills down Zuo Si’s spine.

“Who is it?”

He cautiously pushed aside the tall grass and looked in the direction of the sound, discovering a pink figure not far away, facing away from him and eating something.

From the style of her clothing, it should be Ge Shan.

“So it’s Ge Shan.”

Ge Hong let out a sigh of relief, but Zuo Si’s heart raced; the two had taken a taxi together.

Since Ge Hong was a ghost, what could Ge Shan be? It was easy to guess.

Ge Hong looked at Lin Zihao and said, “Brother, go call her over for me; let’s go together.”

Lin Zihao’s face instantly turned pale. “Huh? Me…?”

Ge Hong’s expression darkened. “You’re the youngest here; can’t you run an errand for us?”

Seeing her unfriendly demeanor, Lin Zihao could only nod with a bitter face and steeled himself to approach Ge Shan.

His stiff steps resembled a rusty machine, and all his attention was focused on Ge Shan.

Creak… Creak…

The pink figure squatted on the ground, hands near her mouth, as if gnawing on something.

Creak… Creak…

The large bites and gulps sounded nothing like the actions of a girl.

As he got closer, he realized there was indeed a grave right in front of her.

How could someone be eating something facing a grave…?

Lin Zihao grimaced and glanced back, wishing Ge Hong would just disappear so he could leave this haunted place.

But ideals are beautiful, while reality is cruel.

Ge Hong’s pale face was fixedly staring at him.

“Hey!”

Lin Zihao fought back the urge to cry as he reached Ge Shan’s back.

The distance was so close that the chewing sounds felt like maggots burrowing into every pore of his body.

He slowly extended his trembling right hand, hovering above that pink shoulder for a moment before steeling his heart to pat down.

Ge Shan instantly turned her head; her hands were empty, but that made it even more terrifying.

She was actually gnawing on her own hands…

Her mouth was smeared with blood, her gaze vacant, and her hands were already mangled beyond recognition.

Lin Zihao’s pupils dilated.

“Ah!!”

He screamed and collapsed to the ground.

At that instant, a tall figure burst out from the grass ahead, appearing in front of everyone with a baseball bat in hand.

With a loud bang, a heavy blow struck Ge Shan’s head, sending it flying off her body.

“Ge Shan!!!” Ge Hong let out a heart-wrenching scream, her gaze fixed ahead, filled with resentment and malice. However, instead of rushing forward to fight, she chose to flee, transforming into a shadow that vanished into the mist in an instant.

Zuo Si remained motionless; although he had been on guard against Ge Hong, he had clearly seen the scene unfold—Chen Qing was the one who had struck.

Lin Zihao, sitting on the ground, stared blankly at Ge Shan’s ‘corpse,’ watching as she dissolved into wisps of black mist, merging with the world around her.

“Are you okay?” Chen Qing helped the still-shaken Lin Zihao to his feet.

“I’m… I’m fine…”

“Damn it, I knew these two women weren’t human!” Chen Qing looked at Zuo Si and said, “Brother, I think we’re in serious trouble tonight.”

“Oh? Really? I thought you just took care of one female ghost?”

“These were just small fry; I was lucky to take one down by catching her off guard,” Chen Qing replied. “As for that evil ghost Zhao Changfa, I’m definitely no match for him.”

“So what do you mean?”

“I mean we need to team up to take down Zhao Changfa, or we’ll all die here tonight.”

“That does seem to be the only option.” Zuo Si pondered for a moment, “But what if Zhao Changfa is human? If we kill him, wouldn’t that be a crime?”

“How could he possibly be human? Have you forgotten the story I told you? He’s been dead for three years! He’s definitely an evil ghost!”

“Let me think…”

“Stop thinking! Even if we miraculously survive tonight, what about later? He’ll still kill other innocent people!”

“Alright!” Zuo Si nodded, “But I need to see Zhao Changfa’s remains first to confirm he’s really dead. He died in Miaoshan Cemetery; he wouldn’t be buried anywhere else, right?”

“No problem! I’ll prove it to you.” Chen Qing readily agreed and led the way up the mountain.

Lin Zihao followed closely beside Zuo Si, occasionally giving him warning looks.

Zuo Si understood; it was a sign that Chen Qing didn’t seem trustworthy. He nodded at Lin Zihao without saying much, and they continued climbing to the mountain’s peak.

After crossing over the ridge and walking along several winding paths, Chen Qing finally stopped.

This place was very secluded; it would be hard to find unless one looked closely.

Chen Qing pointed to a pit and said, “Right here! Wait for me; I’ll dig it out for you! Someone like him wouldn’t even have a grave, but there must be something here that proves his identity.”

With that, he jumped in.

In that instant, Zuo Si suddenly turned and ran.

Lin Zihao quickly reacted, following closely behind as they raced down the mountain.

The two of them charged down the side of the mountain, not daring to return the same way, stumbling and not pausing for a moment.

Zuo Si’s thoughts remained unchanged; no matter who he encountered tonight, he would not trust them. He even began to doubt Lin Zihao; if it weren’t for the fact that this guy was sticking so close to him, Zuo Si would have seriously considered shaking him off as well.
