Chapter 42: The Coffin in the Room

A light rain began to fall from the sky, and Zuo Si put on his hat, increasingly feeling that the purchase of this raincoat was worth it. Such light rain could not soak through.

As for Lin Zihao, he was in a dire situation, wearing a regular coat, and it was hard to tell how many long, thin cuts he had sustained from the thorns. Now that it was raining, it was even more unbearable. At this moment, he no longer wanted to be a ghost-hunting streamer.

The two of them were young and physically fit, and after running for half an hour, they arrived at the cemetery at the foot of the mountain.

Although the exit of the cemetery was not far away, Zuo Si could not leave; he still had to complete the daily tasks of the black phone. Near the exit, there were two small houses, and he planned to go inside one of them to take shelter.

“The most dangerous place is the safest place; no one would think I would have the chance to escape from here and hide in this small house.” Zuo Si quietly approached one of the small houses and peered inside through a crack. It was pitch black inside, and he could see nothing. He cautiously took out his phone to illuminate the area, checking that no one was inside before daring to enter. However, when he pushed the door, he found it was locked from the outside.

“I’ll do it!” Lin Zihao pulled out a piece of iron wire from somewhere and, after some fiddling, successfully unlocked the door.

As soon as they entered, a foul, rotten smell assaulted their senses.

Zuo Si frowned, turned off the phone’s flashlight, and used the light from the phone screen to observe the surroundings.

Here, apart from some dilapidated furniture and dust everywhere, there was nothing particularly noteworthy. Against the eastern wall stood a single bed; someone must have lived here before.

“Could this be where Zhao Changfa used to live?” Zuo Si glanced at the live stream room and was surprised to find that the viewer count had reached twenty thousand! It must have been due to those ten wolf-head rockets.

“You’re a fraud, streamer! Didn’t you say the next live stream would be more mundane? Why is it all high-energy?”

“That ghost who ate her own hand scared me to death just now, and I didn’t expect someone even more ruthless to jump out. Damn…”

“Who says otherwise? One hit and the head was smashed! And now we have to dig up graves at night… this live stream is just too intense!”

“Is that guy named Jade-faced Flying Dragon still here? Ge Hong just flew away; did she go looking for you? Are you two watching the live stream together now, or have you already been drained by her?”

“Get lost! Streamer, make me a moderator; whoever dares to joke with me, I’ll ban them!”

System: Jade-faced Flying Dragon has been appointed as the moderator of this live stream.

System: Golden Spear Undying Little Tyrant has been muted for sixty minutes by the moderator.

“Streamer, don’t just stand there; this room is likely where Zhao Changfa used to live. What if there are clues?”

“Yeah, yeah, I really want to know who the evil spirit is tonight. Although Ge Shan and Ge Hong are ghosts, they don’t seem like evil spirits at all. If nothing unexpected happens, it should be Chen Qing or Zhao Changfa.”

“I feel it’s Zhao Changfa! I bet a pack of spicy strips.”

“Shut up; the evil spirit is actually Lin Zihao! Don’t be fooled by his harmless appearance; he’s ruthless!”

“Dear viewers, if you think this live stream is good, don’t forget to follow; come often in the future, and I will do my best for every live stream.” Zuo Si didn’t chat much with the viewers; after taking another look around, he began to search the room with Lin Zihao.

There weren’t many items in the room, and there were very few places to hide things. Soon, Lin Zihao discovered something under the mattress.

“Bro, look what this is.”

Zuo Si took the item from his hand and began to examine it closely.

It was a collection of missing person notices, all cut out from newspapers, and they were all women. There were more than ten of them.

After flipping through a few, Zuo Si recognized two familiar faces.

They were Ge Hong and Ge Shan.

Why would there be missing person notices for them here? Could it be that they were killed by Zhao Changfa in their lifetime? Did these ten or so women all meet with misfortune?

Upon thinking of this, Zuo Si couldn’t help but feel a chill run down his spine.

If Zhao Changfa wasn’t the one who killed, then what was he collecting these missing person notices for?

“Brother, come quickly! There’s something under the bed!”

“I’m coming.” Zuo Si stuffed the missing person notices into his pocket and approached the bed, lifting the items from underneath with Lin Zihao.

To their shock, it was a coffin!

The foul stench in the room emanated from it.

Zuo Si suddenly recalled the story Chen Qing had told.

Could it be that Zhao Changfa truly had a necrophilic obsession? Was he still collecting c0rpses to this day?

The coffin lid wasn’t sealed shut and was easily opened by the two.

A wave of intense stench hit them.

Gritting his teeth against the nausea, Zuo Si looked inside and discovered that it indeed contained a female c0rpse.

Zhao Changfa really had a twisted taste!?

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and Zuo Si’s heart sank.

Had they been discovered? But he hadn’t made any noise just now.

“Grandpa, Grandpa, are you in there?”

The voice was pleasant and familiar.

It was… Gu Yiyi? She wasn’t dead? Or had she never been alive from the start?

“Grandpa?”

The door swung open, and the room was so small that there was nowhere to hide.

Zuo Si and Gu Yiyi locked eyes, and Zuo Si spoke first, “You, you’re okay?”

“I’m fine, brother. What are you doing here?”

“How can you be fine? I clearly saw you being tackled by that pregnant woman!”

“Brother, you must be seeing things. That sister left after you all did. I walked all the way here; it was exhausting.”

Gu Yiyi was still so innocent, so pure, her clean face devoid of any malice, making it hard not to believe her words.

“Then why are you here at the cemetery at this hour?”

“I’m looking for my grandpa. I was worried he might go hungry at night, so I came to bring him food. Are you hungry, brother? I can share some with you.”

“No thanks.” Zuo Si waved his hand, not letting his guard down.

Since entering, Gu Yiyi hadn’t even frowned, clearly unable to smell the foul stench in the room. She was definitely not a normal person.

“Your grandpa is Zhao Changfa?”

“Yes, have you seen him?”

“Hehe, I haven’t seen him.” Zuo Si said this, but in his heart, he thought, ‘Not only have I seen him, but I almost got killed by him.’

“Since you haven’t seen my grandpa, what are you doing here? You’re not stealing, are you?” Seeing that Zuo Si and Lin Zihao were silent, Gu Yiyi continued, “But it doesn’t matter; there’s nothing valuable here. You should leave quickly. My grandpa has a bad temper, and if he finds out you’re stealing from him, he will be very angry.”

Before Zuo Si could respond, a scream echoed from outside.

“Ah!!! Help! Save me!! Someone, please help me!”

It was Chen Qing!

Zuo Si hurried outside and saw Chen Qing fleeing in a panic. Behind him, Zhao Changfa was wielding a machete, his eyes filled with malice as he pursued.

When Chen Qing saw Zuo Si, it was as if he had found a savior, and he quickly cried out for help, “Save me! This evil spirit wants to kill me, please save me! Help me!”
