The two guys didn’t even realize what was happening before Zhang Yu and I started beating them up.
Grabbing the one without the restroom smell on him, I frowned and asked, “Was it your people who stabbed Fatty?”
“Brother Tian, it’s a misunderstanding!” The guy was trembling uncontrollably. If he hadn’t already emptied his bladder, he might have wet his pants. I couldn’t understand why Wang Hu would have people like him around.
I sneered, raising an eyebrow, “Don’t call me Brother Tian. I can’t bear it. You seemed pretty comfortable calling me an idiot just now, so keep going!”
“Mouse, why are you scared? He’s just a lone wolf. Once we’re out, we’ll tell Brother Hu to take care of him!” The guy reeked, but he still had guts. As soon as he finished speaking, Zhang Yu slapped him hard across the face. “Did I let you speak?”
“Now that Zhou Feng is gone, Brother Hu is the boss. You two are done for!” Despite the slap, the guy continued to threaten us.
I smiled, staring at him, “Before Zhou Feng dropped out, he told me the same thing…”
Unconsciously using True Qi, I made the guy shiver, and he quickly lowered his head, saying nothing more.
“Tell me, what’s the deal with Fatty’s stabb!ng?” I pushed Mouse against the wall, glaring at him.
“It was all Brother Hu’s doing. I wasn’t involved.” Mouse was so scared he couldn’t even look me in the eye.
Zhang Yu, impatient as always, slapped Mouse again. “Get to the point!”
“Brother Hu never intended to help you. He just used you. After you took down Zhou Feng, Brother Hu was happy but also worried that Zhou Feng might come back stronger. So, he had your friend stabbed to deepen the grudge between you. Zhang Yu was off-limits because of his brother Zhang Peng, and since you’re so good at fighting, they targeted the fat guy instead…” Mouse paused to swallow before continuing, “They stabbed Fatty, and then Brother Hu pretended to save him so you wouldn’t suspect him and would remember his favor…”
“Is that all?” I raised an eyebrow, pressing further.
“Brother Tian, that’s all I know. Please let me go!” Mouse started crying. At seventeen or eighteen, how could he cry so easily?
I waved my hand dismissively. “Go on, get out of here.”
Mouse, feeling as if he’d been granted amnesty, stumbled out of the restroom. The tough guy tried to leave too, but I kicked him to the ground, smiling at him. “Did I say you could go?”
“Cough! Brother Hu will avenge me!” Tough Guy still tried to hold his ground. I couldn’t help but wonder if Wang Hu had some sort of brainwashing skills. Maybe he used to be involved in some cult.
I took his phone from him and smashed it on his head. “Call Wang Hu and tell him to come here.”
“Hmph!” Tough Guy snorted, turning his head away. Zhang Yu, furious, kicked him in the stomach. “Are you asking for more?”
Tough Guy gritted his teeth, refusing to make a sound. Zhang Yu wanted to hit him again, but I stopped him.
“Will you call?” I asked one last time. When he remained defiant, I snapped one of his fingers with a loud crack, eliciting a scream.
Without saying anything, I grabbed another finger, ready to snap it too. Tough Guy finally relented, “Brother Tian, I’ll call, I’ll call.”
“See, that wasn’t so hard.” I handed him the phone, and he dialed Wang Hu’s number.
“What’s up, Hedgehog?” Wang Hu’s voice came through the phone clearly because I made Tough Guy use the speaker.
Hedgehog? That nickname was surprisingly fitting.
“Brother Hu, can you bring me some toilet paper? I forgot to bring any,” Hedgehog said as I instructed.
“F*ck! Why the hell are you calling me for this? I’ll have someone bring it to you!” Wang Hu was about to hang up, so I gestured for Hedgehog to find another excuse.
“Brother Hu, wait! Come over yourself. I need to talk to you about something!” Hedgehog quickly added.
Wang Hu hesitated before laughing, “You’re making this sound mysterious. I’m on my way.” He hung up.
“Brother Tian, I made the call. Can I go now?”
“Did I say you could go?” I looked at him playfully. If I let him go now, he might warn Wang Hu.
To be honest, after Zhou Feng dropped out, his followers scattered. Wang Hu naturally became the boss of the school. I might be strong, but I couldn’t take on dozens of people at once. Even if I could, I’d end up in the hospital. The best way to deal with Wang Hu was to lure him out alone. I’d never been afraid of anyone in a one-on-one fight, and I wasn’t about to start now.
“Xia Tian, you lying b*stard! You promised to let me go!” Hedgehog struggled, but Zhang Yu kicked him down again. “Stay down!”
Since Wang Hu was coming, Hedgehog was useless now. To prevent him from warning Wang Hu, I knocked him out with a chop to the neck. Zhang Yu and I waited in the restroom for Wang Hu’s arrival.
Soon enough, Wang Hu entered and saw Hedgehog lying on the ground. He frowned, “What’s the meaning of this?”
“I should be asking you that, Brother Hu.” I leaned against the wall, questioning him.
Wang Hu lit a c!garette and started smoking. “Did my underling offend you?”
“No need for pleasantries. Did you have Fatty stabbed?” As I asked, Zhang Yu picked up a brick, ready to attack.
Wang Hu didn’t retreat, his expression unchanged.
“So, you know?” Wang Hu exhaled a long plume of smoke, indirectly admitting it.
“It seems your lackeys weren’t lying.” Initially, I couldn’t believe Wang Hu would do such a thing. He had left a good impression on me. Even after Mouse’s story, I suspected it was Zhou Feng setting a trap before leaving. Now, it was clear Wang Hu was cunning all along.
“What do you want?” Wang Hu flicked his c!garette away, showing no concern.
“I’m not a thug, and I’ve never ruled the school. People can insult me, and I can endure it. But if someone hurts my brother, I will get justice, even if it kills me!” I pointed at myself, then at him. “You and me, one-on-one. If I win, I’ll repay you double for every stab Fatty took. If I lose, you can do whatever you want with me.”
“Xia Tian, stop wasting time! Let’s just cripple him and call it even for Fatty!” Zhang Yu was impatient. I gave him a reassuring look, and he calmed down.
“Since you’ve made it so clear, I won’t drag this out!” Wang Hu spat, then added, “But this place isn’t suitable. How about the small grove?”
“Fine.” It didn’t matter where we fought. I just wanted to avenge Fatty.
Wang Hu laughed, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll set a trap?”
“You’re the boss now. You could ambush me anywhere.” I considered the possibility of an ambush in the grove but felt prepared enough to handle it.
“Brave!” Wang Hu laughed and walked out. Zhang Yu and I followed him to the small grove.
Wang Hu stretched, preparing for the fight. He gestured for me to come at him, “Bring it on!”
